Because i keep reading mixed info on that for the OC, with addons installed. (and Reerons feat fixes))

nwn2wiki states that Drow have Light Sensitivity giving them -2 on "skill checks", so getting rid of it is "extremely useful".

Same nwn2wiki also states that Drow have Light Blindness giving them -1 on "skill checks" and is only applied on the screen and not to the real checks.

Which one is correct? Also what exactly is it applied to anyway, i dont really see the need for skill checks on a caster who needs DC checks? Why do drow have Light spell if they are blinded by it?

I am slightly confused.

edit: oh wait, the above links points point to different races. However game starting description points out that
drow have light sensitivity(-2)   <- wiki says they have blindness(-1).

confusing.

edit: ok game in-game description states that drow have light blindness(-1).

I dont get it. What is it??

No, it's bugged. Only the penalty to skills is applied (the character sheet lies sometimes), and it's applied at both night and day. Not sure if the feat Daylight Adaptation does anything at all, but even if it does, it's pretty useless since the important penalties aren't applied anyway.

I've never heard about it working differently for different races, but I haven't tested all of them.

yes well from what i gather, blindness(-1) doesnt do anything. Sensitivity(-2) is always applied for everything. And this post states it is fixed with SoZ installed. Haeeee.

Taken from some googled nwn2 PW, i guess.

Broken Feats
Submitted by kmj2587 on Sat, 01/15/2011 - 00:39

The following feats are bugged or non-functional in NwN2 in general.
...

Light Blindness - This is improperly applied whenever a light blind character is outdoors, even during night time. The attack and saving throw penalty are only applied on the character sheet. They are not applied to the rolls in game. Characters are also affected in certain indoor areas.

Light Sensitivity - This is improperly applied whenever a light blind character is outdoors, even during night time. Characters are also affected in certain indoor areas.

I could live with either, but the question is what do the drow actually have? :D

Blindness. Only skills are affected. SoZ doesn't fix it.

I've always thought that it worked the same way for all races. I'll have to take a look at it.

Edit: Ran a quick test with a duergar. Light Sensitivity doesn't affect AB either.

Ok did some testing. Under same conditions a naked drow (well ok not that naked unfortunately, or fortunately. )

Medkit healed Khelgar for 19 real hitpoints w/o light adaptation
Medkit healed Khelgar for 20 real hitpoints w/ light adaptation
:)

Tried to grease Khelgar (x+4) vs DC 17 w/o light adaptation
Tried to grease Khelgar (x+4) vs DC 17 w/ light adaptation
:(

Got choke powedered by Neeshka for a save of (x+0) vs DC 15 w/o light adaptation
Got choke powedered by Neeshka for a save of (x+1) vs DC 15 w/ light adaptation
:)

Attacking Chest for (x+2) w/o light adaptation
Attacking Chest for (x+2) w/ light adaptation
:(

Conclusions.
In the OC with SoZ and patch 1.23 installed.

-Drow have the (-1) penalty feat
-Daylight Adaptation is working
-Penalty is applied on a quite a few occasions.

But it looks like it is only penalizing saves and skills indeed. Ignoring attack rolls and ignoring spell DC.

Spell DC has nothing to do with those feats, it's only AB, skills and saves.

I wasn't sure about the saves, good to know. That makes Daylight Adaptation a bit better, but AB is the most important part generally, and that's unaffected, so you won't miss the feat a lot if you don't have it (RP stuff apart).

It was my impression that the penalty was supposed to affect all rolls. Which kinda would make sense. At least at the same level as getting everything else reduced, for the better or worse. The thing is, it still does affect DC a little, specifically for my drow, since she's a bard, and her Perform is reduced. Sucks. Cause the girl absolutely doesnt have feat space left for adaptations or alike. She strives to be a great mage and these spell focus feats are expensive. ...
