Well that's not exactly how Nyx's purpose should be interpreted. Silent Hill wants to punish its inhabitants for their sins, Nyx is the opposite. In truth, Nyx does not desire destruction, but rather wishes mankind to transcend by coming to terms with Death being just another phase of life. Only by realizing this truth will it ultimately be easier to live out ones remaining days on earth. It'll lead one to the answer. It doesn't matter how you or when you will die, what truly matters is how you will live. We want people to know us, to love us and remember us.. that we are here, and we are alive -- The Arcana, for instance, are set up like a journey. The Fool is the beginning, it's like the number 0 (empty) and yet it paves way for endless possibilities.. Each of the Arcana's represents different challenges and hardships one will face during their own journey, it varies between joy and sadness.
