Also has anyone used an Arcane warrior as a tank? because if thats possible I would rather not have Alistaire in my party, he tends to disagree with my descisions lol

hmm, okay thanks for that
That is misleading. You still need about 22 willpower to even cast all the sustained abilities you'll use as an AW, assuming you don't want to change equipment before every time you cast them. Those abilities are:
Arcane Shield
Rock Armor
Combat Magic
Shimmering Shield
Flaming/Cold/Telekenetic Weapons
Plus some optional abilities that are helpful but not necessary:
Miasma
Spell Might
Spell Shield
You'll need at least 20 willpower (so 18 + fade bonuses) and as much as 30 to keep all those abilities active.
AW is unlocked by talking to a spirit in the ruins where you find the werewolves.

What do you gain from Spell Might and Spell Shield that you feel is worth the mana?

On normal difficulty, my AW did not use Spell Might and Spell Shield, nor Shimmering Shield (on my PC install, it does seem to deactivate sustained abilities). I never put points into willpower.

Nothing. I solo on nightmare without them. I've just seen some people use them so I added them to my "optional" list. Personally my AW has abilities I said were a "must," with telekenetic weapons and Miasma. He has 24 Willpower and enough mana left over to cast one high tier spell before switching to blood magic.

Where have you put point in spells on your AW, then? Do you use Storm of the Century or Mana Clash? I just find that having to put 8 spell points into your specialization makes it difficult to round out your character early.
Also, did you go for Blood Mage specialization first, or Arcane Warrior?

As I don't want to make Wynne quit, how much should I invest in spellpower, if I don't want to take the Blood Mage route, but maybe the one obtainable in Warden Keep ?

I'm at 22 Dex now after the Fade bonuses and not having as much of an issue. I also just got Miasma which might be helping too.

The one ability's in WK is not a BM route it's just unlocking ability's you already had.

AFAIK, Wynne doesn't quit if you become a blood mage. It's something a lot of people bring up on the forums, your party members don't even notice your specializations. The only notice the choices you make to get them (specifically with Reaver).

Just started my seccond playthrough and am going for an Elven Arcane Warrior / healer, just wondering what attributes people recon I should focus on. I was going to go for Magic, Willpower, Resiliance and then chuck a few points on strength every once in a while.

I'm on my second as well, and finding that my Arcane Warrior makes a GREAT tank. You won't need Strength, because you'll acquire an passive ability that uses your Magic instead of Strength to determine what armor you can wear. You'll also end up with a sustained ability that will add Spellpower to your melee damage.
