7) Giving Anders another cat (he could have kept it at Hawke's house!)

Not at my Hawke's house. Her dog would have killed it. Purely to spite Anders for kicking him out of the bed.

From the list:  Origins

Not on the list, not being considered:  Non-voiced protagonist with simple list of response options

Not on the list, proposal under consideration:  Armor customization for companions.

Here's what I felt was the worst cut or lacking in DA2:

1) The charm/persuade/threaten options

2) Being able to talk to my companions when wanted, not when they demanded

3) Deeper conversations about your companions pasts, more interaction with them in general

4) DA:O style romance scene (even though they weren't fantastic they were still better than DA2)

5) Different origins (elf, dwarf, human, my edit)

8) Party camp (or somewhere everyone could gather in one place to sort out your companions inventory etc)

6) companion customization, Origins style. I want to put armor on anyone who´s experience points I have arrange so that they can wear it.

7) Origins talent trees, expecially mages

Thats about it.

He could keep it in his bag or something, like he did in Awakening LOL.

The finishing moves/messy kills! I miss those so much. A body simply falling apart into five pieces is just not the same.

DA:O style overhead camera angle.

Nothing frustrated me more than fighting the camera more than the actual enemy. Running around with the camera behind my character's back is fine out of combat but pulling back to plan and position your party should never have been taken away.

Hugs and kisses whenever you want
Camera that doesn't keep tilting so you're constantly having to adjust it.
Central meeting place to talk to and change inventory on npcs.
More meaningful talks and banter with npcs and especially LIs
Upgrades for npc armor without having to search all over Kirkwall for them.

The variety of locations (recycled maps - argh!)

A close second would be not being able to equip companions as I saw fit - if I want a 2-handed Warrior in my party I *have* to take Fenris, even if I hate him (I didn't, except for his silly hair). Why couldn't I get Aveline to wield a 2-hander?
I loved the fact that Lelianna seemed to be 'sold' as a rogue who fought with 2 swords in Origins but I gave her a bow and she was great with it. Likewise, I made Oghren a Sword & Board warrior in Awakening, even though he comes with a 2-hander. I *REALLY* want this back.
The worst example is Merrill not being able to heal - booo! She didn't have to have a full healing tree like Anders or Spirit Healer but at least the basic 'Heal' skill. It rather forced most players to either bring Anders along or make Hawke a mage.

There is plenty to choose from, including:

- Item descriptions

- Item pictures

- Persuasion skill

- Party camp

- Using your fists in combat

- Having warriors use bows, rogues use 2-handers, etc.

- Murder knife

- Origins

- Female Dwarves

Personally, I miss the Origins the most out of all the cut content from DA:O. It added so much replay value, yet they decided to cut such an awesome feature in the sequel.

Murder knife is in DA2...

But I agree...not enough murder knife!!!

Well party camp is kinda "Hawke estate". So I wasn't bothered with it.

Murder knife was still there too...

But I'd say Dwarf women.

Persuasion, by far.

Next I'd have to say, being able to kiss/roll in the hay with your love interest whenever you wanted.

Whoa. The murder knife's still there.

How dare you impugn it.

But it wasn't the same knife. That's the problem. :P

True story - for the longest time, it -was- the same knife. Then we realized that it was hideous and extremely low poly, so we went with the new murder knife.

I think there's at least one or two scenes where it wasn't changed, but I may be mistaken. That may have been something I did after a couple of drinks and later reverted upon returning to sobriety.

I hope it pops up in every DA game with no explanation.

I miss scouting with stealth, using stealth to load up an area with traps, using "arrow of slaying" on an enemy mage while under stealth.

I miss being able to position party members prior to battle.

I miss being able to have EVERY party member being able to pepper the enemy with arrows.

Personally:

1) Party hub

Not for the discussions (because I felt both games handled it about equally well, except for DAO's encyclopedia approach and DA2's NPC ultrafixation) but for equipment. Even though DA2 had FAR less party equipment customisation, it was still far more tedious to outfit your characters because you had to constantly switch them out by leaving/entering your home or close to a party loadout.

2) Weapons free-for-all

DAO had an IMMENSE strategy component in the fact that, if having the stats, anyone could wear anything. Improved in Awakening with the stat reset (Manual of Focus <3) which added another pretty layer of party customisation. At the end of Awakening, my party consisted of a DW Rogue (me), 2H Mage for Tanking (Anders), Armored Blood Mage (Velanna) and a Spirit Warrior Archer (Oghren). I had a blast with them. While it is true DA2 streamlined and improved weapon use overall, the 2 options per class rubbed me the wrong way somewhat.

3) Static equipment

I liked the fact that DAO offered armour and weapons that was always going to be useful, simply because it was DESIGNED to be good. There's a serious flaw if DA2's iconic armour (the Champion's) was outclassed for me halfway the third act (before I even had the last piece, mind you!) by standard armour dropped by mooks. Either introduce more levelling gear (like most of the class Pack DLC's weaponry/Bianca), or return to static gear.

4) Reusable runes

Because you only gave us one Primeval Lyrium Rune.

5) Wade & Herren

Because the games are just too plebeian and drab without them.

--------

Those mainly. I don't care much for origins, female dwarves or conversations anywhere. Actually, I really disliked the latter, because sometimes the game targeted a companion without my being aware, and when I pressed the engage button, my Warden would engage in conversation I didn't want. Made more annoying by the fact that it wastes quite a bit of time and it sometimes activated these "Answer me OR DIE" conversations (y'know, the character important ones) that drag on for way too long, can't be stopped and possibly enables an ambush next time I travel.

I kid, I kid. I really want to play as an Elf and Dorf again though.

Time. As in development.

Honestly though environment variety is the most obvious, though I would also suggest sometimes some characters and quests seemed to lack being proof read. Like Charade.

Great, more crude material. That wasn't in origins and neither were...you.

To the OP:

I know it wasn't dao but I liked awakening's variety of crafting options. The runes we had were...limited.
