Binding of Isaac is a roguelike adventure game, while FTL is more like a strategy game with a roguelike presentation. That's why people say they're similar, but they're actually very different.
Also, you can buy the soundtrack seperately through Ben Prunty's Bandcamp page.

^ I see. If I like a game's soundtrack, then I kind of prefer to buy the game on principle, and I hear from scurrilous sources that it's fun, so I'll probably get the soundtrack edition on Steam eventually. I liked the randomness aspect of Isaac... logged more hours into that than I'd care to admit.
