Hi, I have this short question for the community. I loved DAO but will be done with it shortly. I will definately replay but I'll wait for patches and the new DLC first.
In the meantime I was wondering about neverwinter nights 2. Never played anything of the NWN series, but loved BG, IWD and PS:T. The thing that set me off about NWN was the fact that you do not control your party members. In NWN2 I believe you have 4 controlable partymember.
But in short, what is the opinion on NWN2 and its expansions? Would I find it a good passtime for the holidays if I liked the other games although it;s not from bioware I believe.
Just wondering

I have to say that after NWN (which was sort of linear affair) I found NWN2 quite delightful, and a lot of fun, thanks to some absolutely delicious NPCs!
I also really like dexterity focused dual wielding characters and this was quite rewarding in NWN2, my point of comparison was BG series where this was rather weak...
Might be worth checking Divinity 2, as well - have not played it yet (not through with DO:A myself), but really liked the first game, and second seems quite impressive, though.
As classics go, Morrowind is a great favorite of mine, absolutely wonderfully open ended, exploration type of game, and you could probably buy not too expensive. The party interaction shall be lacking, though.
Regarding NWN2 - I would give it a shot. The campaign story was well written and gameplay good, but besides BG series, some of the NPCs I like the best were in this game.

It's a bit dated, but you should try Vampire: The Masquerade. It's less group centric, but it's pretty good in relation to story. Not exactly a good FPS either.
And for the love of god, if you can't find it for $15 or lower, don't buy it.

I recommend NWN with the Player Resource Consortium pack; It's a fan made mod that adds a pile of new classes, new prestige classes and new races. I played through SoU and most of HotU as Xeph Wilder (a psionic class) and had an awesome time, although he did end up being OP (he solo'd an ancient blue dragon and killed it in 45 seconds)
and I'll second the Vampire recommendation, playing a Malkavian is PRICLESS!

Yeah I think you should certainly give NWN2 a shot but I would preffer a vanilla instalation for a first playthrough. V:TM ha ha hell yeah so long as you keep in mind there are quite a few issues with it that were never ironed out it is worth checking it out.

I really enjoyed NWN2 and its add-on Storm of Zephyr, though the first add-on sucks (but I won´st spoil the fun by telling you why since the reason is story-connected). I´ll definitely second Monstruo696´s opinion about Vampire: The Masquerade. It´s a technical low-flyer but awesome story content and loads of options. I´d caution you to go straight for "Part Two", which is called "Bloodlines", since the first part isn´t really worth playing. Remember to check out fan sites for the latest patches, because the company that originally produced the game went broke and thus did not continue making patches for the players´ community.

Thanks for the replies. Think I'll give nwn2 a shot. Vampires aren't really my thing, plus I like the D&D setting more (stay with what you like
).
Anymore thoughts on the good and bad of NWN2 out there though?

I really enjoyed NWN2, and the expansion MoTB. I, personally, wouldn't recommend SoZ. I really didn't enjoy it at all.
NWN2 also has really good modules. Dark Waters, Harp and Chrysanthemum, The Subtlety of Thay, The Birthday, Ravenloft: Dreamscape, to name a few.
As for VtM, even if vampires aren't really your thing, I'd suggest it to you. It's a fantastic game.
