What if they actually wanted Tali to look like Chobot, but then when they'd done the face scan they went like "Ew, that looks totaly f**king deformed, we can't have Tali look like that", so they did the Photoshop pic instead.Mr. Big Pimpin wrote...
I think what they're really trying to say is "we thought putting a deformed version of Chobot's face into the game was more important".
Chobot might look quite good in real life, but I don't know how she turned out looking like... gnome Snooki.
On a more serious note, I said essentially this pretty much as soon as I joined this forum. I understand why you only got to see a pic of her, from a distance, from a bad camera angle with sub-optimal lighting. They just wanted us to understand that she wasn't super-alien looking. She doesen't resemble a turian or a salarian. They let us know that she's actually a, by human standards, good looking girl. But they still wanted to maintain a bit of mystique.
That being said, this is supposed to be the last game featuring Shepard and thus probably the game featuring his crew. No point in maintaining that mystique, they should give us a model of her face in some upcoming DLC.

So no one on the team noticed her mutilated hand!? What, did Dietz make up the entire committee or something?
This is my thinking, I don't really have a problem with the actual face. I would've liked an actual unique photo to be used, but that hand. It look's absolutly zero percent on what it looks like in game, not to mention theres a freaking third knuckle on it!!!
They're telling me they looked at it and said it's great! thats what she looks like.

Those guys are waaaay to high there, they should never have been involved in the process of decision making.
I think Peter Molyneux is high when he says half of what he does. It would explain the grandious dieas that he ends up falling short on. However, his intentions always seem sincere.
Casey, on the other hand, comes off as an egotistical douche every time he opens his mouth anymore. I've never once come across a stoner who thinks that highly of himself. Nor one that thinks "rocks fall, everyone dies" is a remotely good end to any story.

I think we can insert the standard "We didn't know the fans wanted it" spin to this. Even after well over a month since playing ME3, the more I think about it the more wasted opportunities I remember......sigh

However, the mystery was not preserved, because you showed her face.
I can appreciate showing her face in an unconventional, meaningul, and artistic way; even a photo.
I cannot reconcile this with a photoshopped stock image.

Sound like a PR spin. How could they think that people would be happy with stock image? They didn't even drew this photo themselves, just Photoshoped it. Talk about art and integrity. I really hope hideous looking Allers model in game wasn't one of the reasons they didn't do a proper job on Tali's model. And besides, they had like five years to develop Tali's face, and not just slap some edited photo in what would seem was one day, maximum.
They also had a ton of concept art.
All went into the trash when Hudson/Walters saw this stock photo of a generic looking woman and thought "That's definitely Tali!"

I know, right? It's almost like they shouldn't have gone with a stock image at all, or gave its modification to a three-man graphics team with a $5 budget.Devil Mingy wrote...

But what is the point of having hair if you're a quarian? You'll never see it. Neither will anyone else. You'll rarely brush it. It will only stay in your helmet getting matted and tangled.
Do you have any idea how much work it would take to remove the hair from that photo? It's way beyond that department's image editing skills.

That might aswell have just paid Liz Sroka a little more and used her face then. They cant put her in the game but can Chobot?

No, THIS face matches the voice.

On topic, I really can't believe how out of touch Casey and Max appear in that video. :/

That's something I've really noticed about most of the ME3 issues...I used to think highly of Casey but he's either really changed or just gave up listening to his fans/customers to pursue...what exactly?

Nah. They probably have some cleaning protocol thing in their suits w/ Pantene.
Yeah, I agree about the hair.
I like this fanart, which does give Tali some hair, but it looks fairly wispy and maybe a bit matted.
I have hair as long as the model they used for Tali and it is a pain in the ass to deal with when I'm just wearing it naturally. I can't imagine how obnoxious it would be if I had to keep it inside a helmet 24/7. Makes my scalp hurt just thinking about it.
300 years isn't long enough for hair to dissapear due to evoltuion, it's like 10 generations; they might shave their heads but they've spent the vast majority of their evolutionary history without helmets on so there's no reason to assume "there's no reason for them to have hair".
There's no reason for human eyes to be structured the way they are, or for the recurrent laryngeal nerve, etc, etc. they're all evolutionary hold overs.
Just that if they did have hair, it would probably have become their custom to cut it very short or shave it off. Because why would they keep it that long when it would only be a nuisance?

They said outright they didn't want to render her face in-game. Besides, if they were ONLY going to show us a picture of her face, why not? This isn't the first time Bioware has used stock photos for their games before. And really, I think people are overstating how "bad" they think it is.
I think it's perfectly fine. It's pretty much what I figured she'd look like. Pretty, long hair, skin a bit on the darker side, etc, etc.
