The way i saw it, Jacob was looking for a "Damsel in Distress", someone where he could be the STRONG MAN, the Saviour she has to rely on. He got that with the current group. With Shepard all he could do was wag his tail and follow her commands. (bad mental image, sorry)
If they have a life after the War, i can't see this ending up in a happily-ever-after for them. Brynn was too competent to always stay in Jacobs shadow. While running from Cerberus he could be THE MAN, afterwards, when rebuilding, he would end up in her Shadow.

Interesting take, it's definitely plausible, his main two love interests are intimidating, domineering women who have done their share of killing. Hooking up with a helpless scientist probably made him feel like a man.

I like her voice too, one of my favorite classes in SWTOR, and that's one of the reasons. Still like Jennifer Hale's better, but she's a close runner up. And she can have Jacob. I didn't really care for him in ME2. I might have liked him more if they'd given him a personality.

Also this. Straight Femshep got screwed for romance. Jacob knocks up someone else, Thane dies, Kaiden is fridged. Only one left is Garrus, and some girls don't like spikes.

Liara also waits three years. All the other members of the ME2 squad wait for Shepard. Hell, I know IRL couples that wait more than that. I sometimes find myself thinking that they REALLY should have made an effort to NOT make Jacob a jerk to FemSheps he romanced. When this isn't the case (e.g. you romanced Garrus or Thane or VS or SOMEONE), he actually doesn't do any scumbag things!
