I think most people hate her because they didn't need to waste time to make a character for her when we already had Emily Wong and even Khalisah al-Jilani to be on the ship instead.

Wow, people are bothered by the fact there are more than two reporters interested in Shepard?

Not really, I think most people don't like her because we already had 2 reporters who would have been perfect canidates for that role but instead they spent time creating Allers.

I took her onboard for the war assets, sad it wasn't Emily Wong. Then I found out you can bone her. So I hit it and quit it.

No, I don't think she added anything to the story. Have to agree with some of the other posts here though; Vega musta been happy for the Jersey Shore reunion.

Ultimately, it seemed like a waste of resources to me. I liked the war correspondent idea, but it didn't do much aside from war assets (though much bigger things got this treatment). Given that very little was done with her, it seems like it would have been a better use of resources to use Emily Wong. The character was already created. Sure, ME3 tweaked a lot of characters, but they wouldn't have had to try to recreate an actual person like they did with Chobot. Such effort could have gone into other things, like say, an actual reveal for Tali's face.

Plus, choosing someone that is affiliated with IGN and has shown up on G4's feedback many times to appear in the game adds to the idea that review sites and game companies are too chummy.

I am fine with Allers; I didn't mind her inclusion at all. I would have actually prefered more interviews and real dialogue with interesting questions/answers based on the missions and actions. All that bothered me about it was how it was clearly an IGN ass-kiss move rather than a "hey, she's relatively attractive so let's have her face-model" or just having Wong instead. But, I am glad Allers was in it due to the fact that it was a part of what made IGN expose just how dishonest and worthless they are.

This thank you I knew I wasn't the only one who thought that this seemed insanely unethical.

I don't mind Allers, but honestly? I'm with the Emily Wong supporters. I'm not sure why there was a push to give us a new character, when there's already one there for us to take and have impact. (Someone we helped build up, and would've been on our side from the start. E.g., trust would not have been an issue.)

Did I like the idea of a news reporter on my ship? At first, the notion didn't sit well with me. But as it played out, a genuine helpful reporter and not a cut&run sensationalist type, I found that I went to see her to see if she'd tell me how things were going. In some ways, I don't think they developed her story nearly enough to make it interesting.

But yeah, I'd have preferred Emily Wong -- certainly over an unknown element like Allers. That entire thing could've been incredibly damaging to the Alliance if she went the other way.

Poor job indeed. I agree that Jessica is pretty. But Diana Allers looks nightmarish.

I like her, she is pretty much a harmless addition into the game, and is well written. Honestly, when you see people saying they want to punch her and throw her out of the airlock, it makes me more concerned for the person, as opposed to the quality of the character.

Edit: According to the Mass Effect Wiki, Diana Allers is worth five. Still not significant, given the role she was purportedly filling.
