I played the game for the relationships. I liked the Traynor one, I liked the shower seen. Ok the underwear was a bit much much, but Shepard going in with her clothing just showed how it was spontaneous. I loved the little bit of extra they put in with Traynors conversations after, the little bits of flirting... it was more then you got out of the other ones, even with Liara.

Good. That's 100% more feelings evoked than watching a ME2 love scene could. :D

(Shadow Broker DLC kinda salvaged the whole situation, at least for Liara-lovers like me *g*)

Nudity in video games got pretty bold with RockStars LA Nior. In that game you saw full frontal nudity, including pubic hair, with female murder victims. Now either that company was some serious balls or the fact that these were lifeless bodies gave it less weight???. Its an interesting questions this whole double standard around video games. I wonder if in that RockStar game, they had one "still living" female character, maybe a stripper, showing off her body like that, if it would have tipped the scales. We hardly heard a thing about it.

As for wanting to throw this out the window...I just have to say, have some vision please. Again you can suggest nudity and use it correctly to good effect. Like I said in my earlier post Sheoard jumping into a shower fully clothed was just stupid. If they were afraid to do it right, don't even try

Rockstar likes to push the envelope with the games it publishes. Max Payne 2 had nudity (Finnish devs, FTW). GTA4's expansions had full frontal MALE nudity. Why not go all the way?
That's what you get because Rockstar is an English company, BTW.

That bit I have to disagree with, as it can happen. Especially if it's a heat of the moment thing.

But taking a shower with your undies on is just silly.

I think they tried to have the best of both worlds and failed. If they wanted the shower scene, which was hot btw, they should have just used camera angles and maybe steam to keep it below the threshold that allowed them to release this game with its current rating. ME1 had better cutscenes than ME3...I don't see why they couldn't have done at least that much.

I could have written off the underwear thing as part of Traynor's OCD (6000 credit toothbrush? The girl's got issues). But I don't buy Shepard being fully clothed as "heat of the moment". Maaaybe if she was wearing a skimpy tank top and short shorts but most of the time she's in long pants, which would probably feel as weird as it looks. I don't know they didn't just hide the nudity with camera angles, otherwise why do a shower scene at all??

Blame certain stores who've stated they won't stock games that contain nudity no matter what the rating is. Easier to just avoid it all together than to risk consumers not finding the game, yeah?

I'm going to guess that the store you're talking about is Wal-Mart.

which in case I'd go to Gamestop or WorstBuy either way.

Witcher2 (EU) vs ME3 (US) would appear to support that statement.

You do realize that Bioware is a Canadian studio, right?

Yes I know I was just having a friendly dig at the yanks

You know its funny for people to hide sex away when teenagers start thinking of it at like 13, yet they expect them to ignore it til they're old or "mature" enough. hence teenage pregnancies because no one told them pfft if they explained it away instead of dodging it man. sexuality is everywhere in the western world how can you hide away from it? When did showing a little skin become taboo in every culture? since like Adam + Eve? lol

I don't get why this is such a big topic.

So there's no nudity. You don't NEED nudity to make a great game.
Do some of the love scenes feel awkward with the "excessive" clothing? Yes. (Traynor's shower scene especially)
I agree that ME1 handled it rather well. I believe that ME2 was just as good (displaying the scenes leading up to love-making as opposed to love-making itself, like Miranda and Jack's scenes).

But a lack of nudity does not mean it's a bad game.

There, I've explained it.

Matey, I'm a Christian. I much prefered the first game's love scene over the watered down versions of ME2 and 3. Not saying I'd want XXX rated in the games, but I wouldn't scream and shout if YOU wanted such and received such. Please, either don't make such sweeping statements that are not founded on fact, or be specific with your statements: there are some VOCAL HARD-CORE FAR RIGHT Christian groups that are sufficiently annoying... etc.

