I like her a lot. She's always in my party and I romance her every chance I get.

I was fine with her up until she started going on about shoes. From that point on, she never left the camp. Only talked to her just enough to get her side quest and that was it.

Shoes are the exact reason that light the correct bulb in my brain! This lady knows, she really does! :)

Usually, pious individuals who claim their god talks to them annoy me. Vapid obsession with shoes also annoys me. At least she doesn't constantly talk of the Maker and her 'vision', and at least she only refers to her shoe obsession once, which I simply take as a clue as to the types of gifts I should drop onto her.

Yet for all that obsession with potentially imaginary all powerful creator entities, and with shoes, I still like Leliana.

I dunno... I guess I am a bit of a sucker for a pretty redhead with a lovely voice, exotic accent and a background mired in things that aren't exactly so angelic.

I have met plenty of schizophrenics who are very, very cool people. Her visions are not a problem to me.

I like her, and the fact that she likes shoes. She doesn't seem overly pushy with the whole Maker thing, unless of course, you have Morrigan in the party at the same time. Good thing my Morrigan stays in camp >.>

Hmm. I wonder - as a character, she's fascinating given her backstory as bard, her attempt to escape from Marjolaine, her bisexuality, her lines with Sten etc.

But somehow, the actual implementation didnt seem to work for me. She just came across as all sugary and sweet, and the steel that should have been there never really displayed itself.

Wynne=Blossom, Morrigan=Buttercup, Leliana = Bubbles. (Though I think when Bubbles went badass she went awesomely badass. Leliana never does)

I like her with Sten. The two are cute together. She gets more well-rounded as you get to know her better. I love it at the end i fyou have her along and switch to her to open a locked crate...and she just giggles. Now that's cute.

I don't see her as bad-ass either, but I get the very strong feeling that the game wants me to think that she is. Like several conversation options are along the lines of "Where did you learn to fight like that" and "I've never seen anyone from the chantry fight like that before". I don't know. It just doesn't work for me.

If you build her right, she's as valuable a fighter as any of the other characters. They can all be lethal, but not if you don't arrange their skills and talents correctly. It's like people saying Alistair isn't a good fighter. He's whatever you make him, and by far the best fighter in my party. My PC is second, because I end up using so many points on coercion and cunning rather than strength and dexterity. If you're playing a character he likes and respects, he gets a tone of constitution bonuses, as well. This playthrough, I've used Leiliana more and am finding her much more viable than I expected. Next go-round I'm going to work harder at leveling her well, and I expect her to do very well.

Leliana... Leliana...

Disappointment, really. She looks like a generic NPC, she's got god awful voice acting, the auto-level up for her is utterly trash (and I'm not going to use it this time!) and she just drones on and on.

On a visual level, she's not well designed. You could put her in a sea of the redheaded female Human NPCs and not be able to pick her out. She's almost completely different to the CGI model in the Sacred Ashes trailer, which is irritating as Morrigan and Sten were fairly close to their game counter parts alongside the Darkspawn.

Her voice just doesn't fit her, either. Wouldn't say it's "French" by any means, just weird. I actually thought she had a speech impediment, but apparently not. Some of the things she comes out with can be quite funny, and she can be really sweet, I just don't "buy" her as a character.

Think BioWare dropped the ball on her, the other party members are fine in my experience.

Pious, flawed, seeking redemption, listens to the good voice in her head, Joan of Arc complex, in possession of an accent the average man would kill another to hear everyday, red hair, perfect mouth, great song, came clean as to her past when she trusted you, great human duality in being a girly-girl and an &$$-kicking fighter---(reagardless what has been posted, one should actually put some time into her tactics screen, use her as a melee archer, equip her with Marjolaine's Recurve [active Rapid Shot] and, in the end, she was two points ahead of Morrigan for damage and rarely goes down if you set her as a Ranged fighter)---was not a social retard like the swamp witch, and had proper affect in her approval of your actions if you were oriented toward "doing the right thing.".

