Did anyone else think the Flood were a really unconvincing threat in Halo? I mean, they're basically just zombies who are smart enough to use guns. Yeah, Halo 3 introduced a couple new variants, but still.
It doesn't help that all of the Halo games get significantly easier at the point that the flood (and the shotgun) are introduced.
The flood are little more than husks, but that was enough to give the covenant trouble. Imagine if they were backed up by Reaper capital ships. Wouldn't end well.
I'm sorry did you play the Library mission? Scariest mission in a game ever

That mission isn't scary, it's horse****. Combat forms with rocket launchers = broken TV.

The fight is still going on
the Citadel races are not only fighting, but are actually giving the Reapers a tough fight. Indoctrination is hardly helping them.
and compared to the Forerunners? who would solo the citadel races with one ship, when they Millions of ships?
please, use your brain
Indoctrination is helping a lot because all their ground units is an direct or indirect result of Indoctrination.
Otherwise it would just be Reapers and other small fighters.
The Reapers never got a tough fight, they are trying to process the entire planet, that is the only reason they don't outright destroy them.
The Reapers would take the a similar approach with these Forerunners.
Seeing as the Forerunners are all powerful as you make from your fan fiction.
The Reapers would sit back and simply Indoctrinate them and turn them against each other if we base this on your fan fiction.
Otherwise they would just simply process them straight off the bat.

The covenant would wipe the floor with the Reapers. Thousands upon thousands of ships many of which would be classed as bigger than dreadnoughts, armed with lasers, plasma weapons and shields that can withstand megaton levels of energy. FTL that can be used to position themselves anywhere in a system practically instantaneously.
We're talking about fleets that reduce planets to molten slag. What’s there to discuss?

reapers are weak space ships with out no life even metroid race Gorea is more dangerous than reapers its wipe out entire civilsation easy all reapers would not even capagle indocrinate Gorea because Gorea have no brains and Gorea would suck all energy from reapers left them to space to rot Gorea can replicate reapers to they deathiAFKinMassEffect3 wrote...
Why can't these threads just die, we all know the Reapers would destroy them.
Not only can the Reaper force them to fight each other, they can turn them into more Reapers and troops.
Not only that the two could not exist in the same galaxy as the Reapers would have to come before them and make them fall along their path, even if they don't discover mass effect technology the Reapers can destroy them with sheer numbers and turning them against each other.
I don't know what all the fan fiction going around about who has stronger shields and weapons is about.
The Covenant has nothing other than fan fiction on the Reapers in their favor.
The Reapers have Indoctrination.

That said, I think they would be able to inflict fairly heavy casualties on the Reapers themselves, since they possess weapons which are very powerful. I believe their capital ships and other space craft have heavier weaponry than the current cycle of ships, which even then claimed a few Reaper kills.
They could possess an ace in the hole of sorts, though. If the Covenant could release the flood in the right way against the Reapers, it could give the Covenant an advantage (although small arms employed by the flood would be woefully inadequate against a Reaper) on the ground war, if you will, allowing more resources to be used against actually killing Reapers themselves.
It would be a hell of a simulation, though!

Much heavier. The UNSC have ships that can one-shot Reapers, and the Covenant--broken in half, capital city getting OMNOMNOMed by the Flood, in a state of civil war--still roflstomped the UNSC. Plasma weaponry would simply cook the Reapers alive.

Now all we need is a Halo Shep to unite the UNSC and the Covenant and it's game over for the Reapers.
Would have been interesting to see how Master Chief or the other Spartans would have fared against the Reapers. An indoctrinated Master Chief would be a hell of a interesting twist...

