To be honest if I play with my Mass Effect 3 buddies I expect us to do great with some epic teamwork. We talk, laugh, dream about finding the asari homeword, compare the  pros and contras of Quarian and Asari..."backs" and simply have a good time.

However what really puts me in a good mood are random games with random people where great teamwork is shown.

- An AA running the whole time beside me GI Sniper and stasing everything in front of me
- An AA that detonates all my reaves
- Dead teammates that watch me try to clutch wave 10, suddenly turn on their mics and give me callouts as well as encouragement throughout the whole wave. Priceless feeling.
- A teammate using a missile on wave 3, on two geth hunters just to be able to get to me and revive me
- Geth turret places right at the side of me eventhough teammates goes another way.

You should send me a message the next time the Drunk Turian comes out to play, Dragon. I want to experience the awesomeness. Lol.

With the Extended Cut finished I'm not sure where I stand regarding Mass Effect now. Part of me want to shelf the game and put the whole thing behind me, including multiplayer, but another part of me wants to continue.
Decisions, decisions.

Flip a coin .. that way if you realize in future that you made a bad decision .. you can always blame the coin

Some great stories in this thread! I'll see if I can locate my forum-stamina potion and contribute with a story of my own at some point :-) but for now, I just want to say that you're all awesome, especially DragonRacer with such an inspiring attitude to helping and assisting fellow human strangers. Or turian strangers. Well, you know what I mean! It's a shame you're apparently on PS3; you sound like you'd be awesome joining up with :-)

Your bulleted points gives me the impression that your teammates MO was to protect you rather than kill enemies ;)

Party-definately, yes.
Though sometimes make the killing easier for me.

Most of the time it simply turns out that they make the enemies ready for me to kill them easily.
The Stasis AA guy was one of the best support players I've seen up to this date.
Using equipment when had to, always taking care that we weren't flanked by Phantoms and mostly he didn't even try to detonate his stasis bubbles. Stasis, headhsot, stasis, headshot.
He also actually dies quite some times but due to the fact that he was always close reviving was rather easily.

But in general those "guard"/defense teamwork playstyles are so rare that everytime I see somebody use them I get a blast.
You see the whole time people "helping" others with big time firepower to decimates enemies quickly, mostly since this brings points. However seeing guys actively helping you to surive is a rarity since the player doing so doesn't get any noticeable benefit from it in the form of points for example. Having such a player on the team feels always great.

two more "good feeling stories" from playing with my usual crew

- All Vorcha soldier armor flamer build playing on gold against reapers on gold, doing Vorcha voices over the mic and dropping banshees literally in 4-5 seconds. Using NO missiles we needed 17 minutes to get it done which was just superb.

- All Krogan melee builds, surrounding the last living geth prime and headbutting the crap out of him/it. Do this and you'll ****** your pants or start to brush your teeth with your nipples.
- AJ + 3 GEs. AJ bubble maxed out for defense, Geth turret maxed out for health. Use all 3 turrets nearby, stay in the bubble, take atlas rockets to your face and still have full shields...You feel like a synthetic Chuck Norris with a soul.

Yeah, been a console gamer all my life... it's just what I'm used to. I have done some games in the past on PC, and it's just not for me. Looks like you have a PS3 profile, though... but I take it your main account is PC Master Race, eh?

As of late, my favorite char and almost the only one i play with is the "Double Bubble" Asari justicar - I'm rarely the top scorer with this class but i'm having a great time playing as support: shielding hackers and pizza boys (i will run ahead of the pizza boy so he has a fresh bubble to walk in to all the way back) and of course group hacks. I love setting bubbles in chokes for the team to explode everything that goes through it and of course AoE reave is awesome.
This game is SO MUCH MORE FUN when you play as a team it's unbelievable to me why some people want to just run alone and get their kills (I respect them and all, i just don't get it).
What puts me in a good mood is to have some positive feedback to my co-op attempts, i.e. people that actually take advantage from my shield, people that wait for me to set up the bubble or cast Reave before they spam throw just so they can get the BE.
So like the OP said, to all those who like playing as a team *fistbump*

Edit: anyone looking for a team player is welcome to add me (PC) - eran5005.

