I would play pc, but I bought a mac instead for music/design work, so I play on the xbox. I'm probably on the older side, being on my way to 30 (oh god, now I feel old). We're not all bad on the xbox.

ok, counting braveltoaster, i guess, this is the second time in two minutes that someone was offended by my question.

it is not meant to be insulting, it is not meant to be a judgement about all people who play whatever platform.  i don't have an xbox, i have no experience with xbl.  also, i totally don't care. 

online interactions are interesting and they make me curious.  if you want to answer the question and see how others answer it, then do so.  if you don't, don't.  of course, if you're reading this, than i guess you do.

I play on XBL and this community is much older on average than what I was used to on the Wii. My guess is that the average XBL player is college-age. And I haven't heard any profanity or abuse over XBL yet... I've seen it but haven't heard it.

People wanting to generalize the Xbox audience as a bunch of 12 year olds, are as ignorant as the people they're complaining about. It would be like me assuming all Bioware fans are A holes, just because of how many are on these forums.

I also play PC. I don't think I've ever encountered verbal abuse. Actually, talking seems pretty rare in PC pick up games.

No run ins with 12 year olds on XBL for me yet and I've basically been putting at least 3 hours a day in for the the past month.

EDIT: To be fair, I guess I spend most of the time in a party with friends than actually in random games.

so tired to hear about those ancient pieces of crap that are the 360 and the ps3. High end PC gaming hardware became useless because of those consoles. Because most of the games are cross platform and due to that most of them do not use the power of the newest hardware, instead we get games that fly on literaly any machine and look like games from 5 years ago. This is my reason for hating the consoles got nothing against the console players. you'll find some bad apples anywhere even on the "mature" age area of the players. (and yes i know it's offtopic)

On topic, suggesting something is worse than something else in this way would be very hard to support with evidence. A very small percentage of the gaming community participates in forums such as this. The result is a very skewed view of how things are. And for the record, I am on XBL, and rarely have issues with people in any online game. If I do, I avoid them, report them (if warranted), mute them or go to Party Chat, and go on with my gaming experience.

On PS3, I've only ever been attacked once, fairly early into the game. A guy was wanting the black widow, I was like GL bro. Starts raging at me, specifically I was using a Salarian engineer (Wasnt very popular) and was using a mattock (?)

Got a black widow the next game

All people that play on an xbox tend to use party chat. This means they can't communicate with game chat, or even hear them.

When I have been in public chat, or invited strangers to the party, not one of them has ever been insulting.

I've been playing this on the xbox since it came out and found no abuse at all, quite the opposite I searched for a bronze game and ended up in a gold, because I was a low level some wanted to boot me but someone came on the mic asking if I had any higher level characters which I did, which was nice

There was the typical XBL stupidity that comes with any new game release, but I can say that a month after release the ****tards have migrated away ME3 community is actually pretty decent at this point. I'm surprised by it.

The bro games attract the moron crowd on XBL and are the source of its bad rep, which leaves the other titles refreshingly moron-free.

Don't think this game is huge in the under 18 demo. That said I have only heard two "kids". Both were fine. The one that cussed only did so when he got himself killed. I don't play any MP on the 360 for the very reason that I don't want to hear "f**s" every few seconds, but have been very happy with this MP so far.

It's fine so long as you stay away from GoW, Halo and CoD. Those three titles and series' have single handedly given XBL its poor reputation, practically any other game is as idiot-free as you can expect from an online community.

The stupid idea that "more kids" play on Xbox is only true in that "more people" play online games on the Xbox as a whole. I don't buy any online-play games for my PS3.

But, OP sounds exactly like the kind of screechy teammate who one could easily mistake for a 12-year-old.
