I'd choose Thane over the Salarian Councilor any day. The rotten bs tried to make me betray Mordin!

I romanced Thane as my first FemShep. I don't think Thane would be keen on Shephard dropping the universe to save him. He's kind of a stoic, philosophical guy, and he's already close to death from Kepral Syndrome. He wouldn't respect a mad effort to save what was left of him. So my Shep (I haven't played her in ME3 yet) would just see him through to the end.

nothing to do with love interest here but my shepard is an infiltrator, he was on high ground. he would have shot Kai Leng in the head with his Black Widow and ended it from that office window.

I'd be willing to do all of it basically. haha.

I might hesitate or feel guilt if I had to lose certain squaddies or fail other missions or doom planets or what have you, but if Kolyat and/or Thane wanted it/supported it, I'd do it. I can always use my renegade wish-Zaeed-was-LI Shep to pick the opposing options, allowing me another playthrough (as I currently won't bother).

Well first I wouldn't have just stood around like an idiot and watch him be stabbed. I especially wouldn't just casually say Thane needs medical attention and leave him there. I would have said F the Council and stayed with him until help arrived or taken him myself. I'd go to the end of the galaxy to find him help.
What wouldn't I do for this man? That's a better question I think.

Exactly. Shepard  who more try to  bounce   front him to  save him . Same in  hospital she would  grab him and  have him  die on some desert  place watching a sunset  with Kolyat and holding  close   till the end.

I have never wanted to slap anyone with hurricane force like I did when I witnessed Shepard leave Thane right there bleeding on the floor. I was crying so hard, I wasn't paying attention I kept getting CMF's from that phantom, and it was just painful. "Why you leave him? I wouldn't leave an injured dog like that let alone the one I loved? WTF Shep!!!" You didn't leave Garrus behind on Omega after he got hit by the gunship. When Thane was holding my biotic bubble (sick perversion there, not bad judgment), he went down on one knee, you picked him up then. You didn't let him slide off the platform. You picked him up after the platform stopped, heck you even helped Jack get up. You wouldn't leave Legion behind during the IFF mission. You picked up Kaidan and carried him when he got injured on Mars BUT Thane, the man you love you just leave there? You can't carry him? You have a squad, let them go finish the job or have one of them stay behind. You can do that, it is possible.

/sarcasm bot on/ Oh wait, no you can't because then ALL the ones who wanted Thane's heroic death because it is what he deserved would be unhappy and it would cause them to stop playing the game. I forgot, a character some didn't care about gets saved and it will cause their game to become unplayable because it would be unrealistic. Yes, it is so unrealistic to stop to help the one you love. Yes, it is so unrealistic in a universe that has eradicated cancer, emphysema, cloned organs, given people biotic powers, and brought people back from the dead to cure a man with a lung disease. Silly me. I forgot that Thane has the ONE disease that is too unrealistic to be cured. All the other things are realistic. /sarcasm bot off/

Yeah, I still might be a tad angry over the laziness and lack of consideration given to Thane and his fans. And I would go to extreme lengths to save him because he is that important to my Shep, just as Liara is that important to other people's Sheps.

You want to die? Go on.

(I've never romanced him yet, damn)

But if so - My Shepard would go whine on BSN. (No offence)

Vanguard charge, woman! That's one of your best friends, and he's sick. CHARGE. CHARGE. COME ON, CHARGE HARDER. To hell with the Councillor!

Besides, if this game has taught me anything, it's that most problems are solved by a ballastic Shepard.

Killed off thane in most of my playthroughs in ME 2 so that kinda answers your question right there (he is a really sucky venting tube infiltrator)
Anyhow on the playthroughs he did manage to survive I was pretty pleased to see how he was content with his life ending and playing the bad ass assasin hero saving the salarian councilmember before dying with his son by his side.

If you romance him, he's NOT content with dying.
Also, he's an assassin, not a tech person--they say specifically that it needs to be someone with tech skills that should go through the vent :)

He isn't an infiltrator. He's a Vanguard. Olschool No-charge Vanguard. Uses Biotics and heavier weapons than adept.

If there was a choice between saving X squadmate and Thane. I'd choose Thane.

If there was a mission for a cure that if taken, would negatively impact your War Assets, I'd do the mission.

If it was a choice of savig Thane vs.saving a colony etc. I'd choose Thane again.

I'd do all of this despite my Thanemancing Shepard being 100% Paragon in a heartbeat.

This. And I also hated standing like an idiot with a gun she doesn't use, watching while thane gets stabbed. There should have been an renegade/paragon interrupt in order to save thane from getting stabbed by kai leng in the citadel. I could hardly play after that part.

Let's just say that all the time I spent eavesdropping on random people and scurrying across the galaxy doing fetch quests and collecting artifacts, I would have devoted to at least try and help Thane recover....EMS be damned.

I'd do... nothing. It was as it should be.

To quote a line from Shepard right after the coup "this war is bigger than any one person."

First of all, I would convince him (back in ME2) to take every surgery that may help him. I know I could! Come on! I convinced Admiral Han'Gerrel not to shoot the Geth, and I can't talk Thane into saving his own life?

I would do anything possible to save whatever romance option, but since I play as a male Shepard I would still try and save thane no matter what, hes my friend.