When I'm in a public match, nothing of the sort ever really happens, noone cooperates that much... or we all rush to the same objective and all try and finish it. However, when I am in a match with friends, depending on my class, I help out in different ways. If I'm a geth engineer, I throw my turret at by buddies, which has the ultra fast shield boost ability. If I am anything else, I act as a distraction.

Well, this slightly inebriated Turian Sentinel has no tales of her own glory tonight, but would rather give praise and fistbumps to the most stalwart and ballsy N7 1 Level 1 Female Human Soldier I have ever encountered. Just finished a silver PUG before dinner. I was the last one to enter the lobby and saw one Ex-Cerberus Vanguard of decent N7 size, one fellow who was not there long enough for me to get a good glance at... and one N7 1 Level 1 Human Female Soldier. The brand new baby and the Vanguard were ready to go. In a silver unknown/unknown game. I almost knew what had happened. The game defaults to "any difficulty" your first time in, so she probably got dumped there unawares. I know this because that was my very first MP game... a silver at White with Cerberus and I failed miserably. Like, Wave 3 wipe miserably.

The fellow I didn't get a good look at had a mic and berated the N7 1 for being in a silver room and promptly left (wussy). I was the only other mic, and said we didn't need his whiny butt anyway. We gained a (mic-less) additional Ex-Cerberus Vanguard. I was good with that. Put on some extra equipment since I forsaw carrying in our future, took another sip of my Jack Daniels & Coke, and declared that my body was ready, let's do this! New vanguard readied up and away we went...

... to Giant/Reapers. Oh, I apologized to the N7 1 for getting Reapers on silver for her first MP game ever. And then said we'd kick butt anyway and I had her back covered.

Dude, she held her own and BROUGHT IT. An N7 1 Level 1 soldier rocking an Avenger II (I assume that upgrade came from the starter pack LOL). In all 10 waves, she only ever had to be rezzed twice. She did have to sit out two waves, but only at the tail end of both. Did nothing stupid. Only thing questionable was trying to melee punch a banshee that just killed one of the vanguards (not insta-kill) and she was right next to it (her heart was in the right place, though!). I quickly told her that wasn't a great idea (and why) and she rolled away promptly. But she held her own, dammit. We took down the big guns while she kept the husks and cannibals off our backs. I called out over the mic what the objectives were and she hopped to it for both hacks (pizza delivery on Wave 10 was pandemonium, but I opted to carry the packages while they distracted the enemy).

And we made it all the way to a partial extraction (one vanguard got brute-squished in the LZ at the last minute, unfortunately). And it wasn't even that hard. There was no carrying involved (yeah, she scored lowest by a lot, but none of us had to "babysit" her through the match, so I define that as a non-carry in my book). That little rookie pulled her weight and then some. Told her over the mic that she'd just held her own against the toughest enemy on medium difficulty first time right out the gate... literally quoted Anderson with a "You did good, child, you did good. I'm proud of you."

Back in lobby, told her to keep doing what she was doing and rock on with her bad self. Then excused myself for dinner. Image IPB

*major fistbumps* for that awesome new addition to MP. She's gonna be a gooood one based on that rookie performance!

I had an annoying game last night. I was playing host to a silver match. I had two N7 500+ join and a N7 100+ with a mic - breathing heavily. And while we did extract fully, I've had to watch N7 100+ with a mic carefully, because he died frequently. And when he did, he would curse profusely. But this dictacted how I felt in the next few waves. And even if I did top the scoreboard, I was only anxious to leave my hosted game afterwards and just host another one.

Right now, this "topic" puts me in a good mood. Knowing that there are good players out there and I'm not just talking about their skillset.

Until we get a "Let's do this!" or "You rock!" animation, head-butting is pretty much my reply to every wave that was completed without incident.

Had a great game yesterday with my lvl 20 SI (N7 ~560) carrying his trusty Valiant I. Searched for a U/U/S lobby, as I had too many frustrating gold wipes in the last week, and landed in one with a HE, a HSo, both N7~100, and another SI, lvl 16 N7 +3000, carrying a Krysae. I knew this was going to turn into a duel between us, or rather our weapons, so I thought
challange accepted
and hit ready.

