I play on Bronze because I want to relax, have fun, am tired...etc. Silver is where I have a challenge, concentrate, pay attention. Gold I haven't tried yet and probably won't for awhile. I am not a great player and, like others have stated, I am sure Gold players are thankful that I realize that I kinda suck and don't ruin their games for them. I am slowly getting the gear, skill, and confidence to up my game, but in the meantime, Bronze is fun.
Why do level 20's play bronze?

I'm getting close to maximum levels on all professions, and I personally have no desire to promote characters (aside from resetting your skills, there's just no incentive for it), so no doubt I'll be playing bronze with some lvl 20s soon as well.
Sometimes it's cool for a change of pace or if you need just enough cash to afford a higher level pack.
On another note, I completed my first gold mission last night with my Geth Infiltrator and noone on the team was using mics. So there!

I play bronze with a dell vanguard to feel like a boss. Nothing like charging and doing flips in the air to a bunch of clueless Cerberus lackeys.

I cannot agree with this more. All it takes is one good screw up to completely turn the tide of a wave. I will admit though, that I have been having more luck with joining random games and the team seems to have a nice synergy going and *gasp* actually work toward the goal of the mission.
I've been finding the same thing to be true when playing Silver the last few days. However, I'm not sure it's luck. I don't have a mic and most of the randoms I play with don't have one either, but I think setting an example of what teamwork looks like early goes a long way towards getting a group to work together when things get hairy in later waves.
Revive your teammates, help them out when they get flanked, and soon they'll start following you to the defensible bit of the map at the start of each wave instead of running off to their own corner.

1. to practice with a new build (snipers generally aren't knowledgeable about how to play a melee krogan effectivly.
2. to play a "just for fun" build, maybe they want to play a melee geth infiltrator , but know it's not good enough for gold
3. warming up after a few days of not playing.
4. to increase morale after a losing streak, where you are playing bad due to frustration.
5. to top off that last little amount of creds for that pack that you are 1000 away from.
6. to avoid elitists yelling over their mic because you aren't using Their favorite build.
7. to practice with a new gun, I did this when I got my revnent (wow I spelt that wrong oh well , guess it's not hard to tell I didn't care for it.
8. Only time for a quick match before leaving for work, don't want to risk getting into a gold where nobody will stand on the freaking hack or you end up with one guy playing ring around the rosie for 15 min with the last baddie.
9. to play with a friend who is leveling a lower level/newly promoted class.
10. Don't have time to think of a number 10 as I gotta go, have fun

I test builds on Bronze and Silver. Of course everything works on Bronze, but I can get the idea anyway.

Sometime I just feel like playing a match where I can run around the level and just have fun, you can do that on silver if the team is good, but you can do it on bronze even if your team sucks

I test out new weapons in bronze and generally play multiplayer casually.

Test out weapons and massacre enemies for fun. Bronze is.like nothing compared to gold.

i only play bronze because i dont know anyone who plays this game. i have played a few silver matches, but the people i played those matches with were terrible. i ended up being the last person to survive each and every single "resistance is futile" silver match i was in - the rest of the team was dusted early, maybe 3-4 waves in. gold - i wont even mess with gold until i can get a team of people i know are good players and they all have mics. quite honestly, you'd be surprised how many people i've seen do the dumbest things and die in bronze - def not the people i want to take my chances to play gold with. i understand the better players gravitate towards gold because they know they can handle it, so i suppose the ratio of good players is better there. but my experiences with silver kinda killed it for me.

To have fun OP...I do silver most of the time, but I do like bronze matches. Bronze is almost a 99% chance to get +15K per match, silver you can get a silly team and spend 20+ min to die late and get 10k

I'm a casual player i play for fun also there's less chances of running into an elitist on bronze.

I use it to test out new characters/weapons, or for a quick run to grab that extra 10-15k credits for a pack.

To play like Cerberus, Geth Trooper, and Geth Hunter.
So satisfying when teammates shoot you over and over and over especially with Widows.

Because they're flat track bullies. Big fish, small pond syndrome.
Easy solution is start a quick charge Salarian Engineer and piranha away all their kills.
Or find a quiet spot and leech.

I had to reset my character to reverse some of the choices I made so I was playing bronze to level up and I found myself playing with a lot of level 20's. Why would you do this? In bronze it takes 5-6 successful runs to earn a spectre pack and it is so easy it isn't even that fun.
Because it's easy and fun. That's why.
Actually it also has to do with me not trusting random Gold lobbies when I have low levels of combat consumables like Medgels and Cobras... I seem to waste them on a mute effort in those random games so I choose to play Bronze and Silver until I can make a group of friends for Gold.

To test out new weapons and such without hindering others, to see if I like them, to see if they can work with what i'm doing without hindering anyone in silver/gold if it fails.
I also just like playing to relax after a hard day, or if i just wanna play for fun, kill some guys, blow stuff up, without the stress and tedious work of higher difficulties. I do this without worrying about the level of my character.
I'll also admit i'm not the best player and i'll play Silver sometimes, sure. I'm not ashamed to play lots of Bronze matches though even at level 20.

I play silver along friends, but often play bronze for pubs. Being a mediocre, casual player to start with - and playing on a pentium4 with 2 gb ram doesn't help, since it seems that the increased amount of enemies on silver actually can make a difference in how the game performs. The occasional slowdown/lag/not-exactly-crisp-framerate etc are much more noticeable in silver where it can easily make the difference between surviving and not, whereas bronze is much more forgiving.

Because it's easy to win bronze with a level 20 character, even if your teammates don't communicate or work as a team.
In silver or gold, it's MUCH more difficult, and I've only played a few games on Silver with a solid group of people who could actually handle it.

It is faster to make money without using the best mods. Because it can help the lower levels to safely xp their toons. Because it help to test different skills withoiut endangering your team. Because it ****** you off to see the leader just close the game at the tenth wave on a silver or gold party. Because it is funny. And just because.

I dislike playing a game and failing, and depending upon the team I sometimes fail silver and often fail gold. I'm not an awful player but I'm not a brilliant one either. I understand tactics and how to use builds but I'm not good enough to carry a team. I've done a few solo waves in silver and one on gold, with mixed results. The solo gold is my proudest moment but I've no doubt I wouldn't be able to do it again. Not for a while, anyway.
