Someone from BioWare has stated that Star Child isn't entirely truthful. The Geth and EDI can survive the destroy ending, just that their Reaper-based parts are destroyed. It makes me worry about EDI. I hope she doesn't turn into a dumb VI because of that.
Did someone official state that? If so, then it makes the ending even worse. 'Hey, you -have- to do one of three things this weird child says, but here's the kicker: He can't be trusted!' *cue evil laugh*
I think the bigger issue is that they don't show you the entire crew leaving the ship, so the order appears to be more based on random things. Personally, I can't work out why Joker leaves that quickly. If EDI's dead, I honestly see him trying damn hard to save at last a part of her through the ship.
Assuming that all your squadmates are alive, one would expect them all to leave before the pilot, as would all the remaining non layer crew members. He LOVES that ship - literally. It's crashed and no sooner has it landed then he leaves it? Would the view from the surface of a potentially uninhabitable planet really be more beautiful than one from the seat he would possibly need help getting out of?
I also can't see how he was able to physically survive such an impact. But anyway, my point is that in almost every situation, I can't see him abandoning any part of EDI that might still exist. In the Destroy ending, it should have been someone else leaving the ship in his place, so that the implication of EDI dying would make more sense.
He's certainly not teary-eyed or anything but seemingly quite content... Maybe they were at it, and that's why he wasn't with the fleet p picked some out of the way corner of our solar system, forgetting he had a crew and responsibilities, just to get some man-on-manmade alone time.
