If you presented one that wasn't purely supposition and doomsaying then I wouldn't ignore it.

Sorry i was basing my ending on science and how things work in the world. Im glad you are able to look at everything with rose color glasses and ignore all the bad. I personally can't do that ^^

If you look at the green ending with rose tinted glasses does that make it the brown ending? :innocent:

Also, think of the primitive worlds that have no idea what's going on.
Suddenly *green light* and poof! Everybody has glowing green eyes and is apparently half-synthetic.

Hell imagine the impact of such an event on Earth, *today*. There'd be conspiracy theories, riots, mass suicides...

I had that thought too. Maybe *today* we can atleast figure out what happend to us. But imagen the impact like 1000 years ago. Mass suicide all over the place.

You're basing a new frontier on old science. That's a fallacy.

For instance, your claim that "we take a long time to get used to disease" is undermined by the Quarians using a form of Synthesis to overcome that limitation in a fraction of the time. But I guess only seeing what you want to see is working well for you?

Viruses champ, they work differently, as organics they already evolve at a rate that can out pace our ability to combat.

Which it basically is! You create the "Pinnacle of Evolution" aka "Master Race" aka "What Hitler-Germany wanted all along".

I am german, and I am really fed up with synthesis because of that. Not only does it make no sense scientifically, it also is incredibly brown in a political sense.

So yeah in my understanding of the synthesis ending, the Catalyst is Space-Hitler while Harbinger is Space-Himmler...

Good thing we won't be organic anymore then.

So you're in favor of Synthesis! I knew you'd come around.

The implications of Synthesis unnerve me to no end, to be honest. The biologist in me dies a little when Starchild is all "A NEW DNA!!!!!", and you're rewriting all life, organic or otherwise, without its consent.

Yeah, this.

what if...

let's say the prothean were the reaper's strongest (or one of the strongest) opponent.. they fought bravely for centuries, they survive the cycle -Ilos scientist and Javik - they almost complete the crucible, they change the citadel signal, created a proto-mass relay etc.
they were bad asses for sure.

let's assume that they were so superior (compared to human-asari-salarian etc. and all the organics before them) because of their ability to transfer information through DNA, and in general all the "chemistry of life thing" Javik speaks about

if you choose synthesis, you change the chemistry of life forever.

so maybe the star brat is not helping organics. He's sabotaging evolution.
Ensuring the reapers supremacy forever :)

I wonder if the viruses count as life enough to be made synthetic too? it's not looking good.

Yup its a good thing that they are made partially synthetic and we can only imagine how much more powerful / faster they will evolve.....oops?

Oh yea and all those treatments / vaccinations that help prevent or stop them. Yea kiss those goodbye.

As a fellow biologist, I too find Synthesis both deeply unsettling and highly farsical (A NEW DNA!! FINAL EVOLUTION OF LIFE!!).

They won't evolve on their own, unless deliberately upgraded. Synthesis is the "final evolution" - the only thing to come after is manual modification.

A synthesized species can thus choose how to change themselves going forward.

While funny, it's not the same. We're not talking transplanted cybernetics, the green wave is functioning on a cellular level. And (from what we can surmise from what we have of the ending so far) the Synthesis doesn't appear to be degenerative, ie no BrundleFly transformation.

Sorry, no "Joker with a gun for a hand" action figure.

Why is Synthesis any ethically worse than Destroy or Control?

In Destroy you are committing genocide, and if you believe StarChild, are simply delaying the cycle from restarting. In Control you are essentially taking all the power in the galaxy to use yourself...one person now basically controls the entire galaxy.

The fact that Bioware even MIGHT consider Synthesis the "best" solution is outright sickening.

Beyond the fact that it makes the least sense of any of the nonsensical endings (a stunning feat in and of itself), it is so unethically gross and disgusting, to play God with the very core of all organic and synthetic life against their wishes and desires, that I honestly refuse to believe Bioware is THAT morally bankrupt.

It's a sickening, nauseating ending that goes entirely counter to the THEMES OF THE TRILOGY, that diversity is good, that cultures are special, that people can naturally outgrow racial prejudices and work together of their own volition. Synthesis bypasses all that and forces a genetic homogenization that either 1) destroys their free will and sense of identity or, 2) doesn't destroy their free will and sense of identity... which are the very causes of war in the first place... meaning Synthesis accomplishes absolutely nothing.

Either way, it's a heinous, revolting option and I'm baffled it even exists, let alone existing as the "best" solution.

TIM's control only works if Shepard is indoctrinated :) That's why he can control husks, and Cerberus soldiers. Shiala (and TIMs research) shows, that Reaper indoctrination is not exclusive to a particular controller. Shiala was indoctrinated by Sovereign who died, yet when the reapers come back she still hears her voices. TIM's reseach (as seen in Cerberus base video logs) allow him to make his "voice" be heard. Shepard causes the death of TIM, but there are still tons of reapers all around, therefore Shepard should still be indoctrinated. This means by the time of the Starchild meeting, Shepard IS indoctrinated.

You've only given me what you believe to be true, not actual proof. He was being controlled by TIM, but that doesn't mean everything after that was a dream sequence. Please give me proof. I desperately want to believe, but all the IT people have done is speculate based on presupposition.

I think it's more of a "The endings suck. Here's why for this specific part of it." type of thing.

Have you come up with a reason for him to bring you up in the elevator and then lie to you yet? Aside from "Oh, you're dreaming it all, don't worry!"

It's not new. Check Ieldra's Synthesis thread, or Siduri's epilogues.
It's only new to you because you're fixated on one possible (and highly unlikely, given what we know) outcome out of your own morbidity.
