Anorexic, fat..........what about athletic?
Thats what I expect the savior of the galaxy to be, hauling around guns that weigh 20lbs plus in heavy armor all day long requires a strong physique.

And yes, FemShep does have stick arms, I mean, her arms aren't much thicker then her humerus bone.
Jessica Biel looked like a capable female warrior in Blade trinity without being, fat, butch or looking like a bodybuilder.

I agree with you completely. FemShep does have skinny arms, and it's very possible to look like a capable female warrior without being fat or butch. There have been several actresses that prove this.

FemShep isn't skinny to me. She looks perfectly fine. I really do think that we live in a day where people are so used to seeing fat people, that normal/average weight men/women seem odd. That's not how I view it though. Only thing I would add to FemShep is being a bit more tone and defined. Other than that, she's perfect.

She's not anorexic. Please don't trivialize a serious matter.

She is a little on the skinny side, but the big problem is that she's not even close to muscular enough. Those things I'd like to see fixed. ME/ME2, despite whatever other failings, had more believable elite forces leanness.

(Jayvo's actually sort of correct also. It was shocking coming over to Europe, and especially coming back to the States after having been here for a while. You really do get used to seeing a certain “normal” weight, despite myself always having been rather too little than too much.)

Anorexic or not, I'm pretty sure we can all agree she's way too skinny.

Way too skinny to judo-throw Vega and kick his ass!

Actually, FemShep looked like her breasts sagged normally in ME1.Like as if she wasn't wearing a bra. Then in ME2, it looked like she was wearing one and in ME3, it looked like she had a breast lift done.In my opinion, it didn't look like FemShep grew 3 cup sizes. Her breasts were just lifted up.

She's not anorexic.Skinny yes, but not sickly. She looks fit to me.
Although, I do think her upper arms are too thin. They look out of proportion compared to the rest of her body in my opinion.

No, she's anorexic.

FemShep is supposed to be a soldier. Soldiers have muscle definition. Femshep has skeleton definition.

It's just a bad character model. The arms on women in the ME series have always looked weird.

Guys, there's such a thing as skinny and out of shape. Femshep is very skinny (mostly her arms) but also looks flabby and had no muscle tone. Yes she has cybernetics that increase her strength, but she didn't in the first game. There's no way someone with untoned biceps the size of toilet paper tubes would be able to damage anything in melee, lift those huge sniper rifles, fire a shotgun without seriously hurting herself, etc...Just because people don't like how skinny and untoned she is, doesn't mean they want her to be fat. I wish she had MUSCLE. Manshep became totally cut in ME3, you really believe him as a soldier. Femshep looks like a middle schooler that can't throw a baseball more than 10 feet.

I hated DA2 elves and how skinny and misshapen they were! Their head was almost as wide as their shoulders it looked freaky and gross. Fenris was the least weird looking, even though he was skinny but Merril looked like a spider >_<

There is a rule where main character females cannot be overweight. Tv Tropes probably has it around there somewhere.

Anorexic might be going a little too fair.

She looks healthy.

Anyway, if you are looking for a reason, she is thin for the same reason that the female squadmate have modelesque figures: male players aren't interested in female characters that are built like linebackers.

A Fem Shep that was built like Brienne of Tarth would be more realistic, but if Fem Shep looked like Brienne of Tarth, you'd have a lot less people playing as Fem Shep. And you'd have a lot of people raging about at Bioware for 'forcing' them to play an ugly female.

They wanted to make elves look different from humans. They think your broad shouldiers, small head and wide waistline is freakish too.

Don't make me laugh, nobody wants an overweight or fat Shepard, what about an athletic one that actually looks like a capable soldier? Outside of her armor FemShep doesn't look like a soldier at all, she could as well be a suit sitting in an office 24/7 doing spreadsheets with that body build.

I think Gina Carano in Haywire was perfect.

Anyone ever notice that fat women are far more critical of thin or fit women, than the latter is of fat women? I'm a guy, and even I notice that. Every time one whines about society creating an unrealstic ideal for women or female 'body issues,' I want to her tell her to shut her fat pie hole.

A lot of you seem to think the only option to "skinny" is "fat".  There are about a million body types in-between, including "strong and in shape".

There are plenty of women who look like they could handle themselves in tough situations.

There are women you'd be well advised to not ****** off.

And there are women who look completely ridiculous in the outfit they're wearing...

Yeah, fatties think everyone at normal weight or just plain skinny has an eating disorder. ^_^

Well, that says a lot.  She looks like she could hardly pick up a makeup case, never mind defend freedom and The American Way.

What if male Shepard had the body of the average guy in this forum?

If Bioware ever makes a Mass Effect IV, I think they should go with someone like Gina Carano (female mixed martial artist) as sort of template for Fem Shep. She looks like she can kick some serious @ss, but without being unattactive. Win-win.
