Meh, Harbringer was too bland for me. I preferred Sovereign.

If BioWare wants to keep the StarBrat scene, they damn better make it clear that it is nothing more than an avatar for Harbinger so Shepard is more receptive to what Harby has to say instead of remaining a demigod befitting of some fantasy setting hastily and awefully pasted into ME.
It's the only way that deus ex machina contraption can make some sense in my mind.

edit: So we're clear: I despised Harbinger in ME2, I thought his taunts were annoying and his threat was, at most, laughable.
Still, after all the buildup and exposition of the character, almost completely disregarding it the way BioWare currently has is even worse.

This will not end well...

It is a matter of preference, but Harbigner has my vote. I like a trash talker.

Sovereign is dead and gone.

At least we can hope with Harbinger.

This, although to be fair if Harbinger got some more lengthy dialogue as well as his battle quotes, there'd really be little difference between the two.

At the end of the day, I want a showdown with the Big Bad, not a ridiculous space brat!

Sovy Boy is dead, so we must make do with what we have. And Harbinger was built up during ME2 and its DLCs as the "face" of the Reapers, the Villain, the Big Bad Bawss.
Why they then scrapped a confrontation with it (while also stripping Harbinger of virtually any physical or intelectual presence/menace) and favored a meeting with a contrived Deus Ex Machina, I'll never get.

Oh, wait, I do. They wanted lots of speculation for everyone. Narrative integrity be damned.
Oh, wait, we can't because it'd invalidate their claim to Artistic Integrity... but then they already invalidated their artistic integrity by compromising the theme and narrative coherence of their own work...

Yes but i'm assuming you prefer Harbinger to Starjar-frikken-binks right?

Such a great and ominous character to be mysteriously missing from the grand finale. Truly deserves a chance in the EC.

We know that reapers are made of lots of different species, hence the human reaper in ME2. I think i read somewhere that all reapers look the same, but they have an "inner reaper" that reflects its parent species.

So what's inside Harbinger? What race was he made from? Can we shoot his weak point for massive damage?

perhaps from a very ancient race, first ones, the originals, and malevolent beings, intent on consuming everything. hope Bioware explores more on this on the extended cut.

my first playthrough i didnt even notice that was harbinger at the beam to the citadel. i must have missed that 5 second scene where the reapers eyes flare yellow kindof like harbinger.

yeah, i thought harbinger woulda been as infinately more epic then soveriegn.

but again, i didnt even notice him in ME3.

I will have to say I want to see more of Harbinger. When he landed at the beam to repel Hammer group's charge, I was kinda psyched up. I was expecting a booming voice saying "DIRECT INTERVENTION IS NECESSARY" before he started blasting away at our suicidal charge. I was disappointed when he stayed silent.

I miss his cheesy, Snidely Whiplash one liners......:(

Seriously, though. Harbinger was a scary mofo in ME2. The fact that he CONTROLLED more than one organic being at a time AND the voice was intimidating to me. It was like seeing the reapers' (or maybe Harby's) utilization of Paul Grayson's body in-game through a collector. Harbinger had no lingering emotion or doubt. He wasn't just sure of what he says, he almost knew that that was what will happen when he says "THE FORCES OF THE UNIVERSE BEND TO ME." That right there shows it was meant to be THE reaper, THE final confrontation of reaper forces in the ME trilogy. Hell, the codex even states it is the older and possibly largest reaper and is further reinforced by the aggression Harbinger displays when blasting Hammer. No other reaper attacked so fast and tenaciously. It saddens me that this was all tossed away and contradicted heavily for the sake of a bullsh*t final 10 minutes.

- Before blowing him up, Shepard tells Harbinger to shut his fat pie hole
- Scratch the Hot Tub Party. Replace it with "Beers with friends on a pile of rubble." More poignant with the level of devastation wreaked upon the galaxy, showing what they have and have not lost
