That pretty much leaves this discussion null and void. Gaming compaines are not the only businesses that do this. Auto manufacturers are notorious for doing the same thing.

It is a matter of courtesy to cite an article when trying to make a discussion on an article. So yes, it is your job to cite it; it is not the reader's job to look up what you're talking about when you want to discuss an article.Docmeff22 wrote...

Any chance we could get a source for your claim that they're laying off 1000 employees because of BF3 and TOR?

Here are three links of about 50. Next time do a simple Google search lest I have to do your job for you.
You make the claim, you provide the evidence. That's called doing your job in the first place.
Actually NUMEROUS articles all over the internet made the claim. I just asked what everyone's opinion was on how long something like this could happen. Next you'll want me to read it to you.

"EA is growing and looking to hire hundreds of people for our digital, console, mobile and social games," the representative said. "Like all game companies, we make occasional adjustments to resize teams as projects are completed and new priorities are established. Overall, we expect that headcount will be up at the end of this year."
That pretty much leaves this discussion null and void. Gaming compaines are not the only businesses that do this. Auto manufacturers are notorious for doing the same thing.

This is the first you've heard about this? I've been reading these articles for at least a week now. I just thought it was common knowledge and most people would have known what I was referring to. Pardon my ignorance and "lack of courtesy."

Except it's one statement, from one ex-employee who's saying they're firing UP TO 1000 employees (not 1000, as the title suggests). EA's fiscal year ended March 31st. They've yet to announce a yearly earnings report. Can we please wait until they've at least discussed that before jumping on the "omg they're firing everybody" bandwagon?

Agreed. They haven't done it yet so it's pure speculation. Plus Sony has actually stated they are cutting 10,000 jobs and no one is going all doom and gloom on them.

The Bioware name is too valuable a commodity to evaporate. Also, the buyout deal was favorable for Bioware as far as I'm aware. They still have lots of control over their own projects. Notice the founders are still the heads of Bioware? That doesn't sound like standard hostile takeover procedure to me.
The Bioware name is being destroyed :
Well when EA bought them the Bioware name was like gold. Now it's closer to something brown and smelly.

Rooting for it and not being suprised if it happens is not really the same thing.
