As much as I don't want to do this because I have Steam as well, but are we able to register a physical copy of Mass Effect 2 with Origin? I have lots of free time to kill and I want to start from ME2 on my laptop. I also would like to not have to use my discs when playing.

Personally, I wouldn't have either Origin or Steam. If you have any legal kind of ME-2, you can change it into a digital version that plays without a disk, but I cannot tell you how, and there is almost no one around the Tech forums any longer (other than ME-3) who might answer.

I let this go this long to see if anyone else might add any comment. Laptops generally are quite poor for game playing. They overheat, they have badly compromised video, their screens are too small, etc etc. There is a thread you can use about that:

Can my PC run this game? (ME2 / ME3):

Can we find the codes we registered our physical copies of ME2 on this website so we can register it with origin? I don't have my physical copy with me at the moment.

I as that as I am currently chatting with EA tech help.

You existing install has the number recorded from registration, both internally for review using the configuration tool, and on your hard drive in a text file you can access, but I've forgotten where in the configuration or on the disk, and I already uninstalled my copy some time back.

EA does have the data they can look up, but their support employees are extremely incompetent and very badly trained.

I registered my physical copy of ME2 onto origin, when I attempt to launch the game it still asks for a disc to be inserted. Has anyone discovered a way to avoid the need for a disc?

@Surprise, I believe you have to uninstall the physical version you installed, and download the game via Origin.

I bought ME2 Digital Deluxe pre-order on Steam and when I finally got Origin it was already registered on there (I assume because I had registered it on this forum ages ago)

I havent tried launching it from Origin though, but Steam never asks for discs
