Am I the only person who remembers Grunt describing Quarians as tough? Crispy, hard skinned? He says they're difficult to kill with a blade is what I'm getting at.

Just another thing about ME2 that was dismissed? File that one along with anderson was councilor?

The Quarians resemble Humans far more than the Asari:

Quarians are generally shorter and of slighter build than humans.
Quarians have an endoskeleton, lips, teeth, and two eyes with eyelids
and tear ducts; they also have three thick fingers on both hands which
include a thumb, an index finger, and a long finger, similar to the
middle fingers for humans, as well as three toes on each foot. Quarian
facial structure and hair actually makes them the most similar to humans
in physical appearance. Their lower legs are bowed backwards
significantly, compared to
asari
or humans. Aside from hands and legs, their general body shape and
sexual dimorphism is similar to humans. Their ears or ear analogues
differ in a noticeable fashion from those of humans, with references
made to "what [passes] for the quarian version of an ear".

Apologies to the hardcore xenophiles among Talimancers who wanted their Shep to bang a hentai tentacle monster. It's 'canon' that they look like us, except for the leg structure, ears, and Turian-esque feet and hands.

In any case, I like the look they picked for Tali. I just think the photoshopped picture could have been done a bit better, since fans have put forth 'cleaned up' versions of that pic that look far better. And a 3-D rendering of Tali's face in the portrait would have been awesome.

Ignroing your insultingly ignorant comments I will just say this.

With that vague description you just easily described Drell. That description was incredibly generic on purpose you silly billy.

This forum really needs an eye-roll smiley.

It's not that vague at all. The Quarians, amongst all of the humanoid races in the galaxy, most resemble Humans. They have all of the Human characteristics, including hair. It doesn't say anything about scales, tough skin, or any of the reptilian features that would pertain to the Drell. If they had such, it would stand out. And be worthy of mention. The description of the Drell:

Drell are omnivorous reptile-like humanoids with an average lifespan of
85 galactic standard years. Drell appearance is very similar to asari
and humans, but their muscle tissue is slightly denser, giving them a
wiry strength. Although many of their more reptilian features are
concealed, their hyoid bone, located in their throats, is particularly
developed. This allows them to inflate their throats and produce vocal
sounds outside of the human range. They also have two sets of eyelids,
akin to crocodiles. In addition, drell possess the ability to shed
tears.

A clear difference in the descriptions. The Drell have features that stand out and makes them unique compared to Humans. In the Quarian description, the major differences are mentioned. There is nothing "vague" about any of it.

And by the way, my little joke was directed at those still b*tching about Tali not being "alien enough", not Talimancers in general, despite the Codex firmly establishing that the Quarians are the most 'Human-like' among the galaxy's major races. Know before you go, amigo. ;)

Actually you proved my point. The codex entries purposely describe the drell in direct detail, while the description proveded in the book is a bare bones, generic description of a humanoid, that describes a drell, or an asari, or hell a human!

The description of the Quarians goes into no detail at all mate, which is what I was trying to tell you. Pulling up the description of the drell only proves how bare bones the description given for the quarians is.

As you say, "know before you go, bosh'tet."

I have to question their skills and instincts as artists after they failed to recognize that the moment when Tali took off her mask on Rannoch was THE PERFECT TIME to reveal her face. I was sitting there waiting for it, everything seemed to be building up to it, then she reaches up to take off her mask, and...nothing. It kind of ruined the moment, actually.

this. bioware if you are listening at all to your fans PATCH THIS. why you did not use this moment in the first place for talis reveal is incomprehensible to me FIX IT

After reading several of the comments in this thread I'm actually starting to feel bad about the fact that I really enjoyed the way Tali's face was revealed. Tali would have to be my favourie character throughout the Mass Effect series (I especially enjoyed her loyalty mission in ME2).

Is the main complaint here that the image was poor quality? All I can say is that wasn't what I thought when I saw the picture. I thought the image was fine quality wise and didn't detract at all from the moment. What would you have prefered it look like? The designs on her face were subtle but still enough to differentiate her from a human and the quaity of the photograph doesn't ruin that.

If you didn't know that the image was taken from a stock photo would you still be angry about it? My first impression was that the Tali image was beautiful. When I found out it was entirely taken from a photo of someone I was surprised but then realised that the face of the main charcter for the entire series is based on a real person as well as many others e.g. Samara and Miranda. If that's what they want Tali to look like then that's all there is to it. You can call them lazy if you like but it's exactly the same as calling them lazy for completely 'copying' the face of Commander Shepard. Why should they have to come up with a new face from scratch when they obviously found one they thought was good? (which it was).

I enjoyed that it was done with a picture instead of being in 3D. Some may have preferred to have seen her face actually mapped onto her body but there are a lot of things throughout the game that we may wish went a different way. But it is Bioware's story and they want to reveal Tali's face in a way that is still completely in line with Tali's character and the world in which they've built then there isn't any basis for you to tell them to change it (unlike the endings which were nonsensical and completely out of place). You may disagree with how it was done but you can't say Bioware doesn't care just because they did something that wasn't how you wanted it. It was done tastefully and made complete sense (unlike the endings).

I see some comments mentioning that the reveal should have been done on Rannoch. I admit when I was watching that scene I was hoping for the same thing. When it didn't happen I wasn't upset but became reserved to the fact that they would never reveal her face. For me they managed the build up to the reveal brilliantly by making me think you would never see it. That made it extra satisfying when she said there was a present waiting in Shepard's cabin and I believe it shows that they put a respectful amount of effort into showing Tali's face.

If they had just used a photo of tali's voice actress than it would have been easier, an awesome Easter egg for fans, and there would have been less complaints

Sometime it feels like they did more work to make a worse product

Yeah, if they didn't really want to reveal her face they should just leave it, but instead they went with another artistic nonsense and ruined the whole reveal.

What blows my mind is that they had the perfect opportunity for a modeled face reveal on Rannoch. She takes off her mask to breathe in the Rannoch air, and the camera zooms out from behind.

WHAT?

Zoom out from the front! It was the perfect setup!

I just finished my Talimance playthrough earlier today. All I can really say about it is that it's a huge missed opportunity. (Also, the way Shep looks at her picture, he looks kind of surprised, like he'd never seen her face before... hello, you saw it at the end of ME2!)

Im totally OK with photo, but im not ok with lack of effort they used to this. Atleast show her face as 3D model in extended dlc instead of Liara's

Yeah was just so damn perfect situation, make it like movie style like when Genophage is cured. Tali takes mask off and camera shows her face when she takes first breath Rannoch air!

I liked the photo, with the exception of the bad photoshop in the hand. What pisses me off is not have a moment ingame to speak to Tali looking at her face. The final stand on Rannoch, as everyone pretty much agree, would have been totally perfect to show Tali's face.

As for Casey and Mac, I wonder why they are all smiles and happiness when they should be sorry for ruining the franchise with bad decisions and rushed actions. Well, thinking better, they already have our money, so why wouldn't they be happy after all?

Yeah, it's like they're teasing us and then: 'oh you wanted to see her face? ok, here'sa quick shop of some googled photo'.

They kinda blew the reveal I think. The photoshopped picture was just lazy.

It was set up wonderfully for her to show her face on the homeworld after destroying the Reaper. She took her mask off and... we see the back of her head. Then a photoshopped image of some girl off the Internet appears in our room. Yeah, could have been handled better.

It's from "Final Hours", so we can't be sure when it was recorded.
