One thing that personally bothered me about DA2 was how static the classes were, and how set your choice of weapons were. The rogue class in particular stands out to me. In DA:O, you could have a rogue class that wielded knives, axes, swords, and bows. It was a really versitile class, which made up for the fact that it wasn't necesarily a 'combat' centric class.
In DA2, the rogues could still wield bows and dual-wield daggers, but the options to have 'heavier' weapons like swords and axes was gone. I'm probably not doing a good job of articulating it, but what I'd like to see is a return to this system (or something similar) in DA3. I'd like to be able to be a sword wielding rogue, or be a dual-wielding warrior. It adds variety in my opinion.
Thoughts? Opinions?

DA3 needs more weapon variety. rapiers, cutless, scythes for Rogues. Battle axes, maces and short swords for warriors. I guess different varieties of staves for Mages.

In DA2 my rogue ended up duel wielding some really weird and ugly knifes. They looked quite dumb and unpractical, but they where the best I could get.
Variety and choice. Sounds good.

I agree. Warriors and rogues need to be able to dual wield swords. I mean the rogue should at least have the option and if the rogue is to be the more "silent" type class still then I don't see why a warrior shouldn't be able to dual wield since it's a rather warrior orientated skill.
To make the system have more depth, Bioware could simply make it where dual wielding requires dexterity which means a warrior trying to learn how to dual wield will need to invest into dexterity. This will at least provide some more diversity within the class.
In DA2, I think the diversity within was this:
Warrior = 2 handed. Sword and shield.
Rouge = Daggers. Bow.
Mage = Healer. Offensive.
Then you had the specializations but it'll be nice if they allow all classes to use any melee weapon again if they have the statistics. My mage in DA:O was an arcane warrior who used a two handed sword...

I want Whips and Dagger Tails (like Dark Prince from Two Thrones).
NWN: Hordes of Underdark had so much different weapons, they should do the same for next DA game.

I wouldn't mind if they made it so you had to unlock a passive talent to use "the heavier" weapons for rogues, but yeah, more weapons options in general would be really great.
If they want to make the core classes more distinctive, I think it would be better to just give us different weapon trees. For example, you add a weapon school for rogues who choose to ONLY use a single onehanded sword.

Only if you got direct control over your character and your attacks somehow are affected by the weapon type. If it's just another RTS/RPG hybrid like Origins, I don't think it matters what weapon you use.

My Warrior wants to use at least a Short Bow again! Dual wielding and a Double Sword would be nice too.

All weapons should be available to all classes (as long as you have the required stats). Activated skills would be weapon specific, so a mage could have the dual wielding moves, for example. However, the sustained & passive abilities stay class specific; so although the dual wielding mage does have access to the same skills as the rogue, say; the rogue gets bonuses & enhancements to these.
(I don't know if I've explained that very well, but hopefully it's understandable...)

YES.
In DA:O I dumped loads of points into my rogue's strength and dexterity so I could dual-wield swords. That was effing excellent. I never used axes much (there always seemed to be a better sword around), but I agree that the versatility in DA2 was missing - daggers or bows. That's it. Did get old after a while..oh, there's a bow, that goes to Sebastian. Oh, an axe, that'll be for Fenris. A sword..you see where I'm going with this.
I liked having a dual-wielding warrior, or a warrior who could have both sword and shield and two-handed specializations. When I realized you couldn't do that in DA2, I was actually surprised. Definitely want to see Bioware bring all weapons back for all classes (stats permitting, of course).
