It's fine so long as you stay away from GoW, Halo and CoD. Those three titles and series' have single handedly given XBL its poor reputation, practically any other game is as idiot-free as you can expect from an online community.

You know, actually I haven't. I read the game's reviews and decided I'd sit that one out. Was this during the game's middle, happy medium in its lifestyle after the morons went back to whatever triple A game is their poison but before the only people still playing are the hardcore fans?

Speaking of other games, I wish WFC's MP hadn't died out. That game was fun as hell.

It was a great game, but the multiplayer died so fast.... only about 20-50 people play at a time these days.

I was mentioning AFTER everyone not hardcore left the game... there are so many elitists on AvP these days that I don't even bother.

Zero abuse received or dished out, and I've played plenty of rounds on Xbox Live. There's been a fair bit of good-natured laughter and friendly banter, though, especially when someone's level 18 vanguard drops on the first round of Bronze.

Seems to me TC is describing a myth.

Ah, yeah, that -- the MP pit of despair. That's why I won't touch MvC with a ten-yard pole on XBL despite owning MvC2 and 3. I just figured that either of those games launched into the MP pit of despair.

Most people on the PS3 don't seem to have a mic.

Those that do seem to always be on with a friend. And hence, usually pretty friendly.

There was one guy who kinda seemed like he abusing the mic - but he was *hilarious*. I think he was like 12 and had a mouth which would make sailors blush. But pretty much targeted solely at the NPC's and game, and not the other players.

My favorite:

"Mission aborted"

"YOU GET ABORTED"

I would totally get into a lobby with him again.

I've only heard people talk at all twice on PC, and that was only once in each game. Neither of those times were abuse ("are you just gonna stand there?" and "good job!")

I have not heard a harsh word in all the PC matches I've played. There are plenty of captains obvious but they are just trying to help.

actually, i assumed that "douche" would be censored.

yes, some people seem put off by the title.  it's not meant to be directed at anyone or to offend anyone.  it's certainly not meant to be homophobic.

it was intended to catch your attention, so you would tell me what you play and how much abuse you have encountered so i have a better idea what the community as a whole is like.

after reading the posts, it sounds like i am, in fact,  reffering to a common steriotype that some people with experience report as true, some as true but limited to "bro-games" (which is a funny term) and slightly more report as false.

There's douchebags on every gaming system. 360 kids rarely pull themselves away from Halo to play anything else (or do anything productive) PS3 kids get overly aggressive towards 360 gamers and PC kids get whiny about Console Gamers.

Personally I have heard more abuse on the PS3 than on the 360, tbf I usually mute them on the 360 (something the PS3 needs, I don't want to hear a bunch of annoying punks being generally punkish and annoying)

And I play every day, on 360, and am actually yet to encounter any verbal abuse save people ****ing at the game. Players are left alone in my experience.

Even when I play Reach, it's generally pretty quiet.

 I was playing ME3 on PS3 yesterday, two people had the nerve to complain to me that I was kill stealing, never mind the fact I was playing silver and helping them get credits...
CoD Mentality drifted over to ME3.

If you think audio abuse is bad, play League of Legends. I love it when people have time to type visual abuse.....even though your team is winning and you are contributing to it. I swear people have way too much free time on thier hands.
