Sir? It's ma'am :P My point was that Chobot's appearance or gamer status has nothin to do with rage, no matter how pretty or ugly or what else people see her. If Allers was based on somebody else some people would still hate this character.

Sir.

QFT
not Chobot's fault. Being tied to IGN definitely didn't help the situation though.

Just think about all of those resources devoted to Allers that could have been used for stuff like the Mass Effect 2 characters.

Tali's face is the biggest insult related to those resources, even I have a kind of hatred to what they did with Tali :crying: althoug I'm not a "Talimancer".

I'm kicking her off my ship when I use her to convince the alliance and the council to give the Geth some Thanix cannons and rare material. Then she goes.

That's art. You can't talk about art like that.

Are we talking about Diana Allers or Jessica Chobot? Because they are two different things.

I think the idea behind Allers was a good one. The couple interviews and the bits and pieces of conversation she had were ince, but much more could have been done with it. The model and the voice acting were subpar, as well.

As far as Jessica Chobot goes, I don't know anything about her. I don't pay any more attention to her than I do any of the other voice actors. Who they are outside of the game doesn't matter to me at all.

I agree with this, the idea was interesting but it was poorly done. Chobot isn't an actor or a voice actor, and her model looked more like Snookie. Dat melty face.....<_<

It was mostly for fan service, so I think Olivia Munn or even Felicia Day would have been good to choose for that aspect of it. And they actually have acting experience.

The fact that Jessica Chobot got the part, with no acting experience and is a host and writer for IGN, just isn't right.

She was an Easter egg. Nothing more. That's why there wasn't any character development.

I do agree that there was a missed oppertunity. It would have been nice to have a combat photographer or some such as a companion (or at the very least a background character). What they needed to do was make her character like the cameraman shown during the Klendathu battle in Starship Troopers.

I don't hate the character, because there really wasn't one there. I don't think the writers even expected her to have any place in the story except to be an easter egg.

I didn't know who Chobot was until the rage started. I don't have an issue with her being in the game, though I think the dev time could have been put to better use.

Still, it's not her fault, and I think people are being unfair. If she's a big ME fan, why wouldn't she want to be in the game? It's up to Bioware to make it work (or edit the character out, if necessary).

Agreed. The idea of a reporter on your ship was a great one, but it was the fact that they added a new character without properly fleshing her out or having a decent voice actress. They should have run with the safer bet of using Emily Wong or Ms Al-Jilani instead. Adding in a choice of reporter would go a long way.

I like the idea of having a reporter on the Normandy and doing interviews for the galactic community. Unfortunately, Diana Allers isn't voiced very well and her character model leaves a bad impression. Furthermore, she really didn't add much to the story and her romance dialogue was very lackluster.

It's a shame, because I think she could have added an interesting dimension to the story. Instead, she turned out to be one of my few complaints with the game (other than the atrocious ending, of course).

I felt Chobot COULD have added much to the story. The embedded reporter thing was a good idea, but more needed to go into it. I thought she did a decent job, not terrible, not great, Chobot herself is of no issue to me... the problem was the fact that they really did nothing with it and thus it came off as an excuse to include her rather than an valuable part of the game.

The VA was terrible . I can't believe THIS are the best takes Chobot and Bioware could produce.

I had no clue who Chobot was and even now i don't know anything about her other than her beeing at IGN so her appearance did nothing for me .

The resouces spend on this could have been used for something more interesting.

She was alright. I only started to not like her inclusion after reading some things on here and thinking about it for a moment.
*sigh* Resources that could have been better spent elsewhere. At the very least keep Wong around.

Her character was interesting but there wasnt a lot of substance to her.
the ME series is very much character driven. The Diana Allers character wasnt explored or given any depth other then a few un inspired cut scenes.
Compared to your other crew mates, she functions like ambient noise. Even the conversations with Prothey the Prothean were far more entertaining.

Like so many others, I invited her on board because she had nice boobs.
Nothing more.

I didn't really know who this chobot girl was until after I heard about an IGN writer was in ME3, and I don't really care who she is. I think putting her in the game was a completely stupid idea and it just shows that bioware kinda screwed the pooch on another thing for ME3, but I don't have anything against chobot personally.

Now allers as a game character, was very easily forgettable to me. Like many others have said, Emily Wong would have been a lot better than being shamefully murdered on a twittter feed...

They should have used an already established in game journalist in the same role. And use a voice actor with experience. Hers was the only character throughout the entire game that really just felt like some random stranger reading the script. And I had no idea who she was beforehand and haven't cared to look into why shes somewhat controversial so my opinion isn't based off any preconceived ideas of Ms. Chobot.

And her character model was sorta hideous. Wierdest body model in the game.

The voice acting was better than the material. Not saying she was a good voice actor, but I think it's unfair she's getting blasted for things like Emily Wong being replaced and Tali's face not being used.

As a LI, she was unrefined. As a general character, she didn't provide much to the game. That's not the voice actor's problem. Unlike say, Casper, she's a salvageable character.

One of the things I noticed was the different quality of voice actors between ME2 and ME3. The new voice actors for ME2 were drawn from Star Trek, Firefly, and the Matrix. The new "big" voice actors for ME 3 were Freddy Prince, Jr, and Jessica Chobot.

Compare:
That's ME2' s voice cast video produced by Bioware/EA

With:
Bioware's voice cast for ME3

I wonder if this was inadvertent or the result of a decision to "Broaden" the franchise to the non-science fiction fan. In general, I'd probably pick somebody from an existing science-fiction franchise who has a built in fan base rather than somebody from outside the science fiction genre. If James Vega had been voiced by Nathan Fillion and Diana Allers was voiced by Kandyse McClure (Dualla from BSG), I think even if their performances weren't great, they'd still get a lot more fan support.

While Emily Wong would have been a much more appropriate character to put on the ship, perhaps by rescuing her during the Earth escape (wouldn't that annoy ms Al Jilani? :P ), you do have to admit that her final broadcast was pretty epic.
