The person accidentally banned was Reptilian Rob.

Reptilian Rob explained that the banning was a mistake by a moderator and not because of any comment he made about Mass Effect 3 in his post here.

In the quoted article on page 2 of the comments Reptilian Rob even explained as much to the people who posted the article, who at no time reached out to BioWare to confirm details of the story, but they have not yet changed the article.

People ARE NOT banned from the BSN because they dislike some or all of Mass Effect 3 or are "protesting". People do continue to be banned if they break the site rules enough to warrant a ban, but this has nothing to do with Mass Effect 3 specifically.

Chris,

If you don't mind my asking, how does one know where they are in the "banning" spectrum? Is there some sort of sliding scale? Is there a record we can consult that lists threads locked, temporary suspensions, etc. that lets us know?

I tend to be very critical and though I try and be reasonably polite and not violate any site rules in my criticism, I'll admit I ocassionally will make an intemperate remark.

How does one keep tracks of where they are on the naughty/nice (or if you prefer paragon/renegade) scale?

if all who "hold the line" was banned this forum would become a void

I've said on multiple occasions that I hated not only ME3's ending but the whole game in general and how I hated DA2. And I have never been banned once, So...

But I have seen people banned for ****-talking EA.

I am a critic as well. I have never been banned for what I believed to be true. It was more the way I said it. And looking back they were right. No matter what I think, no one deserves insults. However, the company as a whole is getting a negative imagine. That has nothing to do with the critics. BW is promising things that never materialize. They even use that in ad campaigns and PR. That is worrisome to say the least.

I think the mods are using the thread lock to avoid this. Though the way the locked threads are piling up they very well might bury us all here on the forum lol.

This is off topic but honestly I've found Bioware is locking threads down rather aggressively and I've decided not to create new threads simply add to trending topics.

C'mon folks, if BioWare was banning the people that didn't agree with them, then this entire forum would be empty and sent to Monkey Island.

I knew that they were going to make an announcement "soon", but I wasn't aware that it was this thursday. Do you have a link of the date?

I don't know what's going on over there, but somebody needs to get their PR department in check. The bad press just doesn't stop.

There's a third reason you forgot: Random people on the internet do not always tell the truth, especially when it would make them look bad and they can put the blame on someone else.

Of these THREE options, OP, which is clearly the most logical one?

That's right. The third one.

this and plus spamming the boards non stop has become annoying

im glad alot of them are gone because now the bsn can go back to being the bsn

I believe it.

I was IP banned for a day for bashing EA. Unless companies are considered people on these forums, criticizing companies shouldn't get one a ban. That being said, it is their house. They have a right to set their own rules, even if those rules make them incredibly lame.

Doesn't matter much, it seems.

The PR department is in shambles and too many 'incidents' pile up over a short period.
The press is starting to smell blood, and it always get ugly when that happens.

I didn't read the whole article b/c the more I read the more I realized it was pathetic.

1) Lots of Retakers and the like complain about the same things in and make new threads about those same things and can be considerred trolls for doing so.

2) They seemed to be 24 hour ban.......OH NOES...I can't complain on the forums for 24 hours....I have nothing to do nowz!!!

Why wouldn't calling for economic damages against bioware, trolling other posters, and overly-aggressive flame waring be grounds for banning.

Reptilian rob was banned by mistake, a lot of the others banned are probably a lot worse than the ones left here.

Also, as for threads being locked down, I again ask, why is it that calling for the economic failure and monetary damaging of the company who is leasing this sites use to you not be grounds for banning?

I don't expect when I walk into a walmart, buy a bunch of their clothes, and than start yelling over their loudspeaker about how only a few items in the store are cheaper and that we need to boycott walmarts until they change this, that I'm not going to be kicked out of the store, or at least have my megaphone taken away and being forbidden from using the loudspeakers again.

In this instance, bioware is the landlord, and the fans are the tennants, and you can't bad mouth the landlord and put up flyers about how much he sucks and how much his properties suck without facing some sort of penalties, that's just how life works.

So this is supposed to make Bioware look bad apparently, I am aware of the angle, but I just can't see it. The posters broke the rules. They treated the staff and other posters maliciously and presented it as "constructive criticism."

As Chris said. I don't love the ending either, as I've said before. I would most certainly not still be around if I were being asked to do something like that.

I'm/We aren't.

Lets not go crazy here. I have voiced my opinions (often quite negative) on all ME games and not even received a warning.
BW is not an oppressive dictatorship.
Stay reasonable and it'll be fine.

How many times can someone get banned? I got multiple warnings last year and i think maybe a ban.

Do mods have a little list on how many times a specific user has been warned or banned? Or do the mods just need to remember if that user got w warning in the past?
