Well I thought I finally found a good long sword to finally retire my Oathkeeper blade, I have been using it since Lothering and have been hoping for something a bit better ever since.

Last night I got the Topsiders Sword out of the deep roads and thought Great - Finally. But to my disappointment I see that it requires 32 str, My rogue is at 25 (20 + 5). I am now level 17, so I either spend my next 2 levels pumping my str - which I don't want to do - or I find str enhancing stuff. I would like to increase my dps a bit.

Also, I have the dualist specialization and have picked the the talent that gives auto crits (can remember the name of it) for a short time. I see absolutely no damage difference when this is active - So, either something is wrong or I have such a high att that I am always doing crits, I'm not sure which.

My rogue build actually uses high str to wear dragonbone Warden's armor. If you don't want to pump strength, I'd just stick with using daggers.

Sadly all the good long swords require a good strength now there are ways by combining different stat bonus items to get it, the harvest ring a helm (both from the Shale Quest), a very expensive belt also adds a +2 bonus. Though to be honest if you are going down the route of swords an increase in strength is always a bonus as it adds to strenght.

Topsider's Honor, Keening Blade and Starfang all need high strength. So you either pump your muscles somehow or just stick to daggers which are effective enough.

Regarding crits: do you try that while backstabing? You can either backstab or do critical hit, not two at the same time.

Thats not a rogue Image IPB. I prefer high Dex, so I don't get hit. Unless something goes vary wrong, I never loose more than 25% of my health in any given battle, they just - "Can't touch this". Image IPB

I'm still wearing Wades Superior Drake skin.

Either way, my damage stays about the same, back stabbing or not - in fact, now that I think about it, it don't very that much between BS'ing or frontal without that ability. Sometimes I see some really low scores but very seldom.
Humm somethings wrong here I think. Is there a log file for dam that I can examine? will pay even closer att to it now.

the Imperial Edge swords you can get from the Tevinter slavers are pretty nice. Not as good as Starfang and co but in Silverite you need only 27 points in strength and the bonus are good for a rogue.

I'm guessing you did not qualify for "The Edge" from pre-order. That thing out damages starfang minus one rune slot. If not try this mod

http://www.dragonage...file.php?id=200

Basically someone created all the dlc with different names. The Edge is rather good. Called "Clayton's Dirk" in that mod.
