I had to reset my character to reverse some of the choices I made so I was playing bronze to level up and I found myself playing with a lot of level 20's. Why would you do this? In bronze it takes 5-6 successful runs to earn a spectre pack and it is so easy it isn't even that fun.
Why do level 20's play bronze?

I played a Bronze with a level 20 last night. Id just unlocked the Justicar & wanted to see how she fared, and learn the tricks of her trade.

I never played my Vanguard, yet it was lvl20 from trash cards. I felt like i needed some practice before bothering people on silver and gold with him. Not that i ever made it that far - it is a retarded class! Anyone argueing that vanguards are not created to cater to kids (or people unhapy with their penis size) are either:

Gold = people I know well
Silver = when I'm bored and want to reduce my hairline
Bronze = cause I wanna chill, it's hot where Iam

This. bronze is fun to dip into sometimes for a change of pace or if you just need a quick few credits.

Some people, myself included, aren't particularly good players. I do just fine on bronze, but have problems on silver, and have never attempted gold. I find that it's less frustrating to spend the extra time completing successful bronze matches than failed silver matches.
Trust me, I'm sure you people who play on higher difficulties in random matches appreciate that some of us are aware we don't have the skills to play on anything beyond bronze.

Even though I mostly do silvers now I'll still drop down to bronze every so often just for a relaxing change of pace.

I usually play on gold, but occasionally I'll join a bronze/silver to test something out without having to min/max stuff for gold; like a strategy, a bug, a weapon, a build, a game mechanic, etc etc etc etc.

Bronze is a lot less frustrating. On Silver I tend to having to use consumables regularly and yet the matches end up failing. Not all of them, but a fair share.

It depends on the class I'm playing. The only reason lately I try gold is if I want some packs, so I farm some creds on FBW:G with one of my engineers. The other times I'm with my Vanguard on either Silver or Bronze, whatever I feel like at the time.
Last night I had a lot of fun with a couple of people in Bronze who were mostly same level as N7 rating, no more than double in any case. They were happy to get a couple of levels on easy street while I practically soloed it. And then for sh*ts n giggles switched to my QE to freeze everything for the new infiltrators. They had a blast while I only assisted.
TL;DR:
Some people are more about having fun than performing well. Bronze makes the perfect playground.

Damn, hairline issues from playing Silver? Those are some intense matches!
I just play bronze. I like fooling around as a pure melee Krogan Soldier, or a charge spamming Asari Vanguard, or just generally kick ass with Drell Adepts.
Cluster Grenades for life.

I mostly play on Bronze because I have a poor weapon/mod spread. While I could probably handle playing Silver a lot with the ones available to me (and I've had quite a few successful matches), there's plenty of times I'd like a Widow or Carnifex when playing Silver. And without those weapons/mods/weaponlevels, I'm definitely not gonna throw myself into Gold.
However, I do regularly promote characters, since I'm stuck in Bronze anyway.

For fun. I don't see the point in promoting my characters (other than to respec) but I still feel like playing an easy bronze game once in a while. Or to see if my connection will hold... I get a lot of disconnections =/ I really hate disconnection at wave 8 or > at silver. Also, I've wasted lots of medigel this way, playing silver spending medigel but not getting any credits because of disconnecting. So when I run low on medigel, I do a few bronze runs to get a some credits because I can finish them 90% of the time before disconnecting. Wish they would fix the problem already =/

1) I'm <15k credits short of a pack that I want, and none of my friends are online. I'd rather drop into a bronze game that I can easily solo if my team sucks, instead of gambling on a silver or gold pub group that might flame-out and make me start all over.
2) I feel like trying out a weird build or sub-optimal weapon/class combo. Often I'll just do this on silver, but again, only if I've got at least a couple of friends online. We've all carried each other through bad days, bad builds, or various mishaps. If I'm playing with pubs, I play by the golden rule; I wouldn't want to carry a scrub that decided post-buff to find out how viable, say, an SMG-only build would be, so I won't do that to someone else. I'll do it to my buddies though.
3) Because it's a game, and I can.
4) Sometimes, believe it or not, I enjoy playing with people who have no idea what they're doing. And it's not *always* to laugh at them (with the mic off, I'm a gentleman
). Odds are that they're not exactly super-hardcore-committed to getting better -- but if they are, I enjoy giving advice, or just helping them blow things up for a round and then leaving. I read a post a while back made by a vet who saw a level 1 in the lobby and decided to follow him around the whole match and soften things up for him to kill -- seemed like a fun idea, so I've done it a couple of times. Not every N7>500 is an elitist douche.
