I had to reset my character to reverse some of the choices I made so I was playing bronze to level up and I found myself playing with a lot of level 20's.  Why would you do this?  In bronze it takes 5-6 successful runs to earn a spectre pack and it is so easy it isn't even that fun.

Cause random people can't farm FB white which is where I would usually try new characters and weapons

Silver is the lowest I go when I want to play casually, bronze is a waste of time if you want credits.

Some people, myself included, aren't particularly good players. I do just fine on bronze, but have problems on silver, and have never attempted gold. I find that it's less frustrating to spend the extra time completing successful bronze matches than failed silver matches.

Trust me, I'm sure you people who play on higher difficulties in random matches appreciate that some of us are aware we don't have the skills to play on anything beyond bronze. :P

Silver doesn't require skill, just some experience.

I play bronze for three reasons:
1. I'm not that great at the game, and I haven't won a silver run in what feels like forever.
2. So I can test out my builds and see what works. For example, I just unlocked the justicar last night, you can be sure it would be a failure (due to my inexperience and lack of skill) to test on silver.
3. I'm a casual player that doesn't care about overall score as long as everyone in the group has fun.

Edit:  I should add that when I join a public bronze game and the players (this has happened several times) request that I pick a different character with a lower level, I will comply.

im playing some bronze with a friend of mine who just started playing MP, we usually go duo but sometimes we just create a public lobby and wait. ive the 4 classes i actually use up to lvl20 and several rare maxed, but ive never heard anyone complain about it

indeed, bronze is quite relaxing in a full lobby, no need to worry for anything, rarely anyone dies, and it is very very hard for anyone to not contribute, as most non boss enemies go down with a single spit

im getting him practiced so we can move to silver so he gets some good equipment, and then introduce him to gold lol, it is taking longer than i would have guessed though

Because Bronze is fun. Believe it or not some of us don't enjoy a difficulty where in order to even get anywhere you need to properly prepare by Min/Max-ing the class to death. If there is actually a list that covers 90% of the guns as "completely useless" on Gold then that means the difficulty is horribly unbalanced and just a grindfest rather than an actually enjoyable game mod.

And for those you that are about to say something along the lines of "doing it for the challenge" then I will respond with this: I would rather feel like a god instead of being frustrated for nearly 20 minutes before feeling accomplished at a win. Besides, I already got all that "challenge" out of my system going through Call of Duty 4 on Veteran, including the Mile High Club. To me doing something to "enjoy the challenge" is overrated.

I've gotten so many character packs that some characters I've never even played are level 20.

I usually do a few test runs on Bronze to learn the class.

I can't understand why so many people have trouble understanding this. If I'm having fun and helping everyone in the squad, then what should it matter which difficulty I play? I'm not a terrible player, but I'm also smart enough to know I'd be nothing but a liability on a Gold run. Yeah, Silver is easier but the truth of the matter is that I rarely find cooperative squads when I need them most. I usually play as Infilrators and Engineers, both somewhat squishy classes, and half the fun of using them are the myriad tech powers you get to toy with. I personally play Bronze as level 18, 19, and yes, even 20 characters because I love this damn game and enjoy, shall we say... toying with enemies sometimes? You don't get that luxury on the other difficulties. Yes, I know that's the point.

Case in point - I recently unlocked the Geth Infiltrator and have an absolute blast engaging Hunter Mode. Only problem is that it leaves my shields crippled and makes it harder to see as well. Now, you can tell me to compensate for this with well-executed point allocation, but it's still gonna make things a **** when I try to play an entire mission on Silver or Gold with Hunter Mode engaged.

Like I said, diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks. I love watching master players tear things up in Gold, but I don't game often enough to maximize my skills parallel to my profit.

A better question is: why do people that play gold think you have to play gold 100% of the time?

I've successfully gone through lots of gold matches. Doesn't mean I want to deal with that crap every single time I play. I play bronze because it's fun. I play silver because it's fun only when I have a few medigels. But I usually play bronze because for some reason this damned game never gives me any medigel.

I play bronze with a 20 cos sometimes I have a half hour to spare and with 20 min game time and 10 min of booting up and getting into a game it works perfect. Sometimes I play bronze for fun between silver matches. Gold is just ridiculous without a solid team.