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater, and don't lump us all in the same boat - or is it also acceptable for me to blame all Germans because a small group of them bombed seven kinds of hell out of my country in WW2? Lay the blame where it belongs, please.

I think its because they eventually want to make the BW franchise E - T rating so they keep taking out the sex, show naked female enemies, try to not show the use of drugs, alcohol, get rid of the strippers and up the gunporn just so they can appeal to teens and young kids and alienate the adults who got the game franchise were it is.

Really I'm sick of all this teen pandering the only adult friendly ones are now for PC pretty soon I'm going to have to start my own game company to get games that are thought provoking, challenging in game design, and have strong plot, characters, and lore.

You would, but far more people shop at Walmart than at Gamestop or BestBuy.  Not being able to sell there is a definitely a factor to consider in your marketing plan.

Teen pregnancies rates would totally drop if Traynor had no undies in the shower.

Presumably because all the girls would go gay for her or something....  :wizard:

I don't know where you live, but sex ed has been pretty standard in the US starting about 6th grade for at least 30 years.

You really think it's because of prudishness? Doubtless that plays a role, but think about it. Who are the romances?

Garrus would require an entirely new model and textures.
Tali would require an entirely new model and textures.
Jack would require a new model and textures (could probably modify her ME2 one, but the ME3 nude female has much larger breasts than Jack, and new textures would be needed for her lower body)
Thane would require--oh, that guy's a love interest? I forgot.

All the 'nude' males and female share the same textures (Kaidan, Shepard, and Steve all the have the back freckle pattern, hah), with the exception of Liara.

Remember, this is the company who considered alien females not worth the time (I am not counting the male krogan in a burqa or a reused model as a 'new design'). This is the company who considered a five-minute photoshop of a stock image acceptable.

It's laziness and corners cut, nothing more.

Yeah well I was kinda talking about parents responsibility in way to explain to their children, in a way sorry if I wasn't altogether clear. Hell I also had sex ed when I was 12-13 and I live  in South Africa btw I just rather would have had my parents give me the run down than some random stranger trying to explain the sex/etc it might of stuck a bit better.

As for Traynor(or any of the LI's showing abit of skin) dropping her undies or showing skin in the shower, I think people should kinda get a sexual maturity instilled in them early on so people don't get so hot and bothered over a little bit of skin, since we really are all naked under our clothing anyway:pinched:.  Though it would of been better if the number of love scenes+LI's been reduced and made more meaningful and artistic in a sense like ME 1  no need for full frontal nudity.

The no one told them part might not be true in for most of the western world but I think people should make  sure teenagers listen and understand what they learn in sex ed.

Wouldn't an acceptable compromise have been an additional free or micropay ($1, just to be able to have a credit/debit card with an additional level of age confirmation)DLC with age-verification via Origins/EA?

I agree.
If gonna make an M-rated game that includes sex scenes, then why the hell not?
If you're not gonna show anything, then don't bother including it in your game, simple as that.

Oh well, there's always The Witcher 2.

Hey anyone play Heavy Rain? That had some scenes in it too, but its just was respectful of it, or knew when and how to use nudity.

RockStar pushed the envelope, but they are not flip about it. It feels like they do it for the right reasons. They get labeled as extreme, but actually I give them more credit than just that, myself.

I would have liked one other scene for each love interest, kind of when your Shepard was getting more serious about that love interest. I did the Tali thing and knowing they were kind of doing things on a regular basis, could have had some good angles to the dialogue.... Also wish they used the reporter on board to ask some funny questions about the bed room antics of Shep.

has more to do with ESRB and the fruitcakes of society that believe video games should only be made for kiddies.

Well, consoles give people the impression of kids. Would be nice to see an adult section open up. I think what bothers me the most is the lack of extreme, vulgar language from adult video games where we aren't allowed to hear the Fword apparently. Youtube is more vulgar than video games today. The sheer controversy is enough marketing for the product itself, so I don't know why companies are afraid.
