Hi there.

I wondered, since I read somewhere that there will be more mass effect games or stories told in the future, What will it be?
Will it be a mass effect 4, continuing with shepard or atleast the reapers part of the mass effect story?
or
Will it be a whole new story?
or
Will it be a whole new genre in the same mass effect universe.

I myself would like to see a new mass effect story and a little diffrent from the standard genre (mixing it with the elder scrolls)

Soooo what do you guys think?

thanks for reading!

Next game they make must keep the epic story telling and the ability to make choices that affect the game around you. That is pretty much the staple of the Mass Effect franchise. If they were to take that away, it would not be Mass Effect anymore.

As for Elder Scrolls, I don't think it would be a sandbox game like Skyrim was where you can do anything, but they were looking at an open world RPG for Dragon Age 3. So they might just take that aspect of it.

I don't think Mass Effect would turn into a game where you would spawn 2000 things of cheese and watch them roll down a hill.

Oh and for the next installment I would ask that they switch publishers. A few games have known to have more than one publisher throughout their development cycle. So the next game should be something different than EA. I think for ME 1, they had Microsoft, and they were pretty good to it. EA took over in 2009, but that was after ME 1 was released.

LoL, EA owns Bioware so they're not switching publishers.

I am wondering if you can still import you save game in ME4 and the choices reflect on the totally new storyline, THAT would be nice.

Oh, my mistake. I thought EA just bought the rights to publish Mass Effect from them.

I actually read a few minutes ago that Bioware has full autonomy on their games. They decide what goes in them. EA just publishes it. They do not have any say in what goes into Mass Effect or other Bioware games.

Well, they have a great set up for the story of the next game in the Mass Effect world.

Reconstructing the Mass Relays, reconnecting with other worlds, salvaging supplies to stay alive and rebuild, dealing with left over reaper threats [cause even "dead" reapers are capable of screwing with your world], dealing with the the various people who learned nothing from Udina's failed grab for power while everyone was distracted by the galaxy ending threat beating down the front door.

I think it's very likely Mass Effect will be a MMO as its next big thing. Before then, maybe some small iPhone games will come out, but for core gamers it'll be a MMO. I'm looking at signs like how Bioware was formed with Mythic to form what EA calls its RPG/MMO studio group.

Continuing Mass Effect after all this controversy? Good luck with that. Truthfully they should just hang up the towel on this and devote themselves completely to not repeating their mistakes in DA3. And you can look at this from either perspective... if there is such a large hatred of the ending in general, whether or not you liked the ending, then the ending definitely wasn't great. All they can do now is either change the ending, go with the Indoctrination Theory and tell everyone it was all just a bad dream (which is sad), or continue on with this "clarity" DLC. Making another ME is shooting themselves in the foot.

Mass Effect is a game about how a guy saves a galaxy.

except that Shepard is dead, there is a giant fleet marooned in the solar system cuz mass relays are destroyed which in turn destroyed the galaxy's economy and shepard is dead, hero of the galaxy. dead.

edit: Mass Effect is a story about how a guy tried to save the galaxy but failed and died.

Mass Effect 4 -

Cerberus rebuilds Shepard...

I really can't think of why I would want to play a ME4 when they couldn't even finish up ME3 right

I want 4's protagonist to be the offspring of Shepard. It may be tough for the abstinent people who didn't romance anyone, but you could choose the species depending on your love interest (Turian, Asari, Human) and people react to the fact that you're the son/daughter of the galaxy's savior, but you are reluctant to be that. A lot more hub world's a lot of running around, more gang elements like ME2, and not so much military involvement would be a great change of pace. A very young protagonist not doing so much "save the universe" stuff, but more like "live my own life, not my father's". A much more internal struggle.

It's just my opinion though, no need to go spreading it around.

That MMO actually seems possible, but only if they set certain events as canon. In any case that huge fleet at Earth could easily be the starting point, MMO or ME4. You could start out as a soldier assigned to travel through the first reconstructed relay as the massive fleet filled with engineers and scientists jumps from one area to another while reestablishing order. Your job being to clear the way.
-Defeat remaining threats
-Recapture home worlds
-Find the Normandy

The obvious canon would be peace between everyone, genosomething cured, and destroy ending.

Continuing the story of Shepard or his/her offspring doesn't exactly fit well with people.
I think I would prefer ME4 to be a reboot of the Mass Effect series.

I would honestly like to see more of what shep was doing prior to the reapers. Or maybe the events of the first contact war, let us play as Kahlee Sanders and/or David Anderson

i would love to see the battle on akuze, its the background i have for all my saves, something about your whole squad being EATEN by thresher maws is amazing. but it only happens in the sole survivor backstory and there are 2 other backstories (ruthless and war hero) to contend with.

I want to see a Mass Effect: Origins game. Shepard's story is done, the ending buggered things up so it'll have to be a prequel. I imagine it being set a bit before ME1. You play as a Spectre but your mission isn't to save the galaxy this time (more DA2 than DA:O in that regard). You get the choice to play as an asari , salarian or turian. The asari is obviously female only, the salarian is male only and the turian can be male or female. You also get the choice of a background for your character, I'm thinking things like C-sec officer, merc, pirate or soldier.

I can see why we had to play as a human in ME1, other than the fact Shepard is a specific character, we didn't know enough about the other races to play as one. Now we know a lot about the different races I think it would be fun to roleplay as a non-human.

If BioWare develops a Mass Effect MMO the fallout will be unfathomable, especially after this debacle which followed a few too many others as well. The ME3 Fallout sort of overshadowed the contemptuous feelings for SWTOR, which itself already had fans upset because Knights of the Old Republic III was scrapped in favor of the unpopular MMORPG. They'll also lose a good number of the fans that are the backbone of the series on both sides of the ending debate, there is no question about that. Not to mention that there is a large number of us who feel the fan outcry for a multiplayer mode had something to do with a good number of problems regarding Mass Effect 3 as a finished product - it was as if after the script leaks they cut out a good chunk of the original game and simply replaced it with more in regards to the multiplayer.

And let's not forget that Hudson himself has stated that there will likely be more games in the Mass Effect Universe, just not in the same timeline, either likely in the past (which is lame) or more likely in the future. Of course, we don't know if Walters or Hudson would have much to do with the next game in that same said universe or not.

If they're seriously going to make another installment in the series then it needs to be done smartly, not rushed with a pathetic and poorly driven storyline. My suggestion would be about two to three thousand years in the future, after everyone in regards to the current setting is long past gone - this would allow the writers enough time to drive the galaxy in a new unseen direction and have answers to everything we are asking, but could be told in a number of novels and comic books (Ala Star Wars).
