The Dwarf Commoner Origin is actually very enjoyable and very similar to the City Elf. I would highly recommend it. =)

Playing as an elven mage also has small shades of city elf since you're playing as an elf that was raised among humans. (Not as much like the Dalish.) Even though elves are officially recognized as equals to humans in the Circle Tower, unofficially the prejudice still lingers under the surface, and officially your magic makes you a second-class citizen no matter what.

This coming from someone who adores the City Elf Origin and all like it, I highly recommend these.

To be honest, it took me a while to find the right appearance combination too, but I think the story and characters are worth it. I think the dwarf commoner origin is by far the most under-rated and under-played in all DA, which is a shame because I think it has some of the best characters, voice acting, relationships and role-play options in the whole game. A must-try. =)

I'll second/third/fourth the dwarf commoner origin. Getting your character's appearance right makes all the difference for dwarf commoner.

And FWIW, the city elf (female) origin is even better than the male. Once my bride got past the palace, the shems never really knew what hit them. If any answer was even remotely angry or impertinent, then that's what happened. Good times, good times.

I prefer (0, 0). If you want to go all 3D, (0, 0, 0) is the place to be.

City Elf Bride is my favorite story of all the Origins and playthroughs. I loved it so much I've done it twice.

Dwarf Noble is also great, if for no other reason than talking through Gorim in the intro. Image IPB

Human Noble is enjoyable due to how your quest for revenge ties in so tightly to the main plot. And for some fun options at the end.

Yep, I know the human noble origin is rather ubiquitous, but I enjoy how it ties in so well because of Howe.

I found the Dalish origin rather weak, which is a shame, considering how integrated into DA2 they are.

Male Human Noble origin. That was just epic. It's very tragic at the beginning but in the end it was worth it.

Both Dwarf Origins are really well written. I loved Commoner as it was a 'something from nothing' tale and Noble because I genuinely felt my character's loss within only twenty minutes of playing.

I like the Dwarf commoner, but I liked the Dwarf noble better. They're both a lot of fun, but I usually play as an elf (mage, city, or Dalish, I like them all).

You can always just play through all the origins to see which one resonates with you, since they're not that long.

Dwarf commoner is my favorite of the origin stories. It has similarities to the city elf origin in that you start out as low, if not lower in the societal ladder in the dwarf commoner origin as you do in the city elf origin.

Human Noble would be my preferred origin overall for various reasons (mostly due to how seamless it generally seems to be). As evidenced by the comments in this thread, though, both dwarf origins are also interesting. You could give the Dalish a shot if you're into the "start small, end big" kind of protagonist as well.

I think mage is my favorite, but my canon warden is Dalish (still a mage tho).

I'm probably one of the few that love the Dalish Elf origin the most. My guilty pleasure was giving humans a ton of attitude. It could fit well with his/her story if you cared to it.

I've only played Human Noble and Dwarf Noble, both were very good in my opinion.