We ended up on Giant vs Geth and the other SI immediately ran to the sniper position in the control room, and I just knew that I would be no match for him there. He'd just go splosh splosh splosh on everything that moves before I have the time to line up more than one shot, so I stayed behind at the LZ. That is actually a great sniping position, because you can see through the area with the rubble and shoot the enemies right as they come out of that bunker, before the sniper in the control room can even see them.

The first rounds were easy, 1234 objective in round three and we practically raced each other to get to them first. Only the last one was left as the two others who had stayed up in the control room were suddenly starting to get overrun. They tried to rez each other, but soon were both down, so I changed directions and headed there instead, knowing that the other SI would finish the objective. We cleared the room and the next rounds I stayed mostly with the team, sniping and checking flanks.

I have to admit that I felt kind of sorry for the the humans in the group as they barely had anything to shoot left, the other SI and I cleared everything, always toe to toe on the score board, sometimes I was on top, sometimes he.

But then in one of the later rounds we were starting to get overrun again. I think it was the 1234 objectives again, but I'm not really sure anymore. The group was scattered, the other SI on the far side of the map in the bunker, the two humans somewhere in or around the control room and they got downed and executed before I could help them. Then the SI went down, too, and I saw our chances for success shrinking. So I ran for it, past Primes and Pyros and I made it. I rezzed him and suddenly I hear him activating his mic and actually say Thank you.

Until then nobody had said a word during the match and I don't have a mic myself, so I couldn't reply, but that was really great. The entire game had, for me at least, felt more like we were fighting each other than the enemies, seeing who would do better with his respective gun, but in that moment we were two team mates who put the rivalry aside, at least for the moment, to pull through and... well, save the day.

Together we finished off the remaining Geth and made it to full extraction with the team. We actually played the same setting again, though one of the humans left, probably because he wanted to have something to kill for himself. ;)

And for the record, I admit that the other SI won both of our little duels, the first by 4k the second by 2k, but I had more revives and assists than him.

don't know why it took me so long - but i JUST started using the meatshield tactic a couple weeks ago - one of those face palm 'why didn't i think about this sooner' things.

Might be because of the giggle worthy levels of awesome you get when combining either stronghold/shielf boost w/ cyclonic 4 on a sentinel w/ tech armor spec'ed for defense.

All right, I'll add something that put me in a good mood (other than the other day, saving a vorcha from a phantom's insta-kill by running up and staggering her through detonating my tech armor Image IPB ).

Joined a random silver PUG to play 4-5 matches before dinner. Played two games with the same room before one of the guys turned his mic on and asked if I was the same DragonRacer from the BSN forums. Said I was, the one and only. LOL Turns out he's a lurker and not a poster, but it was still cool as heck to get recognized in a random PUG, and we proceeded to discuss the different Turian Sentinel builds, pros and cons of various weapons, random forum stuff, balance changes, etc.

I feel like a little celebrity now. LOL

Level up really fast, Creepter, and join the madness! Mwa-hahaha!!! Image IPB

I will bump this most awesome of threads with a new tale of wonder and glory. I am riding a successful Reapers Gold high and nothing's gonna stop me now! Hey-oooooooooo!!!! Image IPB

So, great day overall anyway due to the boss taking me out for a free sushi lunch and then letting me start my weekend two hours early (w00t!). I come home, change, grab a beer, and figure I'll try to knock the squad challenge out early so I can spend the majority of the weekend pulling Bronze Reaper games to full extraction to meet the community goal. I had a friend (with other good Gold friends) who'd be on soon to help me with the challenge. I wanted this safety net because I am a regular Silver player who has occasionally dabbled in Cerberus and Geth Gold, but never Reaper Gold. And usually find Gold more stressful than it's worth, for my liking.

Knowing he'd be on shortly, I went ahead and searched Reaper Gold games just to see what I'd find. Honestly figured I'd end up lobby hopping until he signed online. Ended up in my first room and was greeted by lots of German. Then, I heard my name addressed in amongst the German tongue and I apologized and said I only understood English. They switched to English and we started talking about the weekend operation and debating what ammo type might be best to use, etc. And I discovered another fellow female gamer with a mic, which is always a pleasant surprise for me. Their characters, equipment, and loadouts looked great, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Had my Ol' Faithful Turian Sentinel, slapped on a Stronghold II gear, some Assault Rifle III Amp, some Ammo-Piercing III, and Adrenaline III equipment. Readied up. With me was an Asari Adept, a Vorcha Sentinel, and a Human Male Sentinel.

