Mass Effect 3 raised the bar so high that I can't enjoy non-bioware games.

Although I'm hoping that the ending DLC severely improves on the current ending, I agree with the OP. Mass Effect 3 was such a joy to play, I'm not sure where to go. Skyrim? Diablo 3? Or maybe I'll replay Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, before waiting for some ME3 DLC (in addition to the ending DLC) ......

WRONG !  There was some outcry over how short the third chapter was in comparison with the first two but it isnt to be compared with the ****estorm here.
Btw i loaded 3 of my 7 saves of TW2 and ALL my decisions are reflected in the ending cinematics. They promised and they delivered .

Im indifferent to the ME 3 endings though as i never viewed the series as an RPG to begin with.

The DEVs said that the fan feedback they got, told them that the fans were not happy with the ending.
Are you implying that the DEV of Witcher 2 are lying, just to add more epilogue? That doesn't make any sense.

ME3 lowered the bar so low, I am actually playing Fifa 12 and thinking about buying MW3.

I will say that the Mass Effect trilogy has raised the bar ridiculously high. Even my former favorite series, Halo, doesn't have the same draw over me that it used to.

However, I like a variety of different games. I've been playing careers in NBA 2k11 and NHL 12 recently. I still have a Fallout 3 game I haven't finished. A Gears game I haven't finished...

Unfortunately, the game lowers the bar so much that I got more enjoyment out of Dick Tracy for the NES..... still can't get past the first level, but the pain makes me forget the last 15 minutes of ME3.

The only other single player RPG I've tried was Skyrim. Honestly, I finished the main story, then I got bored. The whole idea of a sandbox RPG where you can do anything, kind of left me saying, "I finished the main campaign. Now what?". Even got searching "things to do in Skyrim". I don't have that issue with the Mass Effect series.

However, with other non-RPGs, I guess I haven't touched them in a while because I've been so focused on Mass Effect 3 lately.

I don't know much history about CDProjekt but I have never heard or remember hearing so much about them until the first Witcher.  So basically they made 1 game THEN started getting so much praise.

These tutorials and such that make games easier to get into don't make the game less deep.  The first Witcher didn't have this but lots of PC gamers mistook this for being deep.  The different tabs and whatnot you had to go through to get things done through alchemy and such was ridiculous.....but again, it wasn't user friendly so lots of PC gamers went "THIS IS DEEP!!!"

Then TW2 is annouced and PC gamers all around boast about it.  When it comes out, it's nothing like the original in terms of combat and mechanics.  It seems more action oriented....then the 360 version is confirmed.

Well, well.....not only that but they include an arena and a tutorial.  Things that back in the day lots of PC gamers said made games worse b/c gamers were stupid now-a-days and should read the manual.

TW2 is more consolized than the first.....but it is better.  But PC gamers had already put CDProjekt and TW games on a their shoulders and couldn't take it back.

Just how I see it.  There are devs that get bad wrap b/c they try and make their games less niche and more accessible and fun and get hammerred for it.

I think you are misinformed and have a compeletly vague idea why TW2 gets so much praise. Or why did TW1. If you think that it was the extensive journal that was DEEP, then I have nothing more to add... try to dig deeper nex time maybe?

Well thats what you get for thinking.

Anyway, I never really said why.....so condiscending question to make  me feel better???????????????????????????

I am currently playing Deus Ex HR, and haven't even started Skyrim, and going to get Witcher 2. There are so many great RPG games out there, only downside is most aren't set in space.

Mass Effect 3 does set the bar on emotional storytelling through much of the game's run though. The relationship with other companions were amazing well-done. A lof the story closure (such as on Rannoch and Tunchunga) were deeply engaging. I actually laughed and teared up multiple times throughout the game.

That is a BIG BAR for other games to match. Yah the ending sucked, but it seems just as rediculous to say that it lowered the bar s that it tainted all other games.

I agree with the OP, no other game has been able to compare to the ME series for me.
Improved endings would just make it that much better. But either way it remains awesome in my eyes.

There are a couple of games mentioned in this thread that I have never tried however, so not discounting them.

DA: O was one of the defining games of my life withthe story, and the way my choices were reflected in the end. ME3 was good, but not genre defining.

But hey, if you like it, good for you.

I feel the same, not ME3 specific, but ME in general. It was the first game (other than lego games) that I played, and I have yet to find another that intrigues me as much. ME has ruined other games for me cause I always compare them... and ME always wins. So, I think to myself, why keep playing 'this' game, when it's not as fun as ME when I can just make another character and play ME again

That said, it's not just game mechanics or it what not, it's the setting and story that make it hard for me to like other games. I'm a fan of space-fiction, not fantasy, and love the rpg factor ME has. I have not yet found another game that is comparable in this factor; travelling in space as a human and rpg.

But I'm open to suggestions, cause I am new to gaming and obviously don't know everything that's out there.

No offense, but if Mass Effect 3 is the defining game in your life, you need to play more games.

This.

Yes, how dare someone enjoy a game you don't.

I've had quite the opposite. ME3 put my bar so low on "good" games that low budget RPGs like Divinity 2 are better and I find I enjoy them a lot more now.

late posting and a bit off topic, but have you played the remastered version of that game ? To be honest its one if the best RPGs of its type I have played in awhile.

Ok back to topic! as some have mentioned ME3 is not SOO ungawdly great it out does all other games, take the TES series for example, I have yet to meet someone that Didn't like that series after playing it, also you can ACTUALLY mod it! what a concept! and yes I know ppl did mod ME2 etc but you Had to use Texmod to get it to work an that almost always cut your FPS in half no matter what your system was for those that used it.
