Thanks for the info, it is very helpful. I was a bit confused about which is better for some assault rifles (such as the Striker), but this sorted it out.

Wall of text, sorry didn't read. Can you have a summary as to which are better and for which difficulties?

If that... THAT is a wall of text to you. Then you seriously have a problem. There will be no TL;DR. It is sectioned off in easy to read chunks for people above a sixth grade reading level. (not that I'm saying you have a sixth grade reading level, it's just that my brother who reads at that level understood it perfectly.)

Glad to be of service.

Very nice, thanks!

I was wondering what they would do when combined.... Mwuahahahahah!

Once I finish off the shotgun section (oh joy!) I'll go back over and add that in.

Does this take into account the update these weapons got few days ago?

Yes, all damage stats are up to date.

I wanted to do that, but my grasp of mathematics is not high enough for me to have done so. Do I have your permission to use that post in the OP?

Of course.

€: Against Geth you could include headshots as well (just divide the Breaking Points by 2.5) and according to forum information AP does do extra damage against Atlas if you hit the canopy (+ 60% of the initial damage, always making it better than EB against Atlas only, if you are not using a weapon with built in penetration; using AP ammo should negate that bonus completely).

Thanks.

I might get into adding headshots at least for precision weapons - right now I'm cooking breakfast but I'll put that on my to do list.

Where does headshot damage bonus get applied in the equation? Do you multiply damage by 250% then reduce for armor or the other way around?

Yeah thats how I'd go about it. Multiply the per bullet damage by 250% then reduce by armor score. For shotguns I'd just multiply per pellet instead of whole unless you use marksman with em.

Fantastic breakdown. Looking forward to the shotguns...I have my suspicions about the viability of AP there, but haven't had the time or focus to really run the numbers.

It's interesting to see the data but for the majority of weapons it's more a decision between getting a damage bonus against everything versus only getting a damage bonus against yellow life bars. Versatility versus specialization.

Any weapon (on gold) that does less than 50 damage per shot generally benefits more from the armor penetration mod. Any weapon that gains more than 32.5 damage per shot from the barrel upgrade tends to benefit more from the barrel upgrade more. I use both on the vast majority of weapons though.

Yep, you bring up a perfectly valid point. I also try to run with both on the majority of my loadouts. I just figured there are a lot of people out there prefering one over the other (I was one of them) but not really getting the best performance overall.

This is a crazy amount of work. I'd always intended to run the numbers myself, but I never wanted to spend all the time on it. Thank you so much for posting. You get a gold star and a cookie.

My friends kept bugging me after I did a Marksman dps chart to do an armor value chart, I have nothing better to do on a wednesday.

Also, interesting fact - I was just eating a gold star shaped sugar cookie.

Suspicions confirmed! Barrel is definitely the way to go on the Claymore, flat out beating the shredder mod. I guess the upside for shredder is shooting through light cover and multiple enemies, but the damage drop isn't worth it, in my estimation. This is especially true as far your ability to one shot hunters, Pyros, and phantoms goes.

Thanks again--I'm bookmarking this one.

No problemo, happy to help.

As said earlier in this thread, any weapon above about 200 damage per bullet will benefit more from the Barrel than the AP in every way except piercing. But that is why I made this to begin with so people can make informed decisions on which way they should mod their guns.

Revenant [10.83rps] 79.5 dpb - Silver = 49.5 dpb Gold = 29.5 dpb
AP mod - Silver = 68dpb Gold = 61dpb
EB mod  99.375 dpb - Silver = 69.375 Gold = 49.375
Verdict - Ap mod wins again, 1.375 dpb is not worth it on silver and on gold -12 dpb is definitely not worth it

Revenant X + AP + EB.  "I love this rifle!"  Need it with me at all times. Players that play with me on a regular basis have seen what this thing can do. I feel sorry for them because none of them have unlocked it yet.

If I ever get it past rank I I might give it a try, as it is there are better options availible to me. But I have seen someone with rank X dominate in gold.

I've begun doing the calculations for both mods on every weapon. I'll probably post it after I get home from work tonight.

Thanks for the info. I saw your note on the Talon ( which I also really like ), and you said you might want EB + AP on it instead of the greater clip. Greater clip gives 7 shot per clip ( vs 4 per clip ) on the level one Talon - that is why I went with clip instead of EB.

The great thing is most of the time you roll with both. I never have to choose with the guns I use.

It's true, I usually use the Talon as a backup to my Hornet/tempest to deal with armored enemies or when I just need a sidearm upclose. But if I were to use it as a main weapon I would probably roll with EB and extended clips with an avenger for armor piercing.
