You have no idea how much work and how many man hours would go into balancing these classes and abilties for pvp. It is far from a non-issue and would indeed be the equivlent of making an entirely new game. The only real option would be to water abilities down so heavily that it wouldn't be ME anymore - it would just be a CoD clone in space.

ME3 pvp is an extrordinarily bad idea, ET ont he Atari would be a more playable and pleasing experience.

yes i actually do i did a little bit of simple game programming and i am in college getting my degree in electrical engineering which has quite a bit of programming in it so i know how much work goes into it.  I am not saying i support ME3 PvP cause i dont but i am saying that there isnt an issue with how to balance the classes IF and I STRESS  -> IF <-


Well the syntax is very simple sure:

if mode = pvp:
    1 set of rules
else
     the other set of rules

But do you realize how extensive those 2 sets of rules are to develop? Would take months to develop one set. It's not just about putting code together willy-nilly. You have to plan and design the logic and THEN develop and test. This is a MASSIVE amount of work.


Or they could just strip all the equipment and supplies from co-op and just make pvp with everyone the same level with access to every level 1 gun. Give no incentive for winning and no punishment for losing, a beta of sorts. Find out what works and make changes from there.

Mass Effect survived without any kind of multiplayer mode for years and has been consistently ranked as one of the best games...yeah, the lack of PvP mode is going to undo all that. Please go back to whatever PvP game you were playing before Mass Effect 3 came out, you'll be happier and so will the rest of us who like what we have. k, thx, buh-bye.

I'd be willing to bet a significant amount of money that you never played ME1 or ME2. The Mass Effect series is not, has never been and will never be about what the multiplayer is or isn't. Despite what some (including me) think about the ending of ME3, Mass Effect was perhaps the most significant sci-fi story of our generation and the series will go down as a classic whether or not we have your idiotic PvP mode.

 PvP would not fit into the idea that the universe is fighting a war against the Reapers.  Due to the lore, they realistically wouldn't have time to fight each other.  The only people fighting things other than Reapers and Cerberus Operatives are the Quarians until you deal with the Geth.

pvp=QQ period. good , bad, ugly does not matter. PVP players cry monumental amounts of nerf tears. always have, always will.

PvP in ME would be stupid, unless it was L4D style. I mean, you can make an excuse for player character vs player character (like, it was a simulation) for it to fit in lore, but the gameplay would be ridiculously unbalanced, or stripped down a LOT to be balanced.

I think it would be awesome in MP to let us fight vs NPC's, i dunno, like vs cerberus or the reapers. or the geth, now that would be freakin awesome!

I think the concept is interesting, but as so many others have said, it would be unworkable with the current game mechanics.
On a related note, though, I think it would be MORE interesting if one team were given the ability to play as enemy troops, similar to L4D/2's Versus mode! Here's my idea:

  • The Alliance team plays as normal.
  • The enemy team can have up to 3 players. This is because enemy troops under human control will be much more potent and able to work with the AI much more effectively.
  • Each enemy player is assigned a "Spawn Pool" during each Wave, which is a resource for each Wave that controls how many times an enemy player can spawn during the Wave, as well as the types of enemies they can choose to spawn as. This Spawn Pool is renewed at the start of each Wave, and increases with each Wave. (So on Wave 1, an enemy player might have only 100 Spawn points, but this increases by 100 with each Wave.)
  • Enemy players can also increase the size of their Spawn Pool by destroying player's shields/barriers (+100 points), incapacitating them (+500), or killing them outright, either by executions or one-hit kills (+1000). These increases are cumulative, and last for the duration of the entire match.
  • Each enemy type is assigned a Spawn cost. For example, a Cannibal may be worth 20 Spawn points, a Brute 200 Spawn points, and a Banshee 500 Spawn points. Whenever an enemy player chooses to spawn as an enemy, the cost is deducted from their Spawn Pool. When their Spawn Pool is empty, that player can no longer spawn for the remainder of the Wave.
  • Certain enemy types may not be available until later Waves.
  • The computer will still spawn computer-controlled foes even while enemy players are attacking, but at a much reduced rate than in normal multiplayer. Alternatively, we could bump the number of Alliance players to 6, still have 3 enemy players, but maintain the normal spawn rate of AI-mobs. (I fear this option might be too strenuous on a technical level though.)

The thread has 10 pages, in 3 days. the vast majority of the posts are anti. I would not count on it happening. EA has no reason, and has been given no indication that the investment would be worth it.

Yeah I remember each and every one of those games you claim everyone has forgotten and so does just about everyone else. Even you remember them by your own listing of them so really your just shooting holes in your own argument.

If those PvP games are so great why are you looking for ANOTHER PvP game to play instead of them? Go play them lol. The PvP game scene is so utterly saturated and done to death there is literally no point in adding any more.

Look through this thread from start to finish and count up how many are for and how many are against. Guess what the people who WANT PvP are the minority. It's astounding how delusional you are.

Some changes that would make possible the pvp

1. Add NPC to fight on either side you'll never be fighting alone and Vanguard, will have to think better to charge someone.
2. Reduce damage against other players. The abilities still have the same effect on NPC
3. Increase the cooldown of all skills but no longer share cooldown with others.

Changing effect of abilities against players

Adept

1. Singularity-Hold duration 1 sec reduced by 75% the speed of all players involved in a range of 2 meters inside the Singularity also greatly affects the stability of the weapons. 6.0 sec Recharge Speed
2. Stasis-stun a player for 2.5 sec breaks effect after receiving a certain amount of damage. 9.0 sec Recharge Speed
Rank 6. Creates an unstable field around the person affected by 6 sec inflicting slight damage every 1.5 sec to 2 players in a radius of 4 meters
Rank 6. Create a bubble with a radius of 1.80 meters that remains active for 5sec if a second person comes in contact with the bubble explodes automatically doing great damage to everyone in a radius of 2 meters

infiltrate
1. We can increase the cooldown to 8 sec Tactical Cloak with an additional effect. 75% reduces cooldown if you kill someone while you are hidden. If you take damage from another player the duration of tactical cloak is reduced to 2 sec leaving you exposed
2. How hard is to see a Geth Hunter?
3. You can not kill anyone One shot if you have energy shields
4. Those who play a lot infiltrated know how frustrating it is when the creeps do not stop running, where you are