No I didn't find her irritating.

I only have one problem with Leil and its technical in nature....you have to be very, very careful what you say to her or you might find yourself romancing her by accident.

Other then that, I love the girl she's great fun and gives me the mosts challenging quest in the game... I say that with no hyperbole as there are about a zillion threads asking how to beat Marjoline

I don't dislike her, she's just too girly and a bit fluffy for my liking. But having her means I get a nug named schloomples in my camp, and so long as i can steer the subject away from hair, shoes, or religion, she's pretty tolerable.

And Ramsay brought up another point: her tendancy to "stealth love" you, and then flip out when you break off your non-existant romance. Really annoying, as I was certain the conversation options I chose were neutral and friendly, or at least seemed so to me.

when you get her approval rating really high and you select her in party to control her she does a little hehe sort of laugh. Crazy chicks laugh like that believe me I know that laugh all to well.

Yes. Her accent is like some made up combination of french and Cindy Brady. It's like she almost has a lisp but not quite. She's way too girly for my tastes and when you do romance her, I want to smack her for getting all pouty that you made her tell you first. I mean, really? Wouldn't a normal person feel relieved to know that you feel the same way? Who the hell would react that way? She's a little too religious for me too. I'm religious, I just don't like people who can't talk without bringing it up. They are generally the most hypocritical. Which, considering how willing she is to walk around stealing from everyone in sight, means, to me, she's in the same camp.

That being said, I think her voice actor is pretty good at the acting part. I don't hate her, I just wish she'd shut the f**k up.

I love that line. And I love her as a character. She's about as close to irresistable as I've seen an in-game character to me.

And seeing as every, single, game she holds the in-party record for highest single-target damage dished out in my party, I don't get the "oh she doesn't fight well" carp. Give her the archer line, including arrow of slaying and scattershot. Give her the recurved bow, and let her snipe at the PC's target. If I'm a mage and I can't lay an AoE smackdown to pull the enemy, I'll send her around the corner with Arrow of Slaying and say good night to the enemy mage.

There's certain characters you get rather late that are borked as a result. But anyone complaining about Alistair, Morrigan, or Leliana's level up...I have no sympathy. And if you use auto-level, I absolutely have no sympathy, because that means you can't be bothered to think about planning your party.

There'[s just something about her. I hate her voice, and her 'vision', and how she's got this annoying chantry vs bard thing going on, but doesn't really show much of either in her personality.

Grr, I wish she were dead. I'm glad I was a rogue this time ;)

no my cousin can't stand her!!! I don't find her annoying b/c I take the good side but b/c of that I find Morrigan to be the most annoying person in the world. Saving babies from a fire would even annoy her & give you -approval!

Morrigan is probably worse when it comes to forcing beliefs on people then Leliana.  ( I like both of them though)

Having grown up with a single mother and 2 sisters it actualy became impossible for me to notice anything irritating about a female. If they start yelling or talking nonsensical jibberish my mind seems to just blank it out and I begin to hear my favorite music.

So no I guess not. I do like red heads and that might have something to do with it...

I am so glad you asked, because I do find Leliana irritating. She is nice but creepy and her facial expressions weird me out. I am a rogue in many of my play throughs because I like to open chests but I hate having her with me until Zevran comes along.

I would like to congratulate whoever is responsible for the authentic female group dynamic. I want to slap Morrigan, have a nice cup of tea with Wynne and sleep with one eye open when Leliana the Chucky doll is around.

I fins Leliana very attractive. That accent is spot on- the voice actor does her well.

Now, as a party member? I keep her around to pick locks. No matter what armor she's in, she's made of paper, and the armors all make her look extremly ugly, from the neck down. Ugh, especially that dwarven armor I put her in. Bowlegged skinny stick legs.

That's because the voice actress Corinne Kempa is French - therefore she has a good idea of the accent methinks :)
