Not sure if this is common or my hands just have some weird fear of the number 3, but while I can use the 1 and 2 hotkeys naturally, the 3 key usually makes me fumble or distract me for a few seconds while I try and hit it properly.

Really wish we could map our own hotkeys like in Singerplayer, due to my finger-fumbling I really can't use any skill that falls on a "3" key properly. And some of those powers are really stellar...

You can map your own hotkeys

as a Vanguard I map charge to scroll up
as a Sentinel I map overload to scroll up and warp to scroll down

Do you have a mouse with more than three buttons? You could always map one to the 3 key.

its more annoying that GE's have hunter mode mapped to 2 and GI's have hunter mode mapped to 3. <_<

I technically do, but that middle key is REALLY stiff and doesn't go off 3/4 of the time... I never use it XD

Hm, I never really thought about it. Now that you mention it though... how do I manage to hit the '6' key instead of the '5' or '7'? I think I just use my index finger. Same for the '3', Middle finger for '2', and ring finger for the '1'.

I sometimes accidentally press 5, which causes my character to pull out his rocket launcher, meaning I need to wait another 1-2 secs before I can heal. I usually die in that time...

I remapped 6-7-8 but I have no problem up to 5.. 5 is rocket so not using that much, 4 does nothing in MP.

Mid-gel is caps lock, survipal pack is ", ammo is tab.

You could try to change 3 for caps lock or similar. Maybe even shift, does nothing on MP anyway...

I don't use the 3 hotkey in MP, I keep my things binded to E Q and 1 for my three abilities, I find that is very convient

My problem occurs with the 1 and 2 keys. Sometimes I hit one instead of the two on my Krogan vanguard causing a Biotic charge instead of carnage. I end up across the map surrounded by enemies.

Nope. As vanguard, I'm just 1-3-shoot-roll-1-3 all day erryday.

 Yeah, I'm with Merforga. Honestly, anything past 4 is a bit of a reach. Literally.  That's why I remap keys 5 through 8 to Z,X,C,V (and change whatever those are by default to something else.

As some have said, i map 1-3 to my 2 thumb buttons and the mouse wheel button on my (new, yipee!!!) Razer ME3 Imperator, have no trouble at all now

i use a naga mouse...dont care everything is on the mouse so no it doesnt bother me

Its like a little control panel. It took some time to get used to but its great once youve got it down! All the hotkeys, without having to reposition your hand or fingers at all

heh i have a ten button mouse all the keys i use most are mapped to it....anything else is quick hit from cover..

Just curious, do you all play with WASD configuration and use the mouse with your right hand? I use the mouse with my left hand, which makes Numpad 8/4/6/2 my movement keys, and backslash (or is that forward slash), asterisk and plus my power hotkeys.

The funny thing is, I do struggle to hit Numpad 3 (melee). Should probably re-map that, but it's too in-grained in habit now.

I never once had a problem with #3. The only problem I have with hotkeys is when powers for one race or class are switched around for another. They should've been standardized in some way, like Decoy, Turret, Drone should always be #1.

This. Pressing 5 by accident makes me unable to use it while taking out the launcher.. so = dead.
