Wth is so great about this Cullen guy anyway? From what I remember in DA:O he was mostly just an insecure nuisance.

Cullen was... completely smitten with FMageAmell, to the point that you could see it was literally driving him crazy. He knew practically everything about her because it's a Templar's job to watch, but engaging her in any sort of interaction was practically forbidden. Then he's the one picked to put the sword through her belly if she fails the Harrowing, and you can see that he's not sure he can bring himself to do it, even if she does turn into an abomination. He's untested. And the way he's so proud and impressed with her for passing is endearing.

Then later, you find him tortured and he accidentally admits that your memory is what the demons use to torture him with. He wants all the mages destroyed, but if Greagoir gives the order to let it be, he stands down like a man.

When you meet him in Kirkwall he's changed completely. Level-headed and grown up, but if you import your FMAmell when you speak to him you find that he's never forgotten her, even after all this time.

So, I guess to be blunt - these are the things that tug on a woman's heartstrings.

Strength, vulnerability, dedication to a cause, dedication to his woman, supportive, dependable

And most importantly, a girl just loves the idea that to a man she's unforgettable. That she takes his breath away. That he'll never give up on her, no matter what.

It wouldn't matter if Cullen looked and sounded like Bodahn, female DA fans would still by all "aww, that's so sweet!" and line up to kiss his forehead.

So for those of us who didn't get to take it anywhere with our DA:O Amell, we're excited by the prospect of filling that void she left in his life.

^ Well said! I guess we just want the chance to see him happy after all the crap he's been put through over the course of two games and if that happens to be with our new hero in DA3 then that's a bonus!

I'll also mention that he loves female elf mage, too. Not just an Amell. But he doesn't mention her in DA2, since there's no connection. Sigh.

Aw, he's so sweet in DA:O. I'm glad they prettied him up a bit more in DA2 though, now he's a total babe!

They did give him a serious upgrade. every time you walk up to him and he says he's at your service... *quiver*

You know, I think what made me most upset about the Anders romance was that I felt so cheated. I think the writers did this on purpose, but it's frustrating. That charming, carefree, funny Anders? He was completely inaccessible. The "I just want to settle down with a pretty girl and shoot lightning at fools" Anders. There was like a promise of all this fun, lighthearted romance... and then the promise was broken. Like my little green heart.

I thought that the romances in DA2 were too similar, they were both sort of a love/hate relationship with the whole 'fix me thing'
for people who didn't like that there was nothing to choose, and then people like me pulling there hair out trying to decide! 

Yeah, I'm not into the whole "My life is miserable. I like it that way. No matter how hard you try you will never be able to help me past this." thing. It's... unhealthy and unattractive. In the end even Sebastian's weirdness was more appealing to me and I left the other guys in the friend zone.

I just... oh no.
I just realized. What if the writers bring back Cullen - and then Andersize him? What if he's irrational and angry or pouty beyond repair?

I'll probably spend hours making her, start playing and hate how she looks in game, delete the character and then make another until she's perfect lol.
