Do you play on the PC? Because if you play on the PC, finding an other target to charge isn't that difficult. It requires very impeccable timing to actually hit them at the exact moment before you were about to charge. Because if they kill em before your nova ends, you should have no problem finding an other target.
It takes more time to change targets with the 360 or PS3 because of the max sensitivity being lower. This would get ya killed. On the PC, it isn't as big of an issue.
Dear guys who hate Vanguards.

Being able to target with much more speed/precision allows you to pick and choose a new target much sooner if need be.
Right?
Thumbstick spin is sluggish in comparison, I know I wouldn't be able to do as well using them.

not really that big of a deal at least on the highest sensitivity and the fact that you only need the enemy highlighted to charge and you don't have to look directly at the enemy to highlight themastheoceansblue wrote...

thats how i play but obviously i'm not quite as fast at truning around since the highest sensitivity is sooooooooooo slow compared to other games but anything in front of you is pretty easy to target for chargingZenning wrote...

I've played it on the 360 and that's perfectly doable. You can lock in on a target before you actually move your crosshair over them, which makes it easy to switch between targets fast. There's no need to snap your mouse with perfect precision over your target like you're playing StarCraft. This game is very casual.Zenning wrote...

See that guy I hit through the smoke? I would of needed to point at him perfectly to hit em.
And that Centurian who was behind me at one point. Would of taken too long to target him without a mouse, and he would of probably got a shot or two off.. If it were further in the game, that could of killed me.

You are on Bronze
You are a Vanguard yourself.
And the other team mates are vanguards/sentinel/soldier and also CQC build.
Other then that I personnaly dont mind if there is 1 Vanguard my team. But when I see there are 2 in the lobby I usually just leave and find a diffrent match. When there is 1 who goes of being Rambo we can just choose to ignore him and let him be dead on the other end of the map. When there are two of those you already am at half a team and cant just simply ignore it.
Not saying Vanguards are bad cause there are good ones which I played with, and are beast when played correctly and a great addition to team. But most of them aren't teamplayers, and they kind of ruined the whole image for them.
But yeah tip for most vanguards:
- Stay with the group. You dont need to go to the enemy they will come to you.
- Cover the flank, there are many situation where enemies can simply swoop behind the back of the group and take them out, you as Vanguard can protect the group from this happening.
- Dont think at wave 3 "Ohnoes Im at the bottom of the scoring board, because Im hanging back with the group" when I play other classes that are CQC l usually am around the bottom till like wave 4/5 because the rest of the team eats trough the enemies so fast before they ever got close, but when the roudns progress more enemies come to the table. Also making groups bigger which are perfect for AoE attacks, which get you to the top of the scoring board easily.

not really you where mid nova and your nova staggered him thats plenty of time to turn around. it isn't THAT slow and as for the centurion in the smoke he was clearly visible and slightly stunned from your nova. PC gamers don't give enough credit to console players and their abilities at all.Zenning wrote...

And also, in regard to play style, no, I don't think the rest of the team should have to drop what they're doing just to cater to the Vanguard. Or anyone else for that matter. If what you'e currently doing is productive and helpful to the team, then keep doing it. No need to gimp yourself or your teammates to kiss someone else's ass.

class hate wreaks of utter failure and stupidity. I agree, Vanguards can be insanely annoying. But equally annoying is hating on a class. And the people in here trying to support the vanguard are not helping their case by dumping on, or putting the blame, on other classes.

No, but everyone should be considering the team build.
And as there are certain ways to get the best out of a nova-guard, it's beneficial to everyone to spec for it.
Whenever I put a team together with friends, we discus who wants to play what and if anyone has a strong preference for something a little niche or different, we try to build the team around it. It's worked out by giving us all a better understanding of synergy in ME3 MP, and has been really fun.
If myself or a friend pick VG as their flavour of the match, we all switch up to make the most of the VGs abilities. I would have thought this kind of potential would inspire diversity, not petty in-fights.
As I said before, pubs are mostly collections of people who just want to:
Top the board
Play the class they love the most
No one really cares about team building, and this is why most public Gold groups are frustrating places even without an inexperienced VG.

I love Power Recharge Nova so much. Half Blast feels like slow motion in comparison.
Edit: I use the opposite rhythm though - Charge, filler, Nova, Charge as opposed to Charge, Nova, filler, Charge. (Where "filler" is either a roll-dodge or weapons fire, depending on the situation.)

Sure does. I got an other video of me using half blast.. Sure I half blast the entire time.. But I manage to kill less people, and get a lower score in that 30 seconds, even though my MANGUARD had to spend some time running form target to target.
Edit: Here's the vid

Yes but instead of shooting the target that is flanking you, they kill the one your focusing on. I would bet that after they get overwhelmed by the horde the vanguard was holding off until they were killed they complain that vanguards get them killed. In fact the snipers often do what many people disparage vanguards for doing, like not reviving others, not supporting the group, stealing kills, etc.
BTW tvman099 "Snipey McHideinTheCornerLikeA****" is brilliant

I got told by 5 seperate adepts today i suck playing on gold because i only came 3rd place with 0 deaths and some dozen or more revives per match.
Them doing most of the dieing.
I scored low because they were spamming attacks without thinking trying to use armor combos on shielded foes and stasis on brutes and banshees.
So i saw setting up explosions and generally playing crowd control for the rest to kill because the other adepts was causing to much trouble and was going to wipe us.
So he kept bragging hes the better adept.
Does scoring higher then me make him the better adept with a dozen deaths?
Or does me using my character to make the others more effective make me better?
I spent most of the game setting things up for the engineer or the adept to take advantage of which meant i scored low they scored high but we won the match.
In the 1 match i played for myself i topped the chart by over 60000 points the adept managed to kill about 6 enemies and kept raging im stealing hes kills couse i was smart enough to use the right skill combo on the right enemy.
Onto vanguard topic.
I dislike vanguards to but if they have a mic ill give them a shot.
Get me a vanguard who will listen and work in a team and the pair of us will wreak havoc.
Take firebase white.
If i sit up on the top above the ladder and he contains hes charging to the area down infront of me its great.
Hes got cover and room to move and charge as he pleases but also its a large area so i can let rip around him without him being in the way , stasis enemies behind him , weaken armored foes , stagger bigger guys , explosion groups of weaker enemies for him to finish off with a nova.
He can still play how he wants just in a smaller area and im able to very effectively support him and cover hes back from enemies that may get a good shot at him without exposing myself given that an adept is very squishy that means we can both use our ability's to a very high degree without annoying each other.

On the rare occasion that one of my friends plays with one, I allow their score (and number of times I have to revive them) factor in to what I tell them at the end of the match.
