Awesome. We should keep this thread going and post the final kill count.

I was planning on "Rogueing It" after i finish this campaign (just finished Landsmeet now, not sure how much longer i have to go) and make a rogue ;p

but that mean that you have to go for the main boss without killing his support mob on a very low level (less XP from not killing) sound like a real challenge. what difficulty? Hard?

well you have two allies that will make it easier a full rogue group. No other can come along because they will ruin your stealth. and dragging around a tail of enemies doesn't sound feasible.

dwarf commoner is by the way the best rogue origin.

I prefer the City Elf origin if you plan on being sneaky. The Dwarf Commoner origin is more thuggish in contrast to the City Elf origin which favours stealth.

i picked city elf from what i remember there less to fight and i can talk my way out of the last fight. plaing a dwarf i would just want to bash things i think

I've only done Dwarven Commoner, but as a Warrior...however if it's the same story with the Carta and all that jazz, then yea - you end up bashing a ton of stuff. The last "fight" before your join the Wardens is a pain in the butt with support mobs in there.

I plan on sneaking around, and not taking anyone as my party member unless absolutely necessary. And if it IS necessary, i'll just hit "H" to keep them rooted to the same darned spot and not help me (although if i die, i guess i could just always bring a mage to mass paralyze and then rez me, and we can run away to "reset" the mobs, which works).

I was thinking of doing it on Normal, as i think playing as a stealth rogue would be a pain when it comes to being rogue-ish...backstabbing and stuff...the first time you hit 'em, they face you so you can't backstab anymore :(

but then again...i've only been playing it on Normal with a full party so maybe it's a nice challenge.

Coup de grace = You can backstab people in the face if they are stun/para/frozen

Riposte & Dirty fighting = Short cooldown stun talents Rogues can get

yeah city elf probably give you less kills. beside you don't get the damn money. the guard takes them. imo city elf weddings is to predictable.

All I can say is that the dalish origin is hopeless for low kill count.

Kills: 2 wolves (must be killed the cutscene in second visit will otherwise trigger combat and you can't transfer Area in combat mode)

Kills: 2 giant spiders in the first room (must be killed the cutscene in the second visit will trigger a combat)

Kills: 2 skeletons before the mirror room, so the door unlocks not sure if you can avoid these by killing the wolves and spiders and perhaps levelup and pick the door. but you can't pick this door as a lv1 rogue. not sure if you can as lv2.

Kill: 1 The bear boss

Kill: 3 Hurlocks combat triggered by camp cutscene and there is no way to untrigger the combat.

Kill: 2 Hurlocks and 1 Emissary, you can't stealth past these because of the sunlight and the locked door can't be picked by a lv2 rogue. Total minimum kill count 13. Doesn't look good at all. that's what 50% of all enemies. i think there is 14 you sneak past. I would certainly not want to do this one on nightmare.

I predict that other origins will do alot better.

Human noble origin should be feasible with almost no kills. You might be forced to fight the few that open the door in the night, but aside from that I would think you could stealth your way to the treasury and your father and then there's no big final fight.

I'd love to do this - Although I'm afraid I can't stand the thought of not doing all sidequests/missing out on all that great companion chatter. Maybe one day, when I've played through all origins, romances and endings.. Which should be in about two years.

i got by by doing 10 on city elf so not much better, but ya nightmare is super hard and i don't blam any one for going down to hard or even normal setting doing this, the biggest problem is i have no skills,

Feign Death and Combat Stealth would probably help a lot but i'm still level 5 lol

Stens is level 6 so maybe this play i can make him with 2 Specializations, i normly just get 1 with him @ lv 14

as a tips im find traps help full but lure are a real let down maybe the higher levels ones will work better

well I went and tried The dwarven commoner. Total Kill Count: 7

Kills 1-3: the three arena fights

Kill 4: The guard outside the cell

Kill 5-7 Berht and his two thugs.

Done.

and it's alot easier since you got two stealthy rogues. No need for picking locks and only one trap which can easily be avoided. but in other hand without killing you might want the little XP you can get from these things. I would say that nightmare is a possibly for this one. persuade doesn't give any more benfit then more cash. so you can hold it and go for combat skills.

the tough thing with this challenge is to reach the level cap in the stealth tree so you can restealth. before that it will be extra kills just to beable to leave combat mode.

Best so far and i doubt human commoner will be better. there is several cutscenes in that one forcing combat on you. But I will see if i can get lower on the other tomorrow.

I wouldn't be surpriced if this is the best one. but i have never played dwarven noble so i have no idea how much combat it is in that one.

And this challenge is for veteran player not something you should be doing before you have completed the games atleast once.

map encounters will bug you aswell. not sure if you can do much with those. don't you need to kill all before leaving most of them?

have to be out of combat to exit the map so...probably would have to kill them.

you could cheat and reload on every move until you get the merchant :P

 this is very easy
just make your mage a healer and have your party kill everyone

it's the party death count we are talking about not your main characters. sure you could boost allies that isn't party members to kill for you. I doubt they count but in other hand they are usually weaklings and keeping them alive on higher difficulties would certainly be a pain. in the deep roads you can try to make the spiders kill the darkspawn.

I have a feeling that it still will end up in hundreds of kills before the game is finished.

atleast you will have use for your armies in the end to keep the death count down and the XP for improving them.

oh good job with 7, like Cid said the goal isnt not MC with low kill i mean it would be hard only in the fade would you have to worry about killing things, if that was it. but for the total kills to be as low as you can get it.
