As a straight woman it's disappointing that I only have a choice between Kaiden and Garrus especially as Kaiden seems to have turned into a bit of a dweeb since ME1.

He may be a dweeb, but he's my insanely romantic and flirty dweeb <3

Anyways, as has been said, it comes down to resources. As is, it seems like they ran out of time for a lot of things, so they had to prioritize. Who's the main gaming audience? Males. Who are males most likely to play? Straight males. Lesbian females second, because men have some sort of weird obsession with the idea of lesbianism or whatever. Gay males third, as it still plays to the male audience. And who are males least likely to play? Straight females.

But Kaidan and Garrus' romances are both spectacular, second and third in quality overall IMO (to Liara, of course, I've never romanced her and don't desire to but her romances are unequaled in quality and quantity).

I think all in all, Garrus's romance outshines Liara's (especially in pacing and tone), but I freely admit I'm biased.

I don't know. Her romance in ME1 kinda creeped me out. Can't say about ME2 and ME3 though. I don't like her anyway so I'm obviously not the best judge to the quality of her romance XD
I've seen her scenes, and I thought Garrus' were way better.

Garrus has his own charm and as sgt. Avery Johnson once said "I know what they ladies like" Garrus has the same persona about him. I may be wrong about my observation, but from my point of view hes a slick guy.  I also think he is one of if not the most well written squadmate throughout the trilogy second maybe to Liara, but I've never liked her personality much in the first game, and by the second/third she was more of a good but introverted friend.

I absolutely cannot, and will not, get past the appalling revelation that BW "forgot" Thane was a romance in ME2.

WTH?!?!?!?!

It's not that surprising. The guy who wrote Thane in ME2 wasn't present for ME3, which explains a lot, like why Thane does a 180 and is suddenly ok with dying again, or why he's totally fine with sitting in a hospital while the galaxy burns.
Though I feel Thane's inconsitent character development is true for a lot of the other ME2 characters as well.

I just want something other than aliens. We have two males that are the most boring characters in the game.

Men players can say same if we want, we get 2 human females and they are either cocky b1tch or boring god fanatic. So its must alien for me always

I never understood why you'd want multiple romances. I mean you're already fond of Garrus, isn't that enough? I only have one Shepard throughout the series, and one romance; Liara, if she was the only LI avaiable for my femshep, I'd be content, considering that for me, it's adequate. But you're probably different than I am, because the way I see it; you're betraying Garrus of you romance somebody else, not that it matters, because he's a fictional character, but I guess I developed fondness for the characters and mass effect universe. Geez I'm weird, sorry I mised the point of the thread. :P

This, i always pick Tali. Why would i pick anyone else if i like just her? Ofc in "joke" Shepards where i do manatic choises i can pick someone else to try it, but that just ONE time. Its Tali or no body if i play:wub:

Fixed that for you, there are no paramour achievements with Thane OR Jacob. And there's nothing questionable about Liara, she's female.

yeah, I like Garrus. but if it wasn't for the fact the other options either die or run off and knock up some other chick, I would pick them. Yes, I know there is the Kaiden option, but he is kinda boring to me

You know I used to complain that video games never recognized gay people. I always just wanted one same sex option somewhere, so when Mass Effect came out I was stoke about Liara, even if the developers said she wasn't a lady. (Close enough in my book). With Mass Effect 3, I was pretty happy with the gay options for male and female. Afterwards I realized that straight femshep got screwed.

No one liked Jacob, I get that. I found him quite annoying and tried to ignore him as much as possible. I think Bioware could have fixed the straight femshep issue if they had just kept Thane around longer. Maybe instead of dying of his disease so soon, he could have hung around longer.... had more of a romance similar to Miranda's storyline. I'm not saying that is ideal, but it would have been a lot better and more fair if they had made him more present.

I feel like anyone who didn't romance Liara sort of got the short end of the straw. (luckily I loved her)

I liked Jacob. Until the ME3 part. He sure wasn't my favorite, but he WAS a reliable nice solid guy, and that's always kind of charming (also, he's outrageously pretty). Thane is all right, but... uh... Well. You all know the drill. Problem's not him dying for me. Problem's the lack of conversation before and ANY aftermath after. Also, because he doesn't give you an achievement, the crew starts flirting right after his death. Derp.

Still like the Garrus romance more than the Liara one.

That pissed me off, and I'm not even a Thane girl.

I agree about Jacob. Honestly if you removed the horrible flirty tone of Shep's voice and the laughable romance scene, you had some really good material with the guy. In ME2 he's the only one to ask Shep how she's feeling. That conversation was really well done, shame they didn't decide to build up on that and simply got rid of the guy.

Garrus FTW.
