Mass Effect 3 raised the bar so high that I can't enjoy non-bioware games.

No offense, but if Mass Effect 3 is the defining game in your life, you need to play more games.

This.

Yes, how dare someone enjoy a game you don't.

I mean, really. The nerve.

Please, s/he can enjoy the game all they want, but if ME3 is the bar, well...I suppose even Alone in the Dark and COD can jump over it. :P

And the solution is to make fun of someone's personal taste, just because they disagree with you?

Hey I'm not poking fun, I'm just saying there are many, many other games of higher calibur than ME3 and that the OP needs to play those games first before setting a bar for quality.

It's an RPG that deserves the name, unlike Trashrim. Bethesda is going down the same slope as Bioware.

Never played the first two Deus Ex games, but DX:HR is better than ME3 in my opinion, and I'm a big Bioware game fan. I think you're exaggerating a little too much OP. There are much better games out there. FFXIII and FFXIII-2 (especially) come to mind as well.

Agreed. Skyrim actually sucked after I finished it. It's only saving grace was that it was pretty and had a big place to roam. Other than that, it was kinda lame.

ME2 did that for me OP. That's one of the reasons why ME3's ending sucks so bad for me. :P

I have not played ME3 yet but I highly doubt it is better than the original Mass Effect(take into account this is the modern Bioware run by EA where things get worse not better). I think you need to get a grip, hell the Mass Effect series is not even the best Bioware series Baldur's gate is in my opinion,I'm still yet to try it with the big world project which adds countless hours onto the game.Remember the days when people were allowed to heavily mod Bioware games.

You need to play more games then. Seriously if ME3 was the highest bar for you in terms of gaming then you should probably just quit gaming. Like right now.

Even putting endings aside, the game is still vastly overrated. Gameplay was meh and there are plenty of problems here and there.

It lowered the bar so much I actually kind of lost interest in narrative focused games. I'm playing Midnight Club Los Angeles now. Congratulations BioWare.

But that's kinda what Bethsoft does, isn't it? It's not so much that those are saving graces as that they're the thing people really want from their games.

Not really. For one, it's not even a sandbox, which is a pretty big Elder Scrolls distinction. The only similarity between Dark Souls and Ninja Gaiden is the reputation for difficulty and (to a lesser extent) some of the level design. Otherwise, it's a completely different experience from both TES and Ninja Gaiden.

Think Shadows of the Colossus meets Legend of Zelda meets God of War meets Diablo in all the best possible ways.

I will admit Bethesda is good at what they do. I really loved Morrowind, for example. It's just that Elder Scrolls games rarely give any lasting satisfaction, since the experience only ever ends when you get bored of roaming the world, at which point you just switch it off and move onto something else.

Name one other story/character driven RPG out there?  DX:HR, Witcher series, DA series, ME series.... pretty much sums it up for the last few years.

Frozen Synapse and Minecraft are competely awesome games, too.   But we are talking apples and oranges in that case.

You know what like, games that set a standard and attract people who, when disappointed, decide to flame absolutely everyone who thinks otherwise. The op should quit gaming? Who exactly are you? The op's bar is too low? What have you done in your life that gives credence to that statement? Better yet, what is in your gaming resume that Makes your oppinion matter more? Before you trolls answer, lemme do it for you. It doesn't matter what your resume is because the is all subjective. The op is justified to discuss his feelings for the game without the pale skins jumping him. Sun. Outside. Seek it. You douches remind me of phish fans. I buy one cd and try to discuss only to be told "your not really a fan unless you saw this one solo at this show back in 97". Nothing and no one is good enough for any of you. I take solice in knowing most of you won't breed for lack of intrest from the opposite gender (which is why most of you played this game in the first place I am sure for the relationship simulator...newsflash, no such thing as asari).

I have to say....I somewhat agree. I haven't finished ME3 yet but it's doing the same thing as ME2 did. The effect ME2 had on me didn't last forever, but for a while most if not all games seemed like they were missing something.

ME2 and ME3 might not be as deep as ME1 or Jade Empire or KOTOR or whatever, but it's very cinematic....it's like playing and making choices in your own movie. Thats something that isn't done as well in other games.

OP, these type of games make you a appreciate lesser games more after a while though. You tend to understand what you like about your gaming experience and then enjoy other games for what they are. Like Serious Sam just isn't an ME game.....b/c it wasn't made to be.

Theres nothing wrong with ME2 or ME3 being your favorite games. Just remeber to give other games a chance.

After finishing Mass Effect 3 I've been unable to bring myself to play non-bioware games.  Bioware I just want to say you did a fine job with ME3.  However, it's important you understand my dilemma. You raised the bar so high with ME3 that now I have no single player game to play.

Please consider making more games like the following:

Dragon Age Series
Mass Effect Series
Witcher Series (I know it's non-bioware but it was inspired by Bioware. Witcher 1 used aurora engine by bioware)

These have been my favorite single player RPG's to play since 2007.

However there isn't enough Bioware games.  Please come up with more new & original series and release them in such a way where I'll always have an epic single player game to play. Thank you. The next game I have to look forward to is Dragon Age 3 and who knows how long that will be.

What does this have to do with Mass Effect 3? ME3 raised the bar so high that I don't know what games I'm going to play after KOTOR 1 & 2.  Bioware please make more games.

I looked at other sub-forums and had no idea where else to post this thread, my apologies.

We'll never see something like that again. (Despite the "make no sense ending).
If you haven't played Baldur's Gate 1/2 also amazing games.

Try Alan Wake (PC) - amazing game.

Diablo 3 -> Max Payne 3 -> Dark Souls for PC
I have a plan. Although I would love a Jade Empire 2 by Bioware.

The Witcher 2 turned me off of gaming, similar to how I COULDN'T play any other games after the Suicide Mission in ME2 ended. It was just TOO AMAZING.

The Witcher 2 is... just... it's just so...

****ing satisfying.

No, because nothing you do in Witcher 2, will extremely affect the ending of the game. You just have to wait for Witcher 3.

Oh, I'm having a deja-vu.

In all honesty Mass Effect 3 was a great game right up until the ending, I do feel that Bioware should have listened to their fans a bit more on this and provided an option for the perfect ending, Hell make people have to jump through hoops to get it but at least give that option, Imo the game was well polished right up until the end and then it just seemed wrong as if slapped together in a bid to get it over with. It's a shame some people on both sides of the argument where so vindictive as ultimately what should have been the great end to the best triolgy of games was overshadowed by fighting and a weak ending.

You know what, and not saying this to be nasty or start a flame war, but it felt like a bread and butter EA game.

To me it felt like an Obsidian Entertainment made sequel.

All the way through I could hear the Obsidian mantra of "that'll do" ringing in my hear.

How are the animations coming. Oh that'll do.

Finished the journal yet. Oh that'll do.

Fleshed out the side-quests? Eavesdropping, that'll do.

Though to be fair the last Obsidian game I played, Alpha Protocol, did manage a more statisfying resolution than Mass Effect 3.
