You're an idiot.

Stop personally attacking people across the internet and either focus on people you don't like in the real world or shut up.

She didn't add anything to the story that a previous reporter such as Emily Wong couldn't have. Complete and utter waste of time, money, and reputation to voice, model, texture, and animate her, IMO.

I didn't know she was based off of a real person from IGN until after I'd finished the game. I thought her reporting from the Normandy was a great idea. If it were another reporter, say... Emily Wong, I doubt anyone would have had a problem with it.

See, what you wrote is the real problem with Allers.

 Her
character basically took the place of a well loved existing character
that they could have used but instead killed off in a twitter feed.

And please don't tell me anything about ANN, people who read the codex know that ANN is not a part of Alliance forces.

I am honestly curious to see if anyone thought that OP.... it never even crossed my mind such a possibility might exist!

I must speculate on it some more.

The creators had an artistic vision for the game.   A role that only she could fill.   You can't disagree because artistic integrity.

Not sure what the Codex has to do with anything, but that Twitter feed is an official BioWare account and as such is considered, sadly, canon.

Well some people just say that BW didn't choose Emily or Khalisa because they are "free" reporters and Allers is an Alliance News Network reporter.

I had no clue who that was. When I first met the character, I was like 'Uh... I don't know why I would need a reporter, but why not?' After browsing the forums, I actually only found out she was modeled after some girl that licks PSPs. Cool idea I guess. I'm sure feminists aren't happy about her using her feminine wiles and looks to get where she is today, but hey... money and fame is worth it right?

Who also is now a fan of Jessica Chobot because of it?

Also, speculate on how she was able to get into the game.
I couldn't have gotten into the game, neither could you... so
why her? SPECULATE!

I had nothing against her, but aside from helping me gain a couple war assets through a few interviews... She wasn't a very valuable asset, but I didn't kick her out of the Normandy for some reason...

I really don't think anybody has a problem with the concept, just the implementation. Chobot isn't a voice actress, it shows with how woodenly she delivers her lines. Her character design is aweful (even with them trying to recreate Chobot herself, who is an attractive woman) and they already have known characters who could more effectively fill the role.

Didn't really care for her either way. How she got in the game is simple:

Sexually lick things>Get attention>Use attention to get jobs in game journalism>Use job to get into Mass Effect 3

You're an idiot. You're judging someone's entire career based on the fact that you didn't like her character in a video game. Stop personally attacking people across the internet and either focus on people you don't like in the real world or shut up.

Actually, Jessica Chobot became famous after a picture of her licking a PSP was posted online. Sony used the picture for advertising, which increased sales for the PSP and a year later she was hired by IGN.

She licks lollypops and ponies too.

So yeah, her career actually started because she licked a PSP.

To be honest, I didn't care for her one way or another. I only had her on the Normandy for the war assets.
Bioware should have gone for an already established character like Emily Wong.

To be honest, I felt she was a bore... I would have much rathered Khalisah al-Jilani had been our on board Reporter. She was fiery, she asked tough questions, and frankly.. she was tasteh.

I've read that if you don't allow her on the Normandy she dies on board of an alliance dreadnought which was destroyed in Horse Head Nebula... I wonder if this is just a renegade option or a way to make a player feel guilty for rejecting her?

Probably not me. I've never had a bad thing to say about her. Yeah her character was pretty lame and it's a bit odd she got into the game. But hey she's a beautiful girl and I'm a sucker for pretty girls (especially gamers) ; )  I still hate IGN with every fiber of my being but nothing will ever change that.

I really didn't take notice of her, beyond when you say yay/nay to her coming on your ship and the interview requests. Didn't even know who Chobot was till that whole debacle with that one blog post she wrote.

To be honest, I recruited her in my current playthrough and I have no major issues with her. It'd be nice to have Emily Wong of course, but I never had any ill will towards the VO of Diana or even the character itself. I do wish it didn't reek of IGN insert however

Or have Miss al-Jilani, maybe a third renegade option to say eff you, come with me and see the truth for yourself along with the paragon option perhaps?

 PSP licking doesn't make you a gamer, not to mention that we all have different standarts of beauty, some people wouldn't call her beautiful. Nothing personal, I respect your opinion, but the problem would be the same even if Allers was based on Hobot or Robot, or even if she was just not based on anybody Smallers. Still not Emily or Khalisa, still completely raw personality.

Allers being voiced by an IGN employee had nothing to do with this, but I LOVED denying her access to the Normandy.
