Hello, I am fairly new to DA2 and am still working through my first playthrough as a Warrior. However, I plan on building a few Mages soon and was wondering. What are the best builds for Mages? I quite enjoy the Mage gameplay in DA2 and was hoping to get some ideas for decent builds.
Thanks to anyone who replies to this.

take a look through the guides in here: http://social.biowar...5/index/6880399
Arelex's Blood Mage is probably the most up to date and should be a pretty good place to start.
If you want a more glass cannon setup you can check out my crit-mage setup however it may be a little tough for a first mage playthrough (not so much if you aren't playing on nightmare)

I find guides to be hard to read through. My advice is to pump the Magic score as high as possible while getting enough will power for equipment. Unless you're a blood mage don't know what to do about that. I'd also get the robes of unblemished cleanliness as soon as possible.

How are they hard to read? Well, I suppose Arelex's might hurt your eyes with all those colours, but I would have thought most guides to be relatively well organised haha. There's example videos show casing certain setups, explanations as to what and why those setups are used, and tactics to copy so you don't have to learn how to program them yourself.. nothing too complicated I would have thought.
Anyhow, willpower is unnecessary if you pre-buff to meet the requirements (i.e. wear equipment with +willpower or +all attributes). For a blood mage you should have no points into willpower (channeling it more towards constitution) and for a non-blood mage ideally you should have as little as possible (so no willpower) and rely on rally or death syphon for your mana needs.
The robes of unblemished cleanliness are only obtainable in act 3 (and are quite expensive). They shouldn't be necessary if you have the dlc item packs, but otherwise I suppose saving up for them is a good option.

You dont need willpower to equip anything in the game. Several items throughout the game add enough willpower and allow you to "pre-buff" in order to wear any item you desire. If the concern is mana, any warrior can gain Rally and upgrade it to Unite in order to refil the groups stamina/mana very quickly.
So you cant read guides because they are hard to read and because of this you suggest people don't read them.
I think, maybe, you should stop giving advice.

There's nothing wrong with my advice at my level of play which a bit lower. It was a rather non-controversial advice.
If you can comprehend the guides and get out of it what I said then more power to you. I never said to not read the guides.

You can find the optimal build/party setup/playstyle if you check out Arelex's guides. This man is a GOD.