Ended up at Jade. It was managable, but felt like a small nightmare with all the freakin' banshees running around. Everywhere. Just every corner you turn. Banshee. I went in mentally thinking I'd be leaning on these teammates because they looked very experienced on paper. And then on Wave 4 or 5 I hear the Asari say this was her first Gold game ever. And I checked the scoreboard and saw I was in the lead. And my heart dropped, because in my mind I felt if I was leading a Gold game, something was horribly wrong. Because I don't feel like that great a player... on Silver, maybe, but not Gold.

But honestly, for that being her first introduction to Gold (poor thing!), and Reapers no less, she did outstanding. When the group started to get overwhelmed and split up, I glued myself to her and said, "Let's do this: I cast Warp, then you cast Throw, and let's just explode everything as quickly as possible." Which we proceeded to do, and it worked very well. But the team just kept letting ourselves get separated too much by the banshees, which literally herded us around the map. Wave 10. The last of all our remaining missiles are used. Asari and Vorcha go down for the count. Me and fellow sentinel are left, both with no missiles or medigel. We manage to whittle the enemy down to just two banshees. And we screw it up. He went down after a banshee reave ball. I stupidly thought I had enough time to revive him. Got myself insta-killed. And he eventually couldn't finish off the two banshees and died. Right there. Two banshees away from the extraction round.

I could have cried, really.

Agreed we should go again. After the revelation that at least two of us weren't very Gold-experienced, yet made it past the Wave 10 objective, we figured we could do this. Just needed to conserve supplies better. Instead of adrenaline, I slapped on a Cyclonic Modulator III on top of the Stronghold II and my Tech Armor. Let's just get ridiculous with the walking tank stuff. LOL Also switched to cryo rounds to try and freeze the smaller guys. The other sentinel left and was replaced by an Ex-Cerberus Adept. I could have cried again, but with tears of joy. There is not much I love more in life than casting Warp on a brute or banshee just before a Smash. About the only thing just as good is doing the same on a target a Justicar has reaved or set a warp bubble on. Our Asari switched to her Geth Engineer, which she felt more comfortable with.

Next map we got was White. We largely camped the upstairs just across from the landing pad. And it was glorious. The adept was really, really great at getting in close to Smash/Biotic Explode my Warped enemies without getting insta-killed. The Geth's healing turret was enormously helpful. The Vorcha was a perfect flank-watcher, getting his needed bloodlust-feeding kills while we didn't have to worry about our backs. None of us had to use any rockets until Wave 9. And we made it to partial extraction, me and the Geth. Man, was my blood pumping. We both cheered and hooted over the mic. Then switched to a quick Bronze Reaper match to get our blood pressure back down. LOL

By that time, my friend shot me an invite... the irony being I'd just gotten my commendation pack secured right before he invited me in so he could help me get one. LOL But that was a great bunch, and awesome to find on my first Gold PUG for the weekend. And the two Germans commented so nicely on how well I played and thanked me for helping them get a commendation pack... and I was like, "Uh, no, thank YOU. You guys were freakin' fantastic!" It was a big Mutual Admiration Society in the lobby before I departed, and friend requests all around. Good times, good times. Image IPB

Then went on to join my friend, the Australian Asari Justicar, and proceeded to utterly destroy Reapers at Hydra for a few more Gold games, helping one of his buddies secure a commendation pack. Full extractions on all of those, so helped the community goal, too! Image IPB

And now I am left a bit surprised at myself. In the PUG room, I led the points in the failed game and came in second in the successful game. Then, placed second pretty consistently with my Australian friend's group... and they'e all guys who play Gold all the time. Just very pleasantly surprised that I apparently don't suck at Gold nearly as much as I thought I did. And also shocked to find myself actually enjoying Reapers Gold and looking forward to playing it some more. Image IPB

But only after I Bronze Reaper the weekend out to get the community its 400,000 full extractions (unless someone needs me to help them meet the squad goal in between). Image IPB