Mostly though I paid my money for the game and I will play whatever I want...

Dat's pretty simple becoz they have a life while silver players are somewhat more nerds and Gold players have no life at all and sits and drools at their console/PC all day long !

i can only guess about others, but myself i do it alot since im a casual player
and i do it becouse i want to play a match or two just to get into the game.

mostly i play.. mabey 2 days a week about 3-5 hrs each (work gf and her child takes most other time)
and honestly i kinda need a match two to get back into the game lol

sometimes i do it when i unlocked a new weap i want to get a feel for without
ending upp beeing the one that makes the team fail.
and also i do it to try new a strategy if i just got that character up to 20 or respect it resently
or just want to try it with a new loadout.

otherwise im ussually on silver cus i know i can bear my own weight there.
gold i dont think im really good enough for atm.
mostly becouse i seem to end up with really bad teams
were everyone dies first 3 rounds and i cant save the round by myself

mabey i set the bar to high for myself but i want to be able to make a difference.

on a semi sidenote i ussually play as salarian or geth enginer,
i havent finnished deciding how i want to spec it yet
(is it wrong to be able to max all their abilities lol)

asari justicar i have but have only played on bronze silver
not comfortable with the character enough to try gold yet.

also something that i dont like when ive been att gold is 4 people
camping in the same corner or 5by5m area or everyone running of by themself.
i try and play the supportive role in silver or gold
(healing, taking down barriers and shields and crowdcontroll of the less dangerous enemies)

but with everyone in tha same frikkin corner we get overrun. or everyone so spread out
teamwork just gets lol'ed

did play a gold with the asari justicar once (by misstake OP changed it and i didnt see it)
2 geth character (dont remember whitch sort) and a krogan battle master.

put up my bubble for the 2 geth that sniped away, while taking down shields and
stoping the lesser troops from getting close while the krogan was doing
an awesome "hit and run" crowd control on our flank.
fastest gold round i ever been apart off

and noone died at all. no mics nothing. everyone just knew what to do
but almost everyone time, my support guy get killed cus im the last guy standing
and well im not good enough to sort that out :)

Because Bronze matches are easier / quicker to get into than silver or gold matches.

Because some nights I can't get a game outside of Bronze that isn't a lag fest.

Because sometimes I only have 15 minutes to kill.

Sometimes I play for fun and want to just have a shooting good time.

oh and to have fun or warm-up before going to a higher difficulty

I have to admit, I learn the new class and test skills on bronze. That I do at any level I unlock a new race.

Right now all my classes are level 20. I can either test them at level 20 or promote them and start from scratch every time. Honestly I don't see any reasson to promote them again unless I want to test a new spec and I don't have another skill reset ready to use.

I usually do Bronze with lvl 20's for warm ups (first time that day) and cool downs (after an intense Gold game). Or when I'm really frustrated at a public silver/gold game that went sideways, thanks to teammates who all decided to play with Bronze lvl "me first" mentality.

Or when I have a new weapon I need to try out. Few things are worse than going into a Silver Reaper game with an unfamiliar weapon - only to discover, as the Banshee is sucking your face off, that maybe it wasn't such a good idea.

Some people test weapons or builds in bronze, others don't have uber gear yet, so Silver probably seems pretty hard for them. Others just like a more leisurely experience. What does it matter, it's bronze?

I find that unless you actually know the people in your party, gold is nearly impossible because you always end up with at least one person who refuses to work as a team, which is imperative on gold. When you join silver, you run into a lot of rage-quitters who die because, once again, they decide to play lone wolf. In bronze, your teammates can do their own thing and usually it doesn't matter because it's so easy. Basically, when I'm annoyed with losing because of lone wolves or rage-quitters, I switch to bronze because at least there I will actually get to finish the mission.

I play bronze with PUGs because my mouse is a piece of crap, which means my aim is rather horrid most of the time. I'm not going to inflict this on those poor bastards. I'm not entirely sure how I manage to get the top of the score most of the time, though. I guess bronze PUGs are on average worse at the game than a half-blind woman with ADD, a crappy mouse, and crappy internet?

At least I keep my in-game voice chat completely turned off, because otherwise they'd get an endless running commentary on the entire match that mostly consists of swearing.
