So I have been brooding on the ending just as much as anyone else and have been trying to summarize why I feel complete dissappointment in the way the game ended. Then it hit me in the face. The tag line that was thrown around like crazy leading up to the launch of the game "Take Earth Back." I bought the game because I loved the first two and wanted to conclude one of the most epic journey's in video game history by taking back Earth and ridding the ME galaxy of the Reaper threat. So here I am, finished with the game, with no desire to play through ME3 again (which was one of the greatest selling points of the previous two games) and all because I feel like I failed to do the one thing that the game promised I would do.

No amount of "clarification" will fix this, not unless it includes me waking up from my laser induced coma and kicking multiple baddies in the face (preferrably Suicide mission style).

Addendum: List your #1 reason why in as few words as possible.

Nope I didn't take Earth Back. And if Arrival is to be believed I actually blew Earth up. As far as I'm concerned we didn't beat the Reapers. I did not see a smoking Harbringer corpse at the end.

No, I feel like I just kicked the "worth saving" out of the galaxy.

Actually theres a good thread somewhere on the forums that goes into the detail of how the energy released by the relays isn't the same manner as the way it is released in Arrival. Science and stuff is used in it.

No, and I agree about the kicking ass and taking names after waking up from the laser induced coma part.

If by "took back" you mean "turned into a lifeless ball of ash or a field of space debris", then yes.

Honestly no I don't. I really hate that the starbrat almost literally carries you across the finish line.

A resounding 'NO'.

That is the entire point of why hundreds of thousands of fans are up in arms.

No, I don't know if Earth is actually saved or completly destroyed by the mass relays but only way to find out is to wait for the Extended cut

Yep sadly there is no clarification one way or the other.  Sorry can't pin my hopes on a dream right now.  And as far as the codex is concerned it whipes out an entire star system now that IS cannon.

I hear ya. I guess I am just tired of reading the long winded explanations. I was just trying to sum it up as easily as possible. It just so happens that I could use the promotional tag line of the game to do it.

No. Left it burning. Left everyone I rallied there to die of starvation, or maybe they will just eat eachother... Krogan like Salarian livers raw ya know... Taking back Earth was a farce, I would have preferred to die in battle on Earth rather than someplace in space watching from a distance and being mocked by some glowy Star-Brat God-Thing. Here's to ending the game with a whimper and more questions than answers.

Nope it feels like i most likely killed all life on earth once the citadel falls out of orbit, guess we could get lucky and it hit the moon but then the moon might break apart and then we'd have even bigger problems

Yes. The Reaper threat has been removed and no matter how many die in the aftermath, as long as the human race lives on, than we have won.

Because losing would have meant the end of the human race. A depleted human race>extinct human race.

Actually, I was feeling pretty freakin' awesome heading into the final run at the magic beam of light. I saved four entire species (Quarians, Geth, Krogan and Rachni), I brokered peace and stopped a 300 year long war, I gave a species back its homeworld, I solidified Earth's place in the galactic hierarchy and showed an entire galaxy what humanity was worth, took down the biggest terrorist organization in history and I did all that while bringing together the largest military fleet in the history of the galaxy.

And then it all went to hell and in the space of 10 minutes I felt like I hadn't done a single thing. So much for that journey.
