EA voted worst company in America:
That little tidbit keeps popping up in other articles too. It's the gift that keeps giving. For example, I was reading an article yesterday about how EA's stock price dropped 6% in one day and at the end of the article it mentioned EA was voted the worst company.
I wouldn't continue bringing stock prices into the argument. Only long term trends matter. Look at Apple's stock after Steve Job's death. It dropped significantly and then went back up. However, EA's stock has taken a nosedive since its highs of a couple years ago. Day to day results don't really mean that much.
My point was EA's Worst Company award keeps showing up in other articles.
I agree that you can't read too much into short-term stock trends. However, EA just made new lows for the year yesterday. It's down about 25% for the year while the S&P stock index is up about 10% for the year. That's not good - especially since EA is down over 75% from its all-time high.
MY point, was more about the supposed EVIL companies in America and why everyone seems to be calling EA the worst ( granted they earned it ). The entire reasoning was that EA comes off as more of a disgruntled and starving artist, raging against "the machine" that is the fan base.
But yes, I love how EA was voted the worst company in America, and suddenly there is a PR campaign about how ME3 had the largest fan reaction in gaming history. Nevermind it was entirely negative ( JUST the ending, the game itself was awesome ).
...oh and don't forget suddenly its "free" DLC for the mp, and "free" DLC ending extended cut...Public Relations....

I pre orderded the N7 edition the moment it became available last year and i was hoping for this to be a great end to the mass effect trilogy only for the game to get pushed back into this year. Ithought to myself " awesome more time for bioware to create a masterpeice " needless to say i was disappointed after completeing the game.
The ending let me down but not just that killing off well respected characters by in game letters, the campaign felt alot shorter than the previous two mass effect games which isn't a suprise since DA2 was shorter than DA:O just seems like it's a trend bioware's repeating alot recently most likely down to EA's deadline crap.
So yes i'm still disappointed and i'm not going to let it go anytime soon it's the 3rd successive bioware game that's disappointed me, the others being DA2 and SWTOR.
Agreed, I havent play me3 again. Thankfully, The Witcher 2 came out

The big question is how this all will affect Dragon Age 3 sales. People were mad about how Dragon Age II turned out. BioWare's response was that they'll be taking that criticism into consideration. Then they hype ME3 and caused a huge backlash with the endings, day 1 DLC, face import, etc. If BioWare stumbled across the finish line with a story focusing on one central character, how will BioWare pull off a story with three main characters with all the decisions that were made between them?
Simply answer, they wont be able to do that. If Mass Effect couldnt pull this off, then I am doubltful Dragon Age 3 will when its release...prob next year cause of EA.

No, not even that.
I certainly think some people will be surprised when they face the problems of Life.
-Im allways amazed at this hypocritical fallacy.
But then I suppose that the people who write this inane crap are posting from DRC where they are sitting at their shared laptop, from the MSF camp where they are helping kids with amputated limps by way of machete from other kids. Or perhaps they are helping out the Hmong? Or they are perhaps doing good elsewhere in the third world? They speak from great experience in life from a platform of knowing how crap the third world is, yes? They dont buy 250$ dinners for their families, donate 30$ to charity and then rub their nipples in pharisaic joy over their own goodness? They dont preach "first world problems" when they have to have the lastes Iphone or other gadget, etc... right?

Think about that, in the last few years, we had to deal with Microsoft becoming a monopoly, Apple's endless "I-products", even the oil spill in the gulf thanks to BP, but EA is the worst in America in 2012? why not any of the lending institutions who are ruining this countries financial backbone? Why not the oil companies demanding we pay 4 bucks a gallon? or Apple with the never ending I-products? or even Microsoft who everyone seems to love one minutes and despise the next?
Because they give their consumers, their customers what they want, can EA say the same in this instance? I really hope someone over at BioWare grows a pair and stands up against the evil overlords at EA and fights for independence over their games. ( spoiler alert for a new game! )
I'm actually pretty disgusted that Apple, with their reliance on Foxconn and its brutalised Chinese workforce that commits suicide on a regular basis, or tobacco companies, which basically poison people for money, are viewed as not as bad as a game company which happens to buy a lot of other game companies.
It says something absolutely shocking about the self-entitlement of gamers (and not just the BSN)

Actually the odds are you have some sort of device from a company that uses Foxconn. Do you own any products from Sony, Microsoft, Apple, Dell, Motorola, Nokia, Nintendo, Cisco, Acer, Hewlett Packard, Samsung, Toshiba, or Intel? All are or were using Foxconn to manufacture products. I assume you don't have any of those products right? Otherwise you are helping to support the problem.

I am mentally disabled, and I am on government assistance. My family has been in this country since 1639.
In the past few years, I feel that the Republicans have attacked people who are on government assistance. Some of them have called people like me entitled, and have labeled us as being members of the entitled class. These same people say that we are stealing from hard-working Americans. I also feel these same Republicans are attempting to destroy our country and are stealing this nation from those they don't like. Right now, I am hearing on the news that our US Postal Service is on the brink of bankruptcy. This has been an institution of our nation since its founding, and the Republicans are set on destroying it, and stealing the right of people to a public mail service.
I played video games to escape from this ugly reality. I enjoyed Mass Effect for I was a paragon Shepard who united people, and brought the galaxy together to meet an existentialist threat. I felth there was a social contract between me and Bioware, in that I could play in their playground and that I could shape my character to my like. Then, came Mass Effect 3 in which I felt that Bioware bulged in and, not only did they destroy the playground, they stole and destroyed my character.
I was stunned and I could only ask, why?
Then, I joined in a chorus of voices asking the same question, why?
I felt that me and others were then surrounded by bullies who attacked us with their voices. Their voices attempted to drown ours out. They called us entitled, and labeld us as the entitled class. While we suffered, Bioware stood back and crossed their arms definisvely. They stood there and watched us being attacked. Bioware only did something when we weren't leaving, and we were attracting the attention of sympathetic ears. To save face, Bioware promised us lollipops (Exented Ending DLC) - aren't we nice guys?
No, I say. You destroyed this universe, and you stole my character and destroyed my character. I don't care how you explain it - it's still destroyed by your own rules.
Worse than this, the illusion that I could escape into this game was destroyed. I escaped from a world where I am labled an entitled and selfish individual to discover myself being attacked for being the same thing because I don't like the ending.and I have expressed my dissatisfication. I feel betrayed that Bioware didn't protect me from this bullying. I am forever alienated from this franchise and from Bioware, and it is no longer a place I can escape to.

I wonder how EA treats their video game testers. I wonder if the changes in the workplace that was brought to light with EA spouse have changed things drastically especially during crunch time. How about spearheading the online pass movement which threatens the livelyhood of gamestop, gamefly and mom and pop stores alike? The monopolization of Madden.
If you think that's bad you should see all the E-waste we send to China and then the poor people sort out rare precious metals to reuse them while working in toxic conditions.
I mean if you really hate the business that Foxconn does then you shouldn't be buying products from the companies that use them. Period.

The point I am making is that you can't even compare what EA does to what one of those companies do, and to do so is quite frankly an insult to the human race.
