Well I figure, WTH! they couldn't possibly screw things up anymore then they already have as far as the endings go. Having a Normandy vs Harbinger would just be slightly less ridiculous then Shepard vs Giant Terminator imo

We definitely need more Harbinger. As the primary antagonist of ME2 and the lead ship of the Reaper invasion he needs more than a few seconds of laser blasting.

I didn't really enjoy Harbinger taunting me over and over (and over and over and...) again, but he would make a better Big Bad than Star-Jar. I would still prefer a more indifferent and unrelatable villain like Sovereign though... Harbinger was just far too focused on Shepard to be "infinitely [our] greater".

Overall he was written and presented very poorly. Nothing ever happened that commanded my respect or made him seem like a real threat. Most the time i didn't even pay attention to him. I remember the first time i finished ME2 and i thought to myself "wait... so who was the damn bad guy.. where was Saren 2.0? Oh.. that harbinger person that kept talking to me? LOL!"

but i digress, 100% improvement in ME3 imo.

You mean like killing you in the first five minutes of the game?
I'm going to go with this line of reasoning and ask what Sovereign did exactly that made him so much better. Apart from one really cool conversation where he gloats slightly less directly than Harbinger, he accomplishes virtually nothing.

Note: I love Sovvy, but just pointing something out.

I was really surprised Harbinger was so marginalised in ME3. And annoyed because he woulda made a MUCH better villian/boss than Kai "Gary Stu" Leng and I-Am-Inexpicably-Turning-Against-Humanity-TIM.

We had to run towards the big scary Sovereign in ME1. We even have to go under it. There was a sort of "personal" interaction with it. We even get to directly fight an avatar of it.

ME2+3's appearance of Harbinger is very impersonal.

ME2, Shepard sees it in a data pad. ME3, Shepard sees it in the distance and gets taken out like a sucka.

I would like something more personal with it. Sovereign set the bar rather high. I still think Harbinger has the opportunity to go further.

Heck. The dead Reaper in ME2 is more personal than the 2nd-in-command Villain (if Catalyst is the main villain), and that one was dead!

I would have loved to have more Harbinger in Mass Effect 3 though to be honest I would have liked to have just more Reaper interaction. If they had more conversations with other Reapers I would have been happy, though a showdown with Harbinger was/is necessary.

This too.  I wanted to see more Reapers with personalities.  The Rannoch Reaper was at least a step in the right direction.
