Thanks UltimaBACON and Liamv2. So I conclude AC 2 and Revelations has the best ones. Based on a few tracks I have listened to, AC1 has eastern themes, but it doesn't have great ones. And AC3 wasn't interesting at all.

I've just discovered that Kirill Pokrovski, Larian's music guy, isn't doing well. He has created some of the most beautiful game tracks I've heard and we all need to wish him a speedy recovery.

Still feeling nostalgic. My two favourite tracks from the whole game.
Had to search the Lava Reef one, but Flying Battery Zone came instantly to mind. Probably because it's the only zone in Sonic 3 & Knuckles (the combined game) where all three characters can race fairly, so I used to play it to death to find out who's fastest.
Knuckles is fastest on Act 1, Tails fastest on Act 2. Sonic is slowest on both acts.