Halo space warfare is much more militaristic than ME spce warfare. With fleets numbering in the thousand, with Frigates, Destroyers, Cruisers, Carriers and Supercarriers escorted by thousands of Fighters, Interceptors, Prowlers, Bombers etc. The Covenant Holy Capital of High Charity is escorted by Tens-of-thousands of Corvettes, Cruisers, Destroyers and Supercarriers.
Halo is simply overwhelming in their space combat. Given the fact that ME weapons are completely outclassed and that some Halo vessels would not even be damaged by their most powerful weapons I have to give this to Halo
Now we come to another point. The most powerful weapon that the UNSC posesses is called the NOVA bomb. This bomb is used to oblitirate entire planets from space. Coming in at an insane 1.2 Petatons. To bring that down to ME level it would come in at 1200 BILLION Kilotons. This weapon has the ability to destroy entire planets and fleets. The most fiercesome thing is that the UNSC can literally launch this device through a slipstream anywhere in the Galaxy. So they could take out the entire Citidel and their entire fleet in one shot from the other side of the Galaxy. Nothing in ME can even come close to that.
Now it gets even more insane. Forerunner Dreadnoughts have the ability to destroy entire Solar systems. The Forerunner Dreadnought can crush stars and cause Supernovas and create Black holes. Forerunner Dreadnoughts can ope intergalactic portals to anywhere in the Galaxy. One Forerunner Dreadnought can potentially wipe out half of the ME universe without ever having to fight. Nothing in ME can stand up to Solar-system destroying power. The Dreadnought itself is nearly indestructable and able to take supernovas without a scratch.
Now it goes even further beyond that. The Halo Arrays can instantly wipe out all life in an entire Galaxy. Forerunner Sentinals can create artificial planets and can create armies numbering in the Millions in a matter of days. Again, nothing in ME can stand up to this. The Geth would survive since they are not organic but the Sentinals would oblitirate them with their billion strong armies. The Reapers would be wiped out because they are part organic.
So due to the immense size and firepower of Halo space vessels, the military might of Halo fleets, the massively destrucitve weapons such as the NOVA bomb and the ability to hit anywhere in the galaxy on a whim I have to give this to Halo.
ME simply can’t stand up against planet-busting, solar system busting, and galaxy busting weapons. That is pretty much what I said to TC. One Covenant Supercarrier would already be too much for anything in ME unless their whole fleet ganged on it. Forerunners create planets and crush solar systems. Comparing that kind of power to ME is stupid.
Then we get to the precursors. They are ranked as Tier 0 in Halo. Basically omniscient Gods that can create life and speed up thee very evolution of all living things Precursors are akin to celestials and abstracts in Marvel so they are stupid powerful in their own right.
This is a mismatch, period. I thought it was a troll topic untill I saw that TC actually knew his stuff and gave both sides equal fairness in his asessment. Still a mismatch though and ME is the better game IMO That is pretty much what I said to TC. Comparing that kind of power to ME is stupid.
This is a mismatch, period. I thought it was a troll topic untill I saw that TC actually knew his stuff and gave both sides equal fairness in his asessment. Still a mismatch though and ME is the better game IMO the kinetic barriers from ME are said to deflect any projectiles coming at them, this means bullets and MAC shots, but they can’t deflect heat, toxins or radiation. (ME wiki)
Which is one of the reasons why the Reapers would lose badly in this match. You just reinforced our argument ,the Covenant use energy projectors,torpedos,lasers,...all of them will simply bypass the barriers of the Reapers which in turn will destroy the Reaper.
Every shield would die out when taking to much damage or when it faces huge power more then it can handle(ex: Nova Bomb)ME ship shield strenght =/= Covie shield strenght
ME ships can only take what?kiloton damage to low megaton for their strongest ships. And some Covie ships survived 30 megaton mini nukes in ships ,not even counting the fact that those ships were damaged before by sentinel attacks.
ME ship shield is in no way more adanced then Halo shields.
Some reasons:
-They only offer protection to kinetic weapons, while shields from any Halo faction protect the vessel against any attack.
-Both Covie and Forerunner shields can take more damage.
Saying that ME shields are on par of the Forerunners is the perfect example of how low your knowledge is for Halo.
Any Covenant ship could one shot any Reaper, overwhelming evidence had been posted already in this thread.Your entire argument here is nullified because it’s built off:
-Claim that Reaper shields are above Covie level
-Reaper kinetic barriers can somehow suddenly block energy based weapons
All these claims were proven to be false,in other words you argument is dead.
The rest of your post is built in the same way.
So for the last time. Thx to the huge weakness of kinetic barriers, the Covenant won’t find any problem at destroying Reaper ships with ease. It’s just as if fighting the UNSC ships.
Covenant plasma torpedo’s have a range of 9+ light seconds(fall of reach),the covies just have to fight at this range without even worrying that Reapers would hit 'em unless Reaper weapons have that kind of range.
The Covies can also send in thousands of starfighters to bombard the Reapers with plasma charges.
Sooo teh Reapers will soon scratch their hands figuring out if they would retreat or fight to the death after their see how their vessels offer no protection against any Covie weapon ,God help the Reapers if the Covenant send High Charity with it’s escort into battle.

Regardless, I think more thought should be given to the fact that the Reapers are unified without question, they don't have traitors. They don't seem to really need any power base, economy, worlds, or industry. Indoctrination is an incredibly powerful tool. If the Covenant had a cival war on it's own, imagine what havok indoctrination could cause.
Also, the Reapers are sentient warships. They will react faster and more precisely than ships controlled by a crew, since it's simply their body - they think and it happens. They also probably have a lot of experience dealing with different types of warfare and strategies, and tech to some degree after wiping out galactic civilizations over and over again.
I seem to recall someone mentioning once that one reason Humanity fought as well as they did against the Covenant is that Humans just had better tactics and strategy. Seems like the Covenant has awesome tech, but poor application of their power.
Regardless, it's really hard to say since they are completely separate universes. If it was simply (and unrealistically) just a slug fest it sounds like the Covenant would win. But in a "real war" I'd place my bet on the Reaper's indoctrination and self sustaining abilities.
On a side note, tech and ship power levels from the Mass Effect universe seem more realistic and plausible than the Halo universe, but hey, who knows.
