I like the ending so do my friends that play it, only seen people on the internet hate it. i suspect half of those just watched it on youtube out of context. also i havent seen a consistent complaint about it just alot of individuals with there own ending

I, on the other hand hasn't found a single player in real life who liked it: I didn't like it, my brother didn't like it, and the guys who work at the gamestop where I bought it don't like it either.

I know someone who liked it. However, upon pressing him further, it seems he did not actually play any Mass Effect game at all, and was just being douche.

Erm. That chart has an awful lot of down trends on it. Some are more severe than the current one, which itself only just nullifies a recent upturn.

None of them led to the end of the company.

Hey grab that chair would you and put it over here. I'll tell the band to keep playiing jaunty tunes.

*anything that loses nearly 40% of its value in 6 months is in danger of going away.

Another way of looking at it: EA stocks dropped from $55 to $15 within a period of 6 months in 2008 and since then, the price fluctuated between $15 and $25

I know BW/EA sold a lot of ME3 games (2 mil, I think?) But it was the most highly anticipated game of the year, had a long time, solid, devoted fan base. The real test will be if the sales hold up. If they drop significantly, that will indicate whether the issues players have with it are taking a toll or not.
I hope they do take a toll, if only to demonstrate to companies that they really shouldn't mess with a good thing, and that fan reaction matters.

i've got two friends with the game that i've spoken with about the endings. one played through ME2 on his PS3 (like me) the other only got played ME3.

first friend: <insert favorite "i hated the ending" argument here>
second friend: "i didn't mind it, but i didn't play either of the first two, so maybe i'm just missing something."

the first friend and i discussed the problem with him. our second friend now hates the ending.

Here's some food for thought (XBOX 360 version):

5-star amazon reviews
57 (25.7%) like the ending
93 (41.9%) were neutral or offered no opinion about the ending
72 (32.4%) either dislike the ending (60) or support indoctrination theory (12)

4-star amazon reviews
11 (10.0%) like the ending
25 (22.7%) were neutral or offered no opinion about the ending
74 (67.3%) either dislike the ending or support indoctrination theory (didn't track the exact ratio, but the IT supporters were even more of a minority here than they were at the 5-star level)

Now, 4 & 5 star reviews only make up about 30% of total reviews on amazon for the XBOX 360 version of the game, but I think it's pretty telling that ending supporters can't even manage to outnumber the detractors at the 5-star level. It's also interesting to see just how lopsided the reviews start to become in favor of the anti-ending crowd at the 4-star level. I didn't bother to comb through all of the 1, 2 and 3 star reviews, but I think it's pretty safe to assume that the trend isn't going to reverse itself at those levels.

Wow. This is priceless! It's from FORBES magazine!

Mass Effect 3 Ending 'Provoked A Bigger Fan Reaction Than Any Other' In Video Game History
http://www.forbes.co...o-game-history/

"You really have to hand it to the PR folks at BioWare and EA.This promotional image for the game quotes Entertainment Weekly but leaves out all the context, spinning widespread discontent into pure gold:

Image IPB

One can’t help but wonder if this was done on purpose, just to needle
all those “entitled” fans out there clamoring for a new ending. Tout
the perfect scores, and then spin all the bad press over the series
finale by saying that the game has “provoked a bigger fan reaction than
any other videogame’s conclusion in the medium’s history.”

The piece this promotional quotes is a defense of the Mass Effect 3
ending (Its author writes a bit further down: “I’ve always been a bit
skeptical about the rampant entitlement in modern fandom — the pervading
sense that we somehow own these franchises — an entitlement
which more and more seems to have a chilling effect on some of the most
interesting works of sci-fi/fantasy art.” He also mentions George R.R.
Martin and how upset fans are inhibiting his ability to write, which, if
Martin said that, is so obnoxiously untrue it makes me angry just to
think about…)  but really EA could have quoted a negative review just as
easily.

The words themselves give no clue about the fan reaction; but
juxtaposed with all those perfect scores, how could there be any doubt?
Obviously fans loved the game, and especially its conclusion.

They loved the ending more than any other ending in modern gaming’s history."

Maybe in an alternate universe.

And in the mean time EA is still taking a dive.  Another 2% today.  You can buy that bargain if you want to.

Indeed it does. And clearly.. there is this small peak when ME was released and shortly after it all goes downhill. Awesome.
