I played as an Infiltrator on Insanity, myself. Energy Drain and Tactical Cloak are very useful; use cloak to escape if you see a grenade. If your shields go down, cloak, then ambush a shielded enemy with Energy Drain.

I had a terrible time with this game as a vanguard even at 200% cd. Everywhere there was a turret or ravager or guardians that would start taking down my health as soon as I nova. Or banshees, brutes, atlas would insta kill me. In the end I had to use my guns instead. I don't know how the rest of you vanguard players did it.

Did an adept run and it was soooo easy by comparison.

Insanity on ME3 is a cakewalk compared to ME2 with those damn respawning armoured husks

..Marauder shields you say? Try using energy drain or overload

he might not be playing with a ported over character i found it very hard to do any damage on the begining when the reapers start to attack it took 3 or four shots from my pistol  to even take one bar of damage  off them{ with  a fresh character no porting}

It's not so bad as an infiltrator. I did with capped level 5 weapons.

Valiant + Tempest with L6 cryo ammo to freeze everything, Incinerate L6 to take out armor, Liara for Warp to take out barriers and Garrus for Overload to take out shields. Make sure you're always in cover, retreat and snipe as necessary (Banshees, Brutes).

It was frustrating for me at first, but I decided to upgrade my Valiant to level X, I play an Infiltrator for my Insanity run, the Valiant I prefer in Insanity over the BW because of the low recoil and reload time, this gets around shield gating really easy because with it's comparable damage at level x with a level v barrel and level v concentration mod I can take out shielded mooks with two quick successive headshots. With cloak shooting I can easily take down bigger enemies faster as well.

I also take Liara with me in her cooldown armor and specced for lowest cooldown on singularity, so her singularity is a 2.x sec cooldown. and I use the Reave bonus power so I can combo it on lower level mooks as well, sometimes it seems like a better option that going for headshots on them because it can clear them faster or at least disable most of them so they cant shoot back.

This strategy has worked extremely well for me. and yeah cloaking and running for new cover after grenades are thrown are important, they can ruin your day. I also wear armor pieces that increase headshot and weapon damage to get both as high as i can. That and being fairly patient works wonders.

I don't know if this is news to anyone but I hope sharing my strategy could help someone who is struggling.

I'm owning Insanity so hard with my Vanguard that I keep checking to see if I accidentally switched it to Casual.

It can be a bit challenging in some parts, if you start from level 0 with a non imported character

Played through on Adept/Soldier so far, currently going on a Vanguard. Only issues were parts of Mars (stupid autospec, why aren't my skillpoints free for me to place where I want pre-Normandy?) and the damn Grissom Academy courtyard with the 4 or 5 engineers and pinpoint accuracy grenades from the Centurions/Troopers.

Once you get past that, the Soldier was frustrating vs Kai Leng, the Adept spanked him hard. Everything else was fine.

Is anyone else getting the feeling that ME2 Insanity is worse than ME3? The addition of ROLLing makes a huge difference in my experience. It doesn't matter what class I play; the fact that Shep can cover in .5 seconds versus 2 seconds in ME2 makes it easier for me.

I do hate those grenades though; adept are squishy. But at least Shep can roll. Not like turians or krogans. Ppft.

Might I recommend a Vanguard with 200% cooldown bonus and with Charge and Nova? Be sure to take the 100% barrier refill for Charge and Pierce and Half-Blast for Nova.

Suddenly Insanity is not insane anymore.

Energy drain is pretty handy. I haven't unlocked barrier yet. Any good?

My advice: The radial menu wheel is your friend. Grissom Acad. plaza on insanity took me about 45 minutes, not counting the deaths and retry.

You play those tense battles second to second, make a move, radial wheel, swing the cam around, see where everything and everybody is. Give your homies a command. out of radial wheel, make a move, bring up radial, etc.

I love Bioware's pause and play mechanic.

Without pause and play, I'd find Dragon Age games almost unplayable.
Mass Effect games you miss out on most of the powers (since you can only map five out of sixteen including medigel)

Do you have auto level up turned off? It's in the gameplay options.

As soon as you get control of your character at the beginning you can just open the squad menu and spend your points before even going through the pre-normandy escape from earth area.

I just spam powers o.O
I never use medi-gel and rarely ever die. I kinda find that insanity is extremely easy for my playstyle.
However if I were to change that it would most likely be a different story.

Once you figure out the "trick" to play whatever class interested in playing. Before you learn that trick, it's hard as sh*t.

There are only two parts which are hard, the defend the missile and run to the shuttle at the end of the game.

IA ME2 insanity as an engineer was um, a very interesting experience for me. Initially I found ME3 insanity difficult but once my Shep was leveled up I found it well, not easy, but I didn't die often either, the only time I found the game challenging was when I came up against banshees and then my tatic was 'RUN AWAY RUN AWAY'. I played Infiltrator, started off with Valiant and pistol but then later switched over to carrying just the BW. I was cloaked 99% of the time so between cyro ammo maxed out and headshots the enemy was frozen and dead pretty fast. Since the Infiltrator has sabotage turrets are indeed your friend, as are the geth. I usually brought Liara along for her singularity and warp powers plus I had slam as an extra talent so I could use that as a biotic combo. I switched between bringing Garrus and Ash along with me and armed them up with BW they could snipe too. The good thing about being cloaked is usually the enemy has no idea where you are so therefore no grenades yay! I'm doing a Vanguard insanity run and it isn't too hard except for the turrets which are no longer my friends :(

It's off, but as an imported char on PC your lev 1-30 points are pre-spent. 4 each in incendiary and cryo which means you can't max out your signature ability until either a couple of levels are gained or you finish Mars and finally get access to the Normandy med-bay. So annoying.

Yeah...loading an old save from ME2 is just annoying...and then you still have to spend 1000 eezo (or so) to retrain your skills ( /sarcasm off)

does that only apply if you choose the same class as the import? Cause you can change class when you import and that's what i tend to do and I never had my points pre spent.

First off it's insanity......note the name? I personally used my engineer and used my drone with overload/incinerate and did fine until the waves on earth.
