Greenwood Temples(one of the first songs I learned to play on piano - some kids learn Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star, I went for this.
Blester Island
Aurora Ridge
God, listening to these tunes actually makes my fingers move as if I'm playing a piano. Awesome.

Theme of the Advancing Army
is stil my favourite game-music ever.
It is so heroic.
It would play whenever it was time to assemble your army and start your march to the battlefield. So not during the actual batlle, but leading up to it. That moment when the decision is made: "Gather the men, it is time we march for war! And victory!", inspiring confidence and valor.
Of course there is also
sadness
tranquility
majesty
whatever this is
and so much more.

Epic masterpiece that shames pretty much every other final boss theme out there IMHO.

I've forgotten pretty much everything about that game BUT the music that plays when there's a random battle.

No Suikoden soundtrack yet?
Ah, the Suikoden series. Even if it didn't have an amazing story, I'd remember it for its ear candy.
My faves of each game:
Suikoden I: Mysterious Forest Right up there with requiem of grief, which was already posted.
Suikoden II: Gothic Neclord Not technically my favorite, (too hard to choose, really.) but what an amazing boss theme.
Suikoden III: Amur Plains ...kinda reminded me of the Legend of Legaia overworld... sigh, now i have to go look for that...
Suikoden IV: Base I have to confess, this is the only track I can remember offhand. Probably because I heard it so much.
Suikoden V: I'm torn between Recollection and Sauronix Castle. Between this game and II, there wasn't a bad track to be found.
As for Tierkreis and Tactics, I'll have to think a bit.
EDIT: because I can. Legend of Legaia: Overworld

Mexican Mission - Timesplitters series
Made me look up the songs from Outlaws again... ah the memories...
Theme Song
The Sawmill
The Train
The Last Gunfight - Who will recognise from what movie this one is taken from without cheating?
On a side note I always played the Chinese level on Timesplitters because the music was so damn good.

Baba Yetu - menu music from Civilization IV. Only piece of video game music to ever win a Grammy.
Yes! Though it didn't win for being a game song as it was nominated years afterwards because Christopher Tin released his album with this song on it.
He has most certainly deserved that award however and I love the song.
Also I have to post one of my all time favorite songs, one from the NES no less.
Solstice Theme

NES had some amazing stuff. I actually had the bard's song from Ultima: Quest of the Avatar stuck in my head for years before actually figuring out where it came from.
The NES also had some music that downright frightened me as a young chickie. I either had to play some games with the sound off or plug my ears. Some samples:
Uninvited - Death theme (TURN DOWN YOUR SPEAKERS, this STILL made me jump.)
Maniac Mansion - Edison Theme ...mostly just that spooky intro. Actually love this track now.
And the little "you are cursed" snippit of music from the Dragon Warrior series... i loathed that.

Daytona and Cool remix
I just realized this game would be a great remake. Not many Arcade Volleyballers out there. Hey if they can remake NBA Jam

NES has indeed a lot of amazing music to it, there's so much you could pick from it really.
Was only a kid the first time I played Maniac Mansion and it scared me to no end at that time.
My favorite song from that game though has always been Dave's Theme.
And some more 8-bit magic, Sunsoft was good at it really.
Gremlins 2 - Ventilation Shafts

Lol, just reading the words "Dave's Theme" got it playing in my head. He did have the best theme. Good thing too, because he was a forced team member.
more golden oldies:
Ducktales - The Moon
Wonderboy - Boss Round
Startropics - Dungeon Theme

Uforia: The Saga soundtrack part 1 & 2
Also, Journey to Silius - Title Theme
This game was pretty hard too.

Here's an odd little story. I was recently playing Samurai Warriors Chronicles, and kept getting an old genesis tune stuck in my head when I encountered a general by the name of Narimasa Sassa. For some reason seeing his name triggered the memory of this song. I knew it was the Golden Axe credits theme, but I didn't know what it was called. Apparently my subconscious did.
Sutakora, Sassa

Buletstorm Theme music
Those who come closer came on as I was playing Diablo III last night and I was in the midst of fighting Diablo (in a certain area) and it totally fit the battle. Not going to spoil it but it was pretty awesome.

I LOVE THAT TRACK.
I'm sure i spent more hours in the sphere theater (was that what it was called?) listening to the music than actually playing the game itself.

ArmA II - Manhattan
Machine Vandals - Black Dawn (Mass Effect 2 E3 Trailer song)
Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood - Mexican Attack
NHL 99 - Menu Theme
Who needs all these epic Hans Zimmer orchestral soundtracks when a simple rock guitar tells the story just as well.

The most obvious one:
Baldur's Gate II - Main Theme
Let's put the Neverwinter Nights Theme in there for good measures too.
